Suzuki and Malaysian business KMSB have entered into a legally binding agreement to launch the Afaz brand. The components required for Malaysian manufacture to satisfy growing local demand will be provided by the Japanese.

Malaysia is fortunate since Suzuki and Kuala Lumpur-based KMSB Motors have joined forces to introduce the Afaz brand.

The Malaysian Prime Minister’s Office hosted the signing event. Among those present were Suzuki Chairman Toshihiro Suzuki, KMSB Chairman Faez Yahaya, and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

AFY Mobility Industries Sdn. Bhd. owns KMSB. In actuality, Suzuki Malaysia’s only stockholders are Malaysians. In the Southeast Asian nation, Suzuki motorbikes are also manufactured and sold.

Suzuki will begin providing engine and fairing parts for the 110cc to 150cc Afaz models in the first half of 2024 under the terms of the agreement. Suzuki’s plants in Asia will supply the parts.

At the event, Suzuki’s president stated: “Suzuki would want to contribute to the growth and prosperity of the Malaysian motorcycle market and industry in addition to motorcycle sales by providing replacement parts to KMSB.

Afaz is anticipated to make a significant contribution to the local economy while also creating lots of job opportunities in a nation in need. Malaysia’s motorbike industry is still expanding, particularly in the business sector. As a point of reference, there were 718,000 motorbikes on the market in the nation in 2022.

The introduction of Afaz occurs at the same time as Malaysia’s release of the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030), in which the Prime Minister defined the key goals for the nation’s industrial sector through 2030.

More precisely, NIMP 2030 seeks to establish Malaysia as a major participant in a variety of industries and a global leader in industrial growth.

Important individuals like Datuk Seri Isham Ishak, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), and Datuk Wira Arham Abdul Rahman, Executive Director of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), attended the grand launch of the new motorbike brand with the Prime Minister of Malaysia, the Chairman of the Board of KMSB, and the Chairman of the Board of Suzuki.

What sort of motorbikes Afaz will create is unknown at this time. They will probably certainly focus on the Malaysian mass market category that sells the most products, which includes scooters and budget motorbikes.

However, we anticipate them to also unveil some mid-range motorcycles. On the other hand, we are aware that the business will start its own research and development, marketing, and innovation effort. a project created especially to meet the demands of the Malaysian market.
