Tecno Camon 30 Series: A Difficult Sell in Pakistan’s Tough Market
Tecno Camon 30 Series: A Difficult Sell in Pakistan’s Tough Market

In 2024, Tecno unveiled the Camon 30, Camon 30 Pro 5G, and Camon 30 Premier 5G, a whole new Camon portfolio for Pakistan. They sound quite fancy on paper. But wait a minute, because when you contrast them with other options, things become a little sketchy.
The price tags of the Camon 30 series are leaving techies scratching their heads. There are other places where people say you may receive a lot more value for your money. Consider the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 (256GB) before anything else. In terms of value, it completely kills the base Camon 30.
The gorgeous 120Hz AMOLED display technology is a feature of both phones. The real deal, though, is that the Redmi Note 13 offers a comparable experience for less than Rs 55,000, while the Camon 30 will set you back more than Rs 62,000. In addition, the Redmi boasts superior on-screen protection thanks to Gorilla Glass 3, which shields its blazing 1800 nits display.
For Tecno, things in the camera division go worse before they get better. The 30 and 30 Pro, the two most recent Tecno Camon models, only have a meager 50MP primary sensor.
With its massive 108MP sensor—which comes with picture stabilization—and its ultrawide and macro lenses, the Redmi Note 13 laughs in their faces.
Tecno is also not exactly renowned for its excellent after-sale service. Comparing their HiOS UI to the seamless, intuitive experience offered by MIUI 14 or even Samsung’s One UI, it feels…off and is clumsy. Update-averse consumers would be better off with the Samsung Galaxy A15, which has the same Helio G99 processor, since at least you can be sure you’ll receive software updates and security fixes.
Strangely, Infinix, Tecno’s own cousin brand, may be dethroning them. With a price around Rs 55,000, the Infinix Note 40 offers far better value than the Redmi Note 13, matching it in terms of performance, display, and camera.
To make matters worse, Tecno’s Spark 20 Pro Plus is an added insult. For less than Rs 55,000, this mid-ranger has a curved AMOLED display, always-on display technology, a powerful 108MP camera, and the Helio G99 CPU.
Tecno appears to be taking a chance with the Camon 30, given its high pricing and lackluster specifications. It would have a difficult time winning over Pakistani smartphone consumers who are budget conscious and want the greatest deal.
