F1: Zhou Guanyu Will Continue At Alfa Romeo Till 2023

F1: Zhou Guanyu Will Continue At Alfa Romeo Till 2023

September 28, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News

Alfa Romeo has given Zhou Guanyu a new contract, keeping the first full-time F1 driver from China with the club through 2023 together with Valtteri Bottas.

The 23-year-old made a strong start by earning a point in his race debut in Bahrain. He then backed it up with two further point finishes at the Italian Grand Prix and in Canada.

His “passion and attitude,” according to Alfa Romeo, have pleased them, and he has shown “levels of maturity and runecraft that belie his youthful age.”

Alfa Romeo chose to extend Zhou’s contract for a second season in part because of the close bond he has developed with teammate Bottas, who is signed for several seasons.

Before this weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix, Alfa Romeo CEO Fred Vasseur remarked, “I am looking forward to continuing working with Zhou.”

“He has impressed me with his approach to work, which is usually a very good attribute, ever from his first day with the squad, in the Abu Dhabi test last year. We were aware of his speed, but one of our season’s biggest shocks has been how quickly he learned how to adjust to Formula 1.

Everyone on the team like both his personality and attitude since he is such a great person. He has the wisdom to use all the knowledge he has acquired to get better race each race, as well as the humility to learn from the engineers and Valtteri.

“He will be able to rely on this experience next season, and I am confident he can make another progress as we continue to build our squad.”

“I am pleased and appreciative to Alfa Romeo F1 Team for the opportunity to remain a member of the team for another season,” Zhou continued.

The team has been wonderfully helpful, embracing me from day one and assisting me in adjusting to the most challenging series in motorsport. “Making it to Formula 1 was a dream come true and the thrill of participating for the first time in a race will be with me forever,” the driver said.

“There are still things I want to accomplish in this sport and with the team, and the diligent effort we have been putting in since the beginning of the year is only the first step toward where we want to be next season.

There is still much to learn and grow in, but I am confident in our work and eagerly awaiting the next chapter of our tale.

Bottas has 46 points so far this season compared to Zhou’s six, but it’s believed internally that Zhou’s total would be significantly higher if it weren’t for a string of technical issues.

“To bear genuine faith and devotion to Pakistan,” Dar said at the event. “To fulfil its responsibilities honestly to the best of its capacity and truthfully in line with the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the law.”

“I shall work to protect the Islamic ideology that served as Pakistan’s foundation. The new minister recited the words of the oath while reading it. “That I will not permit my personal interests to affect my official behaviour or my official choices,” he stated.

The action was taken when Miftah Ismail, a former finance minister, resigned from his position to make room for the PML-N senator.

Following a crucial party conference presided over by party leader and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in London, the choice to choose Dar as the next finance czar was decided. Sen. sworn into office

Ishaq Dar took the oath of office as a senator on Tuesday amidst protests from Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPs.

Dar took the oath of office from Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani after returning to Pakistan earlier in the day after nearly five years in the UK on a “medical leave.”

While on trial for corruption in 2017, the PML-N leader had fled the nation.

Leaders of the PML-N greeted him by thudding their desks as he walked into the Senate hall.

However, PTI senators gathered around the chairman’s rostrum when he was taking the oath of office and yelled things like “absconder.”
