Final Designs For Sony And Honda’s Electric Sedan Are Near
January 10, 2024 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News
In 2024, Sony Honda Mobility will showcase a near-production Afeela prototype at CES. In the beginning of 2022, Sony and Honda revealed their intention to collaborate, an improbable partnership.
Since then, the two have founded a new business called Sony Honda Mobility, and the Afeela is their first vehicle.
The Consumer Electronics Shows of the previous year saw the EV’s baptism. A variant that is closer to manufacturing is on display at the 2024 CES.

The Sony Honda Mobility Afeela may not have the most intriguing name, but it certainly has a unique appearance. The sleek electric car now has a spoiler lip and a slightly modified front bumper in addition to standard side mirrors in place of mirrors.

The pillars appear thicker than on the prototype from the previous year, and the sweptback headlamps are shaped more curved than previously.
There’s a new component sticking out of the bumper and a black piece of trim put above the license plate on the back.

The year 2025 is when the Sony Honda Mobility firm is expected to launch order books.
Early 2026 is when deliveries to clients in North America are planned. Gran Turismo 7 will allow you to drive the Afeela in the meantime when it releases later this year.
Honda Appoints Marini To Replace Marquez In The MotoGP
November 27, 2023 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News
After 11 years together that have produced 59 wins and six world titles, Marquez confirmed in October that he will be departing Honda at the conclusion of the 2023 season to join Gresini Ducati.
When Honda insisted on giving Marquez a one-year contract in order to retain its options open until 2025, Miguel Oliveira was initially touted as the front-runner to replace Marquez. However, this didn’t work out.
Following Marquez’s defeat in the Gresini Ducati ride, Fabio Di Giannantonio emerged as the next contender.
Honda team manager Alberto Puig said during the Malaysian Grand Prix that the company was considering three candidates: Di Giannantonio, Marini, and Pol Espargaro.
While Marini was the clear favorite, Espargaro, who rode for Honda in 2021 and 2022, swiftly decided to stay with KTM as a test rider the following year. Honda has made Marini an intriguing two-year offer to join its factory squad for 2024, joining Joan Mir the following season, notwithstanding its original approach.
With support from VR46, Marini made his MotoGP debut in 2021 with the Avintia team. In 2022, VR46 completely transitioned to the premier class with Marini and Marco Bezzecchi.
Before the Honda option surfaced, Marini, who finished on the podium in two Grand Prix in 2023, had already re-signed to stay with VR46 for a further season in 2024.
A Honda statement said, “Honda Racing Corporation is pleased to announce the signing of Luca Marini for the 2024 and 2025 MotoGP World Championship seasons.”
After placing second in the 2020 Moto2 World Championship and winning six races and fifteen podiums, the 26-year-old entered the elite class in 2021.
“Since entering the top division, Marini has placed second in two grand prix, claimed two pole positions, and finished fourth in four sprint races in 2023. He will sign a two-year contract to join Joan Mir on the factory team.
Tuesday’s post-season Valencia test, where Marc Marquez will also make his debut on a Ducati, will give Marini his first taste of the Honda.
Twenty years after Rossi’s final race for HRC, Marini’s signing with the factory Honda squad brings the Japanese manufacturer back into Rossi’s orbit.
Between 2001 and 2003, Rossi won three of his seven premier class titles with Honda. In 2004, he left to join Yamaha.
Given that Di Giannantonio hinted at taking Marini’s spot on the VR46 squad during the Valencia Grand Prix weekend, it is now widely anticipated that he will do so next season.
Before the Italian won his maiden grand prix at Losail, VR46 team director Uccio Salucci stated during the Qatar weekend that Di Giannantonio wasn’t really a viable choice for 2024.
Honda CB1000 Hornet A Comprehensive Four-Cylinder Performance Range
November 8, 2023 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News
Europe once again saw the Hornet moniker returned with the 2023 CB750. It also received a lot of praise for its sleek streetfighter style, power, and agility, which was evident in its strong sales numbers. Up until August 2023, it was the best-selling naked bike in Europe.
The Hornet family has grown by adding not one, but two new members for the year 2024. The CB1000 Hornet is the leader of the trio, with the CB500 and CB750 Hornet following suit.
Equipped with the 2017 CBR1000RR Fireblade’s engine, the CB1000 Hornet has a broad range of powerful inline four-cylinder performance and nimble handling, making it an enjoyable ride in both city traffic and on winding, twisting rural roads.
Its transformational look, inspired by two words, violence and purity, was designed in Japan. The bike has a wide front but taper dramatically towards the back, which is reflected in the simple seat that matches the classic narrow waistline of the Hornet.
The two small projector-style LED headlights are the main attraction, as is the iconic fuel tank. Like the tubular rear subframe with a lattice pattern, the new frame is likewise a design feature, but it is rather darker in this instance.
It’s difficult to overlook the CB1000 Hornet because of its ability to “get miles fast,” high-quality specs, small size, and unique styling—especially for riders who already ride a medium-sized naked bike and want to step it up a level.
The following colors will be offered for the 2024 CB1000 Hornet:
Red Grand Prix
Matte Metallic Iridium Grey
White Pearl Glare
Technical Specification Highlights:
999 cm³ DOHC in-line four-cylinder engine: around 150 horsepower (over 110 kW) maximum torque and peak power of more than 100 N-m
Intake by vertical draft, exhaust by 4-2-1
TBW electronic throttle system, HSTC traction control system, assisted clutch with slip function, and three default driving modes
A brand-new steel frame with double bracing.
Showa SFF-BP inverted fork with a 41 mm diameter and adjustable compression and extension damping
Pro-Link equipped rear monoshock seen in Showa.
Front calipers with four pistons and floating discs measuring 310 mm
Front tire 120/70 ZR17; rear tire 180/55-17
A 5-inch TFT color display including the smartphone connectivity feature Honda RoadSync
Two projector-style headlights with integrated LED illumination and other LED components
Honda received two awards at the 2023 Red Dot Design Awards for the Civic Type R and the new Civic e:HEV vehicles. In addition, it honored winning two more Red Dot Design Awards for its motorcycles, the XL 750 Transalp and the CB750 Hornet.
The Red Dot Design Awards are a coveted distinction recognized for exceptional product design that is aesthetically pleasing, useful, intelligent, and inventive. The victors represent the most recent technological, social, economic, and ecological demands of customers and are chosen by a panel of 50 international experts who test and assess each submission.
Honda’s model CB750 Hornet won a prize for product design. The brand-new motorcycle with the catchy moniker is a sporty naked bike with a new 755cc two-cylinder engine that draws design cues from the previous generation.
The redesigned Hornet is an embodiment of technological beauty with more aggressive lines and angles, according to Honda’s Rome-based design team. The fuel tank, which is modelled after the form of a wasp’s wing and the strength and agility associated with motorcycles in the Streetfighter style, serves as the primary stylistic reference for the Hornet.
The Red Dot judges also awarded the XL750 Trasalp high honor’s. The XL750 Transalp gives the cosy do-it-all crossover to a new generation of motorcyclists, marking the name’s return to Honda’s motorcycle lineup after almost ten years.
It is based on the same 755cc twin-cylinder motor as the Hornet and pays homage to an earlier version, the 1986 XL 600V Transalp, while sporting more contemporary looks. The model’s recognizable “long-legged” posture is still present, giving the daring look for which she is known.
Honda has now received 13 Red Dot Design Awards since 2020, including a “Best of the Best” honor for the Japanese manufacturer in 2020, thanks to its accomplishments this year.
Honda Debuts Its CB1000R & CB1000R Black Edition Models In Japan In 2023
January 20, 2023 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News
For the 2023 model year, Honda will continue to produce the CB1000R, a liter-class neo-retro naked sport bike. The bike hasn’t had many technological or feature changes since it first appeared. The 2023 model year won’t be any different, since the sole difference between the ordinary CB1000R and the CB1000R Black Editions is a new color scheme.
The redesigned CB1000R and CB1000R Black Edition will debut in the Japanese market on January 19, 2023, with new Bordeaux Red Metallic and Graphite Black paint jobs, respectively.
GALLERY:
The Matte Beta Silver Metallic, Candy Chromosphere Red, and Matte Ballistic Black Metallic finishes are no longer available. For the Black Edition, blacked-out components include the headlamp bezel, fuel tank garnish, upper and lower fairings, and muffler. The CB1000R emblem is also shown in subdued graphics on the gasoline tank.
Performance Details:
On the performance front, the tried-and-true inline-four cylinder engine from the CBR1000RR super sport bike continues to power the CB1000R. With throttle-by-wire technology, four riding modes, and an up-and-down quick-shifter, it keeps up an astounding level of technology. A six-speed manual gearbox with a slipper-assist clutch transfers power to the rear wheels. The 998cc engine generates 77 lb-ft of torque at 8,250 rpm and 143 horsepower at 10,500 rpm.
17-inch alloy wheels with machined spokes, a Showa Separate Function, a Big Piston inverted front fork, and a fully adjustable rear monoshock are a few further standout features. Dual front and single rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS make up the braking system.
The 2023 Honda CB1000R and CB1000R Black Edition will go on sale in the Japanese market on January 19, 2023, with regards to availability and price. While the sleek and sophisticated Black Edition in Graphite Black costs 1,716,000 Yen, or $13,328 USD, the normal CB1000R, which is available in Bordeaux Red Metallic, retails for 1,670,900 Yen, or around $12,978 USD.
In the near future, Honda Atlas Cars Limited intends to introduce Pakistan to the brand-new HR-V. Without providing a specific debut date, the business announced “HR-V All New 2022 Coming Soon” on a digital banner at Pakistan Auto Show (PAS) 2022.
Last month, HACL started testing the HR-V in Pakistan, which excited auto fans. The 11th generation Honda Civic test vehicle was seen to be wrapped in the same camouflage as the SUV. Later updates made it clear that HACL had indeed imported the SUV for testing.
Early in 2021, Honda introduced the HR-V, also known as the Honda Vezel in Japan, to compete with crossovers like the Toyota C-HR, Corolla Cross, Mazda CX-5, Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, and others.
It offers a variety of powertrains for different markets, including an electric hybrid option. A 360-degree camera, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, automated braking, traffic sign reading, lane departure warning, and other contemporary Honda Sensing technology are all included in the HR-V.
The SUV was listed as costing Rs. 6.05 million on the import invoice, which seems like a reasonable price. However, considering the continued local currency devaluation and increasing operating costs, the manufacturer is probably going to launch at a significantly higher price.
In Pakistan, Honda’s 11th-Generation Civic 2022 Makes Its Debut
March 3, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / News Pakistan
Honda Atlas Cars Limited (HACL) has officially released the all-new Civic in Pakistan, making the small sedan category in Pakistan significantly more intriguing.
The new Civic was also unveiled in a digital launch, presented by Aamir H. Shirazi, President of Atlas Group, Hironobu Yoshimura, CEO of HACL, and Aamir Nazir, General Manager Sales and Marketing at HACL, who informed the audience about the vehicle’s numerous features.
Unlike the 6th generation Honda City, which was released last year, the 11th-generation Civic is the most recent model on the market, and it outperforms its competitors, such as the Toyota Corolla and Hyundai, in terms of performance and amenities. Even if it comes at a hefty price.
When it comes to style, the new Honda Civic is more conservative than its predecessor, which is a good thing.
With a large bumper grille in the middle and a streamlined primary grille between the headlights, the front end appears dignified but intimidating. The bright Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) on the newly styled headlights contribute to the intimidating appearance. The overall refinement is enhanced by the lengthened and straightened-out bonnet design.
Along the length of the vehicle, the side profile exhibits clean and basic lines. The 2017 Civic comes with 17-inch black alloy rims (16-inch in basic and mid-level models) in Pakistan, which are more appealing than previous generations.
The ‘European design influence’ is most visible towards the back end. The car’s angular and sharp taillights, straightened-out boot lid, high-up bumper reflectors, center trim down below, and dual oval exhaust tips (in the top grade only) give it a sporty appeal.
Interior Design :
The inside of the 11th-generation Civic has been completely redesigned by Honda. The inside has a luxury vibe thanks to a simple dashboard design, silver trim elements throughout the cabin, and ambient lighting. The premium variant’s inside is black with red stitching, while the base and mid-level models’ interiors are dark grey.
It sports a huge 9-inch infotainment screen with Apple Carplay and Android Auto on the top. The lowest models have soft fabric upholstery, while the premium models have leather upholstery.
Engine Design:
The 2018 Honda Civic will be available in three different models. A turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 127 horsepower (hp) and 180 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque will power the base and mid-level models, which will be coupled to an M-CVT automatic gearbox.
The top-of-the-line model also has a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine with 176 horsepower and 220 Nm of torque, as well as an LL-CVT automatic transmission.
It has McPherson struts in the front and multi-link coil springs in the rear. It also has disc brakes on all four wheels, as well as an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), and Brake Assist (BA) system for good stopping power.
According to auto-data.net, the new Civic has a worldwide fuel economy of 14 liters per kilometer; however, values in Pakistan are likely to differ. The new Civic will also be the quickest, most thrilling, and capable vehicle in the country, with a power-to-weight ratio (PWR) of roughly 0.35 hp/kg.

It’s worth noting that the firm began blind reservations for the new 6th Generation Honda City 2021 in May of that year. This wasn’t the first time Honda Atlas has opened blind bookings for one of their cars; we recall the firm doing so when the Honda BR-V SUV was launched.
The firm began blind reservations for the new Honda City 2021 with a deposit of Rs. 1 million for the basic variation and Rs. 1.2 million for the Aspire variant, all without revealing the car or the sedan’s actual pricing.
