A First Step Toward Ultra-Fast Computers The First Functional Graphene Semiconductor
January 5, 2024 / By Zunair Tahir / Tech News
Scientists have demonstrated the first semiconductor made of graphene that functions. The finding may permanently alter electronics and computers.
Researchers have achieved a significant advancement in the field of electronics by producing the first functional semiconductor ever using graphene, a substance renowned for its strength, flexibility, light weight, and high resistance.
Their finding coincides with the limiting of silicon, the raw material used to make almost all contemporary devices.
Due to the fact that graphene semiconductors are faster and more energy-efficient than silicon, scientists have been working feverishly to produce them.
According to the authors, the finding opens up new possibilities for the development of electronics and may represent a significant advancement towards the next generation of computers.
The limits of silicon semiconductors are being reached. Bits, or ones and zeros, are represented by electricity passing through silicon switches in classical computers, such as the chip in your laptop or phone.
“All computers require semiconductors in order to operate. They enable us to design little switches that can be used to turn on and off energy. Computers are able to conduct computations because of the energy that flows through electrical circuits,” said Sarah Haigh, a materials professor at the National Graphene Institute at the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom.
A possibility was graphene. The strongest known chemical bonds hold graphene, a 2D substance made up of a single sheet of carbon atoms, together. Similar to honeycomb, these carbons are organized in tessellated hexagons.
About 200 times stronger than steel, it is an extraordinarily strong substance. With just one atomic layer of graphene, it is strong enough to hold up a football.
Additionally, because graphene is so flexible, it may be printed on glass, plastic, or textiles in addition to being used in batteries and electrical equipment.
Scientists are especially excited about its potential application as a quicker and more energy-efficient semiconductor.
According to experts, the breakthrough has enormous promise for the electronics sector. One potential benefit is that it may enable the development of novel graphene semiconductors that are far more potent than silicon equivalents while consuming less energy.
Semiconductors made of graphene may play a significant role in the development of quantum computers, such as the Chinese prototype.
Because graphene electronics can turn on and off with less energy, they are more energy-efficient. Additionally, they let electrons to move freely without producing a lot of extra heat that needs to be cooled using fans, which uses energy, according to Haigh.
“This would mean phones could last for weeks without running out of battery, reduce energy consumption in all parts of our lives, reducing costs and the pollution from fossil fuels
According to De Heer, his finding could alter electronics in the future.
The development of quantum computer technology might be expedited, to start with, by the new graphene superconductors.
Though still in the early stages of research, quantum computers can tackle problems that would take conventional supercomputers millennia to solve in a matter of seconds.
According to experts, graphene semiconductors might aid in overcoming the numerous difficulties involved in developing quantum computers.

After a complete set of specifications leaked, NVIDIA teases the GeForce RTX 40 SUPER Series, which includes the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER with a 2,550 MHz boost clock and 23 Gbps of memory.
Although NVIDIA hasn’t revealed what it will be revealing at its Special Address at CES 2024, a new promotional image that has been posted to the company’s official GeForce social media pages, including the GeForce Brazil account and Facebook, suggests that it may be the GeForce RTX 40 SUPER Series.
Here’s a big, wallpaper-worthy version of the NVIDIA graphic that appears to tease the GeForce RTX 40 SUPER Series as something extraordinary, even if it will share the same shroud as the current standard versions, complete with ARGB lighting effects:
Shortly after the complete specifications for the GeForce RTX 40 SUPER Series leaked online, exposing higher base and/or boost clocks for every model—including a faster memory clock for the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER—the new promotional picture was released.
According to a source, NVIDIA is improving the SUPER version by giving its 16GB GDDR6X RAM a little performance bump to 23 Gbps. As a result, the bandwidth over the 256-bit memory bus increases by 2.6% to 736 GB/s. The memory speed of the RTX 4070Ti/4070 SUPER will remain at 21 Gbps.
It goes on, “These SKUs are said to retain the same boost clocks as the original versions (2610 MHz and 2475 MHz, respectively), for the RTX 4070 Ti SUPER and RTX 4070 SUPER. The base clocks, which are now at 2340 MHz (+30 MHz) and 1980 MHz (+60 MHz), are just cosmetically altered.

When the ground started to tremble, Minae Akiyama had flown to Ishikawa prefecture from southern Japan to spend New Year’s with her family.
Even now, thinking about it still gives me the shakes. She spoke to that from a shelter in the city of Nanao, where she and her family are currently residing in the wake of Monday’s catastrophic 7.5 magnitude earthquake. “My heart was pounding, my mind went blank, we just scrambled,” she said.
During the earthquake, Akiyama recalled hiding under a table and hoping for survival before gathering necessities and escaping outside. Following the incident, pictures taken at her mother’s home reveal tipped-over cupboards and closets, as well as food and kitchenware strewn on the floor.
Although the family was not hurt, the earthquake still feels like it happened two days later as they wait for help at the shelter and experience numerous aftershocks that pierce the earth. Some of the cement pillars of the structure are visible to be surrounded by rubble, even at the shelter.
“It feels like the building is trembling right now,” Akiyama remarked. “My body trembles whenever there is an aftershock because I think about the main earthquake.”
At least 62 people were killed in Monday’s earthquake, which occurred on the first day of the new year, according to the prefecture’s official website. According to the report, officials are still looking for those who may be buried under debris or in isolated regions, and an unknown number of people are still unaccounted for.
Yoshimasa Hayashi, the chief cabinet secretary, had earlier on Tuesday stated that 120 people were still in need of rescue.
Situated on the more rural, western part of central Japan, the Noto Peninsula felt the tremors, which resulted in fallen buildings, fires, and tsunami alarms. Images from all over the area revealed charred buildings, broken roadways, and debris where homes previously stood in addition to whole multistory buildings that had collapsed on their sides. A few people were reminded of the 2011 Tōhoku 9.0 magnitude earthquake and tsunami, which led to a nuclear meltdown at the Fukushima power plant, by the earthquake. The majority of the deaths and missing were caused by tsunami waves, leaving over 22,000 people dead or missing. The aftermath is still being felt today.
The death toll and levels of destruction from Monday’s earthquake look to be significantly lower than those caused by the 2011 tragedy in a nation that has long been accustomed to earthquakes and where construction rules, especially in more remote places, are scrupulously adhered to. However, the depth of the damage is still being analyzed.
When the 2011 earthquake struck, Kouki Takahashi, now 28, was a middle school student in Tokyo. He currently resides in Nanao. That was a long time ago, and Tokyo was shaken, but hundreds of kilometers separated the epicenter from the city.
For Takahashi, it was much closer this time. “This felt worse than any massive earthquake I have ever experienced,” he remarked.
However, he claimed that the Monday earthquake event made him think about Tōhoku once more. It felt comparable, he remarked. “It was a similar earthquake back then (in 2011), starting with light shaking and building in intensity over time.”
When the tremors started on Monday, he was at home having a bath. He claimed to have been completely nude when he rushed outside to get into his automobile, citing the swaying of telephone poles and buildings.
He stated that, considering the regular earthquakes and the military helicopters and cars going by, the friend’s parking lot felt like the safest place to be. He spent Monday night sleeping in his car there.
His flat is still standing, but the walls are cracked. According to him, some of his acquaintances had worse luck and completely lost their homes.
Similar to the shelter Akiyama and her family are currently residing in, many such survivors are now receiving minimal aid.
There’s not much more than a roof; when went on Tuesday night, there was no heating, so people slept on mats on the ground covered in heavy blankets. They wore their jackets, hats, and gloves to remain warm in the 4 degrees Celsius (40 degrees Fahrenheit) midnight thermometer.
The Japan Self-Defense Forces, which are now coordinating search and rescue activities with local governments, police, and fire departments, had to wait in line outside to obtain water since there was no flowing water. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida made this announcement on Wednesday.
China’s BYD Is Getting Closer To Capturing The Top Spot For Electric Vehicles
January 2, 2024 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News
China’s BYD is getting closer to unseating Tesla, the electric vehicle maker owned by Elon Musk, as the largest seller globally.
In the last three months of 2023, the company reported on Monday that it had sold a record 526,000 battery-only vehicles.
A more than 70% increase in sales in December contributed to that. Before Wall Street starts on Tuesday, US-based Tesla is expected to announce its most recent quarterly vehicle manufacturing and delivery statistics.
Models Pose With A BYD Car In Japan
The Shenzen, China-based BYD reported that over 3 million “new energy vehicles” (NEVs), which comprise hybrid and battery-only cars, were sold by the company over the whole year.
According to the company, battery-only vehicles accounted for over 1.6 million of its total sales.
According to industry experts, Tesla sold 1.82 million electric vehicles in 2023 overall, including around 483,000 in the final three months of 2023.
Although Mr. Musk had stated in January of last year that Tesla could produce two million vehicles by 2023, he has since issued a warning that the demand for his company’s vehicles was being adversely affected by rising financing rates.
BYD Logo
Wang Chuanfu, the CEO of BYD, and his cousin co-founded the company in Shenzhen in 1995.
The firm gained recognition for producing rechargeable batteries that rivaled more expensive Japanese imports and were utilized in computers, cellphones, and other devices.
In 2002, it began selling shares on the public market and expanded by acquiring Qinchuan Automobile Company, a state-owned automobile manufacturer that was having financial difficulties.
Berkshire Hathaway, the seasoned US investor led by Warren Buffett, has been a stakeholder of BYD since 2008.
As to analysts, BYD’s original business, batteries, is responsible for its rise. Being some of the priciest components of an EV, BYD may save a significant amount of money by producing them internally.
Many of BYD’s rivals get their batteries from other producers.
Tokyo Auto Salon, Suzuki’s New Off-Roader Is The Cutest Concept You Will See
January 2, 2024 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News
Japanese manufacturers and tuners have a venue to display their most outrageous creations at the Tokyo Auto Salon. We’re already in love with Suzuki’s Super Carry Mountain Trail, a small, tough off-road idea that it’s bringing to the show.
We’re Already In Love With Suzuki’s Compact, Tough Off-Road Super Carry Mountain Trai Concept, Which Company Is Introducing To The Tokyo Auto Salon.
Suzuki Super Carry
The Mountain Trail idea, according to a translation of Suzuki’s release, is “a car for active adults to enjoy the mountains in a stoic manner, it expresses a new worldview of commercial vehicles that can be used not only for business but also for fun.”
An expanded cab variant of the ordinary Suzuki Carry is called the Super Carry. Even though the corporation hasn’t listed every change made to the Mountain Trail, a cursory glance reveals most of the changes.
A light bar above the windshield and a front skid plate with recovery hooks are added to the little vehicle. It appears to have a little winch as well.
The doors that were standard have been replaced with tubular parts. There are harness-equipped sport seats inside. There is a roof-mounted storage rack attached to an external roll cage.
The back is hardly visible, but it does show a spare tire and a gasoline can. Furthermore, the ride height may be somewhat higher than stock.
In the event that the Super Carry’s powertrain remains unchanged, it is still equipped with enough gear to optimize off-road traction. Customers may purchase it with a four-wheel drive system that has high and low gears for part-time use. Additionally, there is a locking differential in case the road becomes really slick.
However, the standard Super Carry is not an especially strong device. It has a 658cc three-cylinder naturally aspirated engine that produces 50 horsepower and 44 lb-ft of torque. You may be able to go off-road, but don’t expect to get very far very fast.
The Tokyo Auto Salon is taking place this year from January 12–14. By then, we would like to see further details and images of the proposed Super Carry Mountain Trail. It’s towing some equipment at the rear that is out of our direct line of sight.
Top 10: Fastest Accelerating Production Electric Cars
December 28, 2023 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive Blogs
But because electric motors can provide full torque from a stop, they are redefining what is possible in a way that is tearing up and rewriting those records.
Here, we rank the top 10 electric vehicles in terms of speed from 0 to 60 mph using the manufacturer’s stated official data. In order to set realistic expectations, consider this sobering context: a Formula 1 vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in around 2.5 seconds, therefore every car on this list has amazing drag potential, if not less so while navigating 180 mph turns.
Over the past 120 years, a number of hypercar manufacturers have broken acceleration records, including Bugatti, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, and Porsche.
10. Lotus Evija – sub-3.0 seconds
Lotus Evija
With its 2011 horsepower and sub-3.0 seconds 0-62 mph performance, the Lotus Evija is a hypercar worth over £2.4 million that aims to prove that an electric future is anything from dull. As anybody fortunate enough to be seated in one of the 130 units being produced will attest.
The Evija stands out for more reasons than just its quick acceleration; after reaching 62 mph in less time than it takes to yell, it continues to accelerate at an almost unbelievable 218 mph after reaching 186 mph from a standstill in 9.1 seconds—still faster than most common hatchbacks.
9. Porsche Taycan Turbo S – 2.6sec
Porsche Taycan Turbo S
Porsche’s first electric vehicle, the Taycan Turbo S, debuted with the goal of proving to skeptics that electric vehicles can be thrilling. It accomplished this goal admirably, offering incredible acceleration that can reach 60 miles per hour in only 2.6 seconds.
The Porsche Taycan Turbo S, despite its name, lacks a turbocharger—that was a nod to earlier, faster Porsche models—and instead has “just” a 93kWh battery that produces 751bhp total. In contrast, it takes 2.8 seconds for a Lamborghini Huracan Tecnica to reach 60 mph.
8. Tesla Model X Plaid – 2.5sec
Tesla Model X Plaid
You might be wondering how a 2.5-ton family SUV could possibly rank among the vehicles that accelerate the fastest. That’s the excitement of having an instantaneous torque and strong electric motor, but remember to keep the kids away before you release full 1006bhp.
The Plaid model’s tri-motor arrangement, which propels it down the road as hard as its tires can grip and essentially quicker than any supercar currently on sale, is the secret to the Tesla Model X’s powerful performance. In fact, in a drag race, a Bugatti Chiron (0-62mph, 2.3sec) will barely prevail over it.
7. Lucid Air – 2.5sec
Lucid Air
The flagship model of this up-and-coming automaker is the Lucid Air Dream Edition, albeit you’d have to have some pretty crazy dreams if you thought that going from a complete stop to 60 miles per hour in a stomach-turning 2.5 seconds, with a peak speed of 235 miles per hour, was among them.
California-based Lucid began selling the Air in 2021. It has two electric motors that have a combined output of 1065 horsepower. Its battery and efficiency allow it to be rated for a substantial 520 miles per charge, even if using all that power would reduce range. Its fast-charging capabilities let it to add 300 miles of range in 20 minutes (assuming you can find the suitable supercharger).
6. Faraday Future FF91 – 2.2sec
Faraday Future FF91
Leading a group of Chinese automakers hoping to build their reputations for producing cars through electrification is Faraday. The FF91 is a hybrid saloon and SUV with a striking look and a hypercar-baiting 2.2-second 0-60mph pace.
Considering its futuristic speed, it’s remarkable that the FF91 was introduced in 2017. The business stated that 64,124 bookings for the automobile had been received in just 36 hours. Though putting the concept into practice hasn’t been simple, we’re excited to see its cars on the road after receiving a lot of funding and being listed on the Nasdaq.
5. Tesla Model S Plaid – 1.99sec
Tesla Model X Plaid
One more Tesla? We’re not even close to finished, though, since Elon Musk and his group of electric pioneers have long recognized the value of a captivating performance figure. The Model S Plaid outperforms the Model X in the 0–60 mph speed of 1.99 seconds because to its slipperier design and (slightly) lower weight.
The Model S Plaid variant, like the Model X Plaid, is equipped with three motors: two on the back and one on the front axle, which together provide 1006 horsepower for the road. Its top speed is 200 mph, and it proved it could handle turns by lapping the Nürburgring in 7 minutes and 30.9 seconds, more than ten seconds quicker than the Taycan Turbo S.
4. Tesla Roadster – 1.9 seconds
Tesla Roadster
According to rumors, the 200kWh battery of the second generation Tesla Roadster would provide 1000 horsepower, all housed in a comparatively light body. Whatever the specifics, it’s obvious that the Roadster—which can reach 60 mph in 1.9 seconds—must be the quickest Tesla.
It’s important to note that the Roadster is mentioned here more for potential than actuality. Having been unveiled as a concept as early as 2017 and suggested for production almost annually since 2020, nobody, not even Elon Musk, is certain when the project will go on sale.
3. Pininfarina Battista – 1.79sec
Pininfarina Battista
There is a little dispute here since, despite recording a time of 1.79 seconds from 0 to 60 mph, the Pininfarina Battista has not yet received homologation. Thus, some choose to emphasize its performance using the official estimate of 2.0 seconds instead. To be honest, we’re willing to include it in this list despite the disclaimers, assertions, and rebuttals surrounding the majority of these numbers.
The Battista’s four electric motors, which produced a powerful 1726 lb ft of torque and 1877 bhp, were the same as those used in the Rimac Nevera. To experience a glimpse of this incredible performance, you will need to shell out around £1.9 million (€2.2 million) to be listed as the owner of one of the 150 cars that are scheduled for manufacture.
2. Rimac Nevera – 1.74sec
Rimac Nevera
Rimac’s remarkable journey, which began with the development of its own electric hypercars in Croatia and continued with co-owning Bugatti and working on several established automakers’ electric projects, is highlighted by the performance metrics of its own-label vehicles. With its 1914 horsepower, the Nevera can reach 200 mph in 10.8 seconds and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 1.74 seconds.
The Rimac Nevera’s ability to go at top speed under any circumstances stems from the fact that each wheel contains a strong electric motor. A massive 120kWh battery pack powers all of that speed. The only drawback is that you’ll need to spend more than £2.4 million to experience all of this performance.
1. Aspark Owl – 1.72sec
Aspark Owl
Aside from frightening mice, owls are well-known for many other things, although maybe not for their lightning-fast reflexes while stationary. The Aspark owl, manufactured in China, promises to alter all of that with its four electric motors producing 1985 horsepower and an astounding (literally, we assume) 0-60 mph pace of 1.72 seconds. With a range of 280 miles, the Aspark Owl can reach an incredible peak speed of 249 mph.
It’s much harder to own the fastest-accelerating production car in the world than it is to read about it, though. To begin with, Aspark claims it will only produce 50, and each will cost about £2.5 million. Moreover, there’s the question of whether the relatively unknown company will live up to its promise, as it has only shown a static model thus far while it works to bring the concept to market. Although its goals are commendable, we’re eager to see them confirmed.
The president, who has the authority to veto the decision, has sixty days to examine the USITC order after it was made. Christmas Day marked the end of the evaluation session.
Following “careful consultations,” the office of US Trade Representative Ambassador Katherine Tai said on Wednesday that it has made the decision not to overturn the USITC’s ruling.
In October, the USITC determined that Apple had violated two US-based patents held by Masimo Corporation and Cercacor Laboratories, Inc.
The California-based business claimed that Apple had stolen their technology to assess blood oxygen levels and was also stealing important employees.
The contentious blood oxygen function has been a part of the majority of Apple Watch models since 2020. The SE model, which costs less, doesn’t. The prohibition will not apply to timepieces that have already been sold.
Apple claims to have also submitted an urgent application to have the prohibition lifted by the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
“We strongly disagree with the USITC decision and resulting exclusion order, and are taking all measures to return Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 to customers in the US as soon as possible,” the company said in a statement issued on Tuesday.
In order for Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to determine whether the modified watches—which do not have the disputed technology—violate Masimo’s patents, Apple had requested a temporary restraining order. The CBP is expected to decide on January 12th, an Apple representative informed me.
According to Masimo, the White House’s choice is a momentous occasion.
“This is a win for the integrity of the US patent system, and ultimately American consumers, who will benefit from an ecosystem that rewards true innovation,” a spokeswoman for the firm said.
US Delivers Ukraine Its Final Round Of Military Assistance
December 28, 2023 / By Zunair Tahir / World News
On Wednesday, the US said that the final installment of military assistance to Ukraine had been disbursed.
$250 million (€225 million) in support was agreed by the White House, but any funding will require new congressional approval.
Republican and Democratic negotiations have come to a standstill.
For its part, the Kremlin has bet that dwindling Western assistance will be essential to its ultimate success in Ukraine.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated in a statement on Wednesday, “It is imperative that Congress act as soon as possible to advance our national security interests by helping Ukraine defend itself.”
Ammo for anti-tank weaponry and air defense systems is included in the most recent aid package. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine is further disappointed by Congress’s refusal to authorize further cash, which comes after Kyiv’s summer counteroffensive failed and Russian forces continued to press their cause.
Prior to this, the White House threatened to “run out of resources” for Ukraine “by the end of the year.”
Zelenskyy attempted to exert further pressure when he visited Washington in December, his third visit to the US capital in as many months. However, concerns about Moscow’s “as long as it takes” support of Ukraine are becoming more prevalent nearly two years after the country began its brutal invasion.
Republicans on the right have made it clear that they will only approve further US aid to Ukraine if immigration laws are tightened here.
This contentious topic was not resolved in a timely manner.
On January 8, US legislators will take up the assistance question once more.
Senate leaders, both Republican and Democratic, have stated that they plan to approve a fresh round of aid that will include economic, humanitarian, and military support.
The complexity lies with the House of Representatives, which must also approve these money.
Mike Johnson, the country’s new Republican president, says there is insufficient regulation on US aid, but he is not against it being extended.
As A Rally Legend, The Suzuki Jimny Looks Even Better
December 28, 2023 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News
These Two Crossovers Carry On The Spirit Of The Lancia Delta Integrale And Renault 5
The legendary off-roader and cult favorite Suzuki Jimny is about to get a makeover just in time for the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon, all thanks to the creative efforts of Japanese tuning company DAMD.
Known for producing unique body packages for little Japanese automobiles, the business will present two striking designs that honor classic European models: the Renault 5 and the esteemed Lancia Delta Integrale.
Suzuki Jimny for 2024 Tokyo Auto Saloon
First off, the Jimny, as interpreted by DAMD, is a tiny crossover with headlights that are similar to those of the Renault 5 and a radiator grille that matches the small hatchback.
The Jimny’s white OZ wheels give it a rally-ready appearance, and the little spoiler at the back is a nod to the 5’s soft wing. Interestingly, unlike the original Renault 5 Turbo, a sticker on the side indicates that this vehicle is non-turbo.
DAMD also offers a Jimny that is modeled after the Lancia Delta Integrale if you like a more aggressive appearance. The company’s redesign, with its four circular headlights and yellow fog lamps built into the bumper, perfectly embodies the spirit of the Italian rally hatch. A bigger spoiler is located at the back.
Suzuki Jimny For The 2024 Tokyo Auto Saloon
Regretfully, the two crossovers’ rally-inspired styling isn’t complemented by any mechanical changes. The little off-road vehicle in Japan is equipped with a tiny 658-cc three-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 63 horsepower and 71 pound-feet of torque.
A 1.5-liter naturally aspirated mill with 101 horsepower and 102 lb-ft of torque is available in foreign markets. However, those figures don’t alter.
Japan Allow The World’s Largest Nuclear Facility To Reopen
December 28, 2023 / By Zunair Tahir / World News
TEPCO’s Kashiwazaki-Kariwa facility is now able to resume operations following the lifting of the safety prohibition. The facility still need authorization from regional administrations, though.
The biggest nuclear power plant in the world, Tokyo Electric Power’s (TEPCO) Kashiwazaki-Kariwa reactor, was freed from a safety prohibition, the Japanese nuclear authority said on Wednesday.
Because of the plant’s high running costs, TEPCO has been considering restarting it. It is currently required to obtain authorization from local authorities in Kariwa village, Kashiwazaki city, and Niigata prefecture.
TEPCO’s sole operational atomic power plant was the 8,212 megawatt (MW) Kashiwazaki-Kariwa facility. Since all of Japan’s nuclear power reactors were shut down in the wake of the Fukushima accident in March 2011, the site has been unavailable since 2012. The de facto restriction was lifted by the Japanese Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NRA) when it was determined that TEPCO was now better equipped. The body has carried out more than 4,000 hours of inspection of its facilities.
The facility was previously prohibited from functioning by the NRA in 2021 as a result of safety violations and inadequate counterterrorism measures. This includes an event when an unapproved employee gained access to key plant sections and a failure to safeguard nuclear items.
Subsequently, it issued an injunction prohibiting TEPCO from putting fuel rods into its reactors or bringing in fresh uranium fuel for the facility.
The government’s principal spokesperson, Yoshimasa Hayashi, stated, “The government will seek the understanding and cooperation of Niigata prefecture and local communities, emphasizing’safety-first’.”
Following the ruling, TEPCO declared that it will keep trying to win over the local populace and society at large to its cause. A Tokyo court decided on Tuesday that TEPCO, the only operator of the nuclear power plant Fukushima that was destroyed by the tsunami, was required to compensate the evacuees, numbering in the hundreds.
Japan has been working to lessen its dependency on imported fossil fuels by reactivating all of its domestic nuclear power facilities that adhere to the safety network. However, there are instances where residents or other regulatory agencies object.
