Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Monday that Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hameed, the former Director General (DG) of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), has been placed under military arrest.
Court-martial procedures against former DG ISI Faiz Hameed have also been started, according to the media wing of the Pakistan Army.
In accordance with the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s directives, the Pakistan Army conducted a thorough court of investigation to determine if the accusations made against Lt Gen Faiz Hameed (Retd) in the Top City Case were accurate.
Accordingly, Lt Gen Faiz Hameed (Retd) has been subject to suitable disciplinary punishment in accordance with the Pakistan Army Act, the ISPR stated.
Furthermore, several documented cases of post-retirement violations of the Pakistan Army Act have also been revealed. Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed (Retd.) has been placed under military detention and the Field General Court Martial procedure has begun.
An investigative committee was established by the Pakistan Army earlier in April to look into claims of power abuse against the former head of the ISI.
The committee was established in accordance with the Defense Ministry’s and the Supreme Court’s directions. The former head of ISI was charged with abusing his authority with reference to the housing society in Islamabad.
