With the launch of the AI-powered Galaxy S24 smartphone series, Samsung Electronics showcases its in-house generative AI, called Samsung Gauss, and its on-device AI, called Galaxy AI, which enables operation without an internet connection.

With additional AI services, an AI phone’s capabilities go beyond those of a standard smartphone. The “Galaxy Unpacked 2024” event is set to take place in the SAP Center in San Jose, California, on January 18 at three in the morning KST.

Samsung will highlight the Galaxy S24 series as the next-generation smartphone and highlight that it is the first AI phone during the event. The company is committed to using AI developments to get beyond smartphone constraints.

Prior to Unpacked, one of the noteworthy AI offerings was real-time call translation. With Samsung Gauss integrated into the Galaxy S24, the translation service hopes to provide real-time translation of the other person’s call, in contrast to other services like Never Papago or Genie Talk that needed installation of separate apps.

Even if the other person doesn’t have an AI phone, this functionality still functions flawlessly. In essence, users may converse with an interpreter concurrently by selecting to listen to the translated chat in voice or view it in real-time as text.

Galaxy AI is essential to improving camera features, such as still images and motion pictures. Like the Galaxy S23 Ultra before it, the Galaxy S24 Ultra has an optical zoom of 100 times.

However, customers may now enjoy an expanded 150x camera zoom, a 1.5-times boost, thanks to the incorporation of Galaxy AI. Galaxy AI uses software correction to digitally enhance photos taken with the 100x optical zoom, producing better-looking images.

For this reason, the U.S. branch of Samsung Electronics has posted on its website that “Zoom with Galaxy AI is coming.”

Additionally, Galaxy AI helps with video and photo editing. When a topic is positioned off-center, Galaxy AI automatically stretches the backdrop to bring the subject into focus.

Features like taking a fresh backdrop picture or offering editing spots for easy tweaks may be included, especially when working with unsteady images or silent films.

A tool for summarizing material on websites or news items is Galaxy AI. It gives preference to using well-known terms, idioms, and sentences that people frequently use when summarizing.

It can also translate English or Chinese idioms discovered in an article upon selection, and it can quickly identify the species of a plant when clicked in a photo.

The $3,499 Vision Pro from Apple Has A Release Date At Last

According to Apple, the much-anticipated Vision Pro headset will be available for purchase in the US on February 2.

Although a debut date for the UK has not been announced, US buyers may pre-order the $3,499 (£2,749) mixed-reality device starting in mid-January.

It is the company’s first significant new product introduction since the 2015 debut of the Apple Watch.

In June 2023, the headgear was unveiled by the corporation following years of speculation throughout development.

However, problems have arisen since then. The Financial Times reports that Apple has cut its manufacturing estimates in half, from an expected one million devices in 2024 to only 400,000 units.

In addition to the release date, Apple said that the gadget would have 256GB of storage and made it clear that, in the case of an individual who is not able to utilize both eyes equally, the eye-tracking technology in the headset will be able to monitor one dominant eye.

Interestingly, though, the company is attempting to distinguish the headset from competing products by instructing developers to refer to their applications as “spatial computing” rather than “headgear.”

Kim Kardashian: Hollywood, the celebrity is closing down her popular smartphone game, which she released nearly ten years ago.

Players have been increasing their notoriety and moving up the social scale since 2014, realizing their A-list ambitions.

The 43-year-old made appearances in the game with her family members Kris Jenner and Khloé Kardashian.

Kim, however, told US magazine People that she would “forever be inspired” by the game’s community and confirmed the closure.

Hollywood was released by the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star in collaboration with mobile game company Glu.

Although it was a free-to-play game, users could buy K-stars, the in-game money, to advance in events, modeling, and dating.

“I’m so grateful from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has loved and played Kim Kardashian: Hollywood in the past 10 years,” she stated.

Although creating the game had “meant so much” to her, she stated that it was now “time to focus that energy into other passions”.

Though the game is no longer available in the Apple and Android app stores, users can continue to use its features till April 8th.

A countdown ticking down to the game’s closure has been added, according to recent pictures.

Hollywood apparently made more than $160 million after overcoming early skepticism after its premiere.

Gaming website Polygon recognized it as a paradigm for “mobile games unapologetically tailored toward young women” and included it among the top 100 games of the decade.

Scientists have demonstrated the first semiconductor made of graphene that functions. The finding may permanently alter electronics and computers.

Researchers have achieved a significant advancement in the field of electronics by producing the first functional semiconductor ever using graphene, a substance renowned for its strength, flexibility, light weight, and high resistance.

Their finding coincides with the limiting of silicon, the raw material used to make almost all contemporary devices.

Due to the fact that graphene semiconductors are faster and more energy-efficient than silicon, scientists have been working feverishly to produce them.

According to the authors, the finding opens up new possibilities for the development of electronics and may represent a significant advancement towards the next generation of computers.

The limits of silicon semiconductors are being reached.
Bits, or ones and zeros, are represented by electricity passing through silicon switches in classical computers, such as the chip in your laptop or phone.

“All computers require semiconductors in order to operate. They enable us to design little switches that can be used to turn on and off energy. Computers are able to conduct computations because of the energy that flows through electrical circuits,” said Sarah Haigh, a materials professor at the National Graphene Institute at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom.

A possibility was graphene. The strongest known chemical bonds hold graphene, a 2D substance made up of a single sheet of carbon atoms, together. Similar to honeycomb, these carbons are organized in tessellated hexagons.

About 200 times stronger than steel, it is an extraordinarily strong substance. With just one atomic layer of graphene, it is strong enough to hold up a football.

Additionally, because graphene is so flexible, it may be printed on glass, plastic, or textiles in addition to being used in batteries and electrical equipment.

Scientists are especially excited about its potential application as a quicker and more energy-efficient semiconductor.

GeForce RTX 40 SUPER Series, which includes the GeForce
RTX 4080 SUPER with a 2,550 MHz boost clock and 23 Gbps of memory.

Although NVIDIA hasn’t revealed what it will be revealing at its Special Address at CES 2024, a new promotional image that has been posted to the company’s official GeForce social media pages, including the GeForce Brazil account and Facebook, suggests that it may be the GeForce RTX 40 SUPER Series.

Here’s a big, wallpaper-worthy version of the NVIDIA graphic that appears to tease the GeForce RTX 40 SUPER Series as something extraordinary, even if it will share the same shroud as the current standard versions, complete with ARGB lighting effects:

Shortly after the complete specifications for the GeForce RTX 40 SUPER Series leaked online, exposing higher base and/or boost clocks for every model—including a faster memory clock for the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER—the new promotional picture was released.

Massive Earthquake Hit Japan

When the ground started to tremble, Minae Akiyama had flown to Ishikawa prefecture from southern Japan to spend New Year’s with her family.

Even now, thinking about it still gives me the shakes. She spoke to that from a shelter in the city of Nanao, where she and her family are currently residing in the wake of Monday’s catastrophic 7.5 magnitude earthquake. “My heart was pounding, my mind went blank, we just scrambled,” she said.

During the earthquake, Akiyama recalled hiding under a table and hoping for survival before gathering necessities and escaping outside. Following the incident, pictures taken at her mother’s home reveal tipped-over cupboards and closets, as well as food and kitchenware strewn on the floor.

Although the family was not hurt, the earthquake still feels like it happened two days later as they wait for help at the shelter and experience numerous aftershocks that pierce the earth. Some of the cement pillars of the structure are visible to be surrounded by rubble, even at the shelter.

“It feels like the building is trembling right now,” Akiyama remarked. “My body trembles whenever there is an aftershock because I think about the main earthquake.”

There’s not much more than a roof; when went on Tuesday night, there was no heating, so people slept on mats on the ground covered in heavy blankets. They wore their jackets, hats, and gloves to remain warm in the 4 degrees Celsius (40 degrees Fahrenheit) midnight thermometer.

The Japan Self-Defense Forces, which are now coordinating search and rescue activities with local governments, police, and fire departments, had to wait in line outside to obtain water since there was no flowing water. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida made this announcement on Wednesday.

China’s BYD Is Getting Closer To Capturing The Top Spot For Electric Vehicles

China’s BYD is getting closer to unseating Tesla, the electric vehicle maker owned by Elon Musk, as the largest seller globally.

In the last three months of 2023, the company reported on Monday that it had sold a record 526,000 battery-only vehicles.

A more than 70% increase in sales in December contributed to that.
Before Wall Street starts on Tuesday, US-based Tesla is expected to announce its most recent quarterly vehicle manufacturing and delivery statistics.

The Shenzen, China-based BYD reported that over 3 million “new energy vehicles” (NEVs), which comprise hybrid and battery-only cars, were sold by the company over the whole year.

According to the company, battery-only vehicles accounted for over 1.6 million of its total sales.

According to industry experts, Tesla sold 1.82 million electric vehicles in 2023 overall, including around 483,000 in the final three months of 2023.

Although Mr. Musk had stated in January of last year that Tesla could produce two million vehicles by 2023, he has since issued a warning that the demand for his company’s vehicles was being adversely affected by rising financing rates.

After a complete set of specifications leaked, NVIDIA teases the
GeForce RTX 40 SUPER Series, which includes the GeForce
RTX 4080 SUPER with a 2,550 MHz boost clock and 23 Gbps of memory.
