China’s BYD is getting closer to unseating Tesla, the electric vehicle maker owned by Elon Musk, as the largest seller globally.

In the last three months of 2023, the company reported on Monday that it had sold a record 526,000 battery-only vehicles.

A more than 70% increase in sales in December contributed to that.
Before Wall Street starts on Tuesday, US-based Tesla is expected to announce its most recent quarterly vehicle manufacturing and delivery statistics.

The Shenzen, China-based BYD reported that over 3 million “new energy vehicles” (NEVs), which comprise hybrid and battery-only cars, were sold by the company over the whole year.

According to the company, battery-only vehicles accounted for over 1.6 million of its total sales.

According to industry experts, Tesla sold 1.82 million electric vehicles in 2023 overall, including around 483,000 in the final three months of 2023.

Although Mr. Musk had stated in January of last year that Tesla could produce two million vehicles by 2023, he has since issued a warning that the demand for his company’s vehicles was being adversely affected by rising financing rates.

Wang Chuanfu, the CEO of BYD, and his cousin co-founded the company in Shenzhen in 1995.

The firm gained recognition for producing rechargeable batteries that rivaled more expensive Japanese imports and were utilized in computers, cellphones, and other devices.

In 2002, it began selling shares on the public market and expanded by acquiring Qinchuan Automobile Company, a state-owned automobile manufacturer that was having financial difficulties.

Berkshire Hathaway, the seasoned US investor led by Warren Buffett, has been a stakeholder of BYD since 2008.

As to analysts, BYD’s original business, batteries, is responsible for its rise. Being some of the priciest components of an EV, BYD may save a significant amount of money by producing them internally.

Apple has announced that it would challenge the US government’s decision to prohibit the sale and import of its Series 9 and Ultra 2 timepieces.

The step was taken after the Biden Administration decided on Tuesday not to relax limitations due to a patent dispute in an emergency manner.

Masimo, a manufacturer of medical devices, has charged Apple of stealing its technology and staff.

As a result, the US International Trade Commission banned the import and sale of Apple watches.

Apple “pre-emptively” banned the devices from US retailers and its website earlier this month. There has been no impact on sales elsewhere.

The legendary off-roader and cult favorite Suzuki Jimny is about to get a makeover just in time for the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon, all thanks to the creative efforts of Japanese tuning company DAMD.

Known for producing unique body packages for little Japanese automobiles, the business will present two striking designs that honor classic European models: the Renault 5 and the esteemed Lancia Delta Integrale.

**Suzuki Jimny for 2024 Tokyo Auto Saloon**

First off, the Jimny, as interpreted by DAMD, is a tiny crossover with headlights that are similar to those of the Renault 5 and a radiator grille that matches the small hatchback.

The Jimny’s white OZ wheels give it a rally-ready appearance, and the little spoiler at the back is a nod to the 5’s soft wing. Interestingly, unlike the original Renault 5 Turbo, a sticker on the side indicates that this vehicle is non-turbo.

DAMD also offers a Jimny that is modeled after the Lancia Delta Integrale if you like a more aggressive appearance. The company’s redesign, with its four circular headlights and yellow fog lamps built into the bumper, perfectly embodies the spirit of the Italian rally hatch. A bigger spoiler is located at the back.

**Suzuki Jimny For The 2024 Tokyo Auto Saloon**

Regretfully, the two crossovers’ rally-inspired styling isn’t complemented by any mechanical changes. The little off-road vehicle in Japan is equipped with a tiny 658-cc three-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 63 horsepower and 71 pound-feet of torque.

A 1.5-liter naturally aspirated mill with 101 horsepower and 102 lb-ft of torque is available in foreign markets. However, those figures don’t alter.

It’s interesting that the bike has two radially mounted front disc brakes. This is a little excessive for a little bike, so it’s clear that the looks were the main consideration.

Regarding cost and accessibility, the GPX GTM250R will only be available in Japan and will have a 150-unit production run. There are three colors available:

The price of this limited edition retro-inspired gadget is 566,500 yen, or around $4,007 USD, for those who wish to obtain one.

A dense, poisonous fog, sometimes referred to as smog, has engulfed the city, making many people sick, particularly the elderly and school-age children.

Amidst the very low temperatures and heavy fog in the morning, the Department of Education is considering extending the winter break by one week.

Parents have demanded that the school break be extended by one week due to their concerns about the severe weather that is predicted to persist in January.

They point out that a number of private institutions have already been granted a vacation of more than a week, with classes starting again on January 8.

Parents are pleading for an extension of the holidays till January 7 in order to guarantee the safety and well-being of pupils during the cold weather, and this appeal also goes to Punjab government schools.

Since revealing the Vision Pro in June, Apple has not provided a firm launch date, just stating that it would be available in shops “early 2024.” Following that, rumors began to circulate that Apple will probably launch the mixed-reality headset in March 2024.

SpaceX will spend the next several days finalizing plans for a fifth attempt to launch the Falcon Heavy into space, after four abortive attempts earlier this month.

Previous attempts by SpaceX in recent weeks to utilize the rocket to launch an experimental spacecraft for the U.S. Space Force into orbit were thwarted by a variety of factors, such as inclement weather at the Florida launch site at Kennedy Space Center and an unidentified “side issue” on the ground.

The current intended launch date is Thursday, December 28, although there is no guarantee that the Falcon Heavy will launch on time based on the results of the last four attempts. Yes, SpaceX engineers will be closely monitoring the weather, since the current forecast calls for a lot of cloud and a probability of rain.

The rocket will be making its ninth flight since its inaugural one in 2018 when the Falcon Heavy eventually roars away from the launchpad.
