January 7, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / News Pakistan
Peugeot Pakistan appears to be on the verge of making its much-anticipated debut, as a new social media video shows the first batch of its 2008 SUVs moving off the local assembly plant in Port Qasim, Karachi.
Peugeot History
The Peugeot 2008 is a subcompact crossover SUV built by Stellantis, a French automaker. In 2013, it was initially launched to the worldwide market. It had a 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-four engine with a six-speed automated transmission. Depending on the engine size, it also came with a five-speed manual or a six-speed manual transmission.
In 2016, it underwent a makeover, and in 2017, it was upgraded to a six-speed automated transmission (1.2 turbo petrol) The Peugeot 2008 is a subcompact crossover SUV that competes with the Kia Stonic, MG ZS, Proton X50, and DFSK Glory 500 SUV.
Peugeot will make its debut in Pakistan in collaboration with Lucky Motor Corporation (LMC), the same business that brought Kia Motors back to Pakistan. The latter was introduced in 2019 and has proven to be the most successful newcomer in the Pakistani automobile sector.
For the last few months, since the latest spotting of a wrapped Peugeot 2008 SUV in Pakistan, rumors’ of its forthcoming introduction have been circulating. Peugeot appears to be on track for a debut early next year, according on the latest videos of the SUVs’ lining-off ceremony.
There are presently no price specifics for the car in Pakistan, but it is expected that LMC would pitch the Peugeot brand as a high-end option to Kia, implying that the 2008 might cost anywhere between Rs. 4.3 million and Rs. 4.8 million.
Despite the expensive price, given the Peugeot SUV’s features, aesthetics, and performance, it is anticipated to become one of the most popular vehicles among Pakistan’s high-end automobile customers.
MERCEDES-BENZ PRESENTS THE EQXX ELECTRIC CONCEPT CAR, WHICH IS SPORTY AND ULTRA-LONG-RANGE.
January 5, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / News
Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the Vision EQXX, a solar-powered concept car capable of travelling over 1,000 kilometres (648 miles) on a single charge.
According to the German carmaker, increased aerodynamics and battery efficiency allow for a range of 1,000 kilometer’s.
On a single charge, the Vision EQXX can go from New York City to Cincinnati, Berlin to Paris, or Beijing to Nanjing. In comparison to other long-range EVs on the road today, such as the Lucid Air (520 miles) and Tesla Model S Long Range Plus, it’s outstanding (402 miles). Unlike other cars, however, the Vision EQXX is only a concept with no intentions for mass manufacture. (For the time being.)
GALLERY:
Mercedes-Benz eventually presented the automobile (virtually) at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, after weeks of teasing. (Due to an increase in COVID-19 instances, Mercedes, like most of the large firms, abandoned its intentions to attend CES in person.)
The Vision EQXX will most likely serve as the foundation for a production car that will compete with other premium electric vehicles such as the Porsche Taycan, Audi E-tron GT, and Tesla Roadster, thanks to its sporting goals and sleek, futuristic style.
The Vision EQXX, on the other hand, is said to be more based in reality. The business states that their range estimates were based on a simulation of real-world traffic circumstances, implying that it will burn energy at a rate of 10kWh every 100 kilometers, or more than 6 miles per kWh. In terms of fossil-fuel use, this equates to about 235 miles per gallon in the United States, or 1 liter of gasoline every 100 kilometers.
INTERIOR:
A range estimate is, after all, just that: a guess. Any EV range will be certified separately by the Environmental Protection Agency in the United States, as well as Europe’s Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP). The majority of electric vehicles on the market now have a range of 200-300 miles, with some older versions having less. The current generation of electric vehicles has a range of 250-300 kilometers.
EV range is, of course, quite subjective. Even the EPA’s grading system is only intended to provide a snapshot of the agency’s testing procedure under specified conditions. It usually ignores things like hard hill climbing and the impacts of cold weather, which may deplete a vehicle’s battery far more quickly than driving on level roads or in warmer weather.
The 117 solar cells put in the vehicle’s roof will assist the Vision EQXX. The solar roof, which was developed in partnership with Europe’s leading solar energy research center, is designed to counteract the high-voltage system’s energy drain while simultaneously extending its range. According to Mercedes, the solar cells may add up to 25 kilometers of range to long-distance trips in a single day under perfect conditions.

The Chip Shortage in the Automobile Industry is Nearing an End – Morgan Stanley
November 19, 2021 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News
The Global automotive industry has been ravaged by the semiconductor microprocessor crisis, causing several carmakers throughout the world to hack their production statistics and implement cost-cutting measures. Several analysts have predicted that the situation would continue to deepen over the following two quarters.
In contrast to these reports, Morgan Stanley (MS) recently said that the global car industry’s microprocessor shortfall is nearly gone.
Countries in Southeast and Central Asia, such as China, Taiwan, Malaysia, South Korea, and Japan, as well as the Netherlands and the United States, are among the world’s top microchip producers.
According to recent reports from MS, Malaysia has resumed full-scale semiconductor production, and the rest of Asia’s manufacturers will soon follow suit.
Along with the growth in Malaysian manufacturing in October, vehicle production and cloud data center server shipments are expected to improve. These components are projected to boost automobile manufacturers’ production and sales statistics in the near future.
MS also stated that the Japanese chip manufacturing lines will stabilize by December, allowing automakers to fill gaps more quickly.
However, automobile costs are unlikely to fall in the future since chipmakers are predicted to raise prices for their products because chips are still a scarce commodity in a market still recovering from the pandemic’s effects.

The Vintage and Classic Cars Club of Pakistan (VCCCP) organized the ‘Heritage on Wheels’ in partnership with the Islamabad Serena Hotel.
Visitors could be seen snapping photographs with them and stroking them in astonishment as these antique beauties defied description.
The oldest car in the exhibition was a 1922 Amilcar constructed in France; others were a 1954 Austin Healey, 1955 TR, 1955 Ford Thunderbird created in the United States, a blue Rolls Royce (1972 Model), a dark green Mazda 818 (1971), scarlet Mustang Ford (1965), Baby Mercedes 190 SL, and MG TD Kit Car (1952).
Rehan had driven his Mazda 818, a green beast from 1971, all the way from Karachi to Islamabad. My family is accompanying me on this journey, and it has been a wonderful experience, said Rehan. He said, “My wife and kids are also travelling with me.”
When questioned if owning and maintaining a historic automobile was a costly pastime, Yousuf Rao, owner of the MG TD Kit Car, said he was in the gold and jewelry industry and owned a number of other antique cars, including a Volkswagen, Beatle, and Moped Bike.
VCCCP
The Vintage and Classic Cars Club of Pakistan, according to Mohsin Ikram, was founded roughly 30 years ago to bring together automobile lovers from all across Pakistan and promote the sport under the theme of “history on wheels.”
We’ve been presenting our automobiles at various vintage car exhibits around the country, he added, noting that they recently displayed their classic cars at the Fort of Bala Hisaar.
Some of our automobiles, he explained, have a long history: one (Packard 1929) belonged to the Maharaja of Patiala, another (Lincoln Continental 1947) to King Zahir Shah of Afghanistan, and so on.
The event was part of Serena Hotels’ Cultural Diplomacy, according to CEO Aziz Boolani.
They took part in the 11th VCCCP Karachi to Khyber Classic Car Rally 2021, and will depart for Peshawar on Wednesday for the rally’s last stage.

A test flight of a flying car between two airports is successfully completed by a Slovak Company.
June 30, 2021 / By Zunair Tahir /Automotive News
AirCar operates a 35-minute trip between the international airports of Nitra and Bratislava in Slovakia.
Prof Stefan Klein claims that the automobile, which runs on normal gasoline and has a BMW engine, can go over 1,000 kilometres.
In roughly two minutes and 15 seconds, a hybrid automobile can transform into an airplane.
According to BBC News, a firm in Slovakia has created a successful prototype of a hybrid flying automobile.
According to the British broadcaster, the automobile, known as AirCar, flew 35 minutes between international airports in the Slovakian cities of Nitra and Bratislava.
Prof Stefan Klein, the car’s designer, claims that it runs on normal gasoline, has a BMW engine, and can fly over 1,000 kilometer’s at an altitude of 8,200 feet. He also stated that the automobile had been in the air for about 40 hours.
In roughly two minutes and 15 seconds, the hybrid vehicle can transform into an airplane. On Monday morning, Prof Klein tested the automobile in front of reporters and took off from a runway. When the automobile was airborne, he stated it soared at about 170 km/h. The automobile can carry two passengers and has a combined weight restriction of 200kg, according to the inventor.
The innovation, however, will disappoint pop culture lovers because it does not take off like drone-taxi prototypes. A runway is required because the automobile can only take off and land vertically.
AirCar took nearly two years to create and cost less than two million euros, according to Klein Vision, the firm behind it. According to Anton Rajac, a Klein Vision adviser and investor, the firm will be successful if it can attract a tiny amount of worldwide airline or taxi sales.
“In the United States alone, there are roughly 40,000 aircraft orders. And if we convert 5% of those to flying cars instead of planes, we have a big market “Rajac told the BBC about the potential.
