The government now intends to transfer accountability to private car dealerships throughout the city, with the free Emission Testing System (ETS) program in Lahore scheduled to expire on June 30.
After the free service ends, ETS-related services will be contracted out to dealerships of all auto and vehicle manufacturing enterprises in Lahore, according to Environment Protection and Climate Change Department Secretary Raja Jahangir Anwar.
These dealerships will have trained personnel to do emission testing and ETS equipment. Owners of vehicles must pay Rs. 400 for each test at these locations.
The agency thinks this approach will greatly boost the number of automobiles that are evaluated. According to Raja Jahangir Anwar, offering the service through approved dealerships would increase car owners’ comfort and efficiency, particularly since demand for the service keeps rising.
With 20 sites spread around Lahore, the ETS program was first introduced as a free service. Three squads are normally housed at each facility; nevertheless, lengthy lines and complaints of delays have brought attention to the system’s shortcomings.
After enough cars have been tested under the new approach, the government intends to expedite the emission testing procedure and proceed with wider enforcement.

In defiance of US President Donald Trump’s demands for a “unconditional surrender,” Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared he would not submit to Israel, sparking rumors that Washington would join the Israeli strikes.
Khamenei stated in a statement released by the semi-official Fars news agency on Wednesday that “the Americans should know that any military incursion by the United States will undoubtedly result in irreparable damage.”
A slew of Trump social media tweets and diplomatic moves from the White House seemed to suggest the US president is thinking about joining the battle, a significant choice that would define his term. The likelihood of Iran’s nuclear development being permanently stopped would be significantly increased by direct US military action with Israel, but doing so would run the danger of igniting a protracted battle in the oil-rich area.
Trump made a call for Iran’s surrender and warned a potential strike against Khamenei on Tuesday before meeting with his national security team to address the growing conflict.
Trump said on social media, “We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding.” “We are not going to kill him, at least not right now, even though he is a simple target and safe there.”
According to those with knowledge of the situation, the Tuesday discussion in the US capital lasted more than an hour. According to a White House official, Trump then had a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. There were no further formal remarks.
The White House declared that Trump will meet with the head of Pakistan’s army on Wednesday, only hours after the Situation Room meeting. The South Asian nation, which is one of Iran’s most important allies, has stated that it would be open to serving as a mediator between the US and Iran.
Citing direct connection with his counterpart in Tehran, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stated Monday that Iran is amenable to restarting discussions over its atomic activities if Israel abstains from carrying out any strikes.
“Successful negotiations between the United States and Iran was always our goal,” Dar said in parliament.
The avowed goal of Israel’s attack, which started late last week, is to destroy the Islamic Republic’s atomic program completely, and US weapons are seen to be essential to this goal. Trump has so far rejected requests from certain political friends to join strikes on Iran, despite the fact that the US is Israel’s closest defense partner and arms supplier.
Israel is interested in US involvement because of its military capabilities, including B-2 planes and bunker busting bombs, as well as the benefit of having the most powerful nation in the world on its side. However, authorities have been reluctant to approach Washington directly in an effort to prevent resistance from Republicans.
According to two senior Israeli officials who asked not to be named while discussing sensitive topics, Israel prepared the operation without US help and could carry it out on its own if needed. According to one of the sources, Israel has already done the most of the hard work by destroying the majority of Iran’s missile defense systems and causing damage to the nuclear plant in Natanz, giving the US a significant security edge without sending troops into the conflict.
Wednesday saw minimal movement in US futures as traders partially shifted their attention to a monetary policy announcement from the Federal Reserve. After reversing early declines, oil prices increased by 0.4%, with Brent trading slightly below $77 per barrel.
When Israel launched surprise assaults on Iranian military and nuclear facilities this week, killing senior commanders and atomic scientists, long-standing tensions between Iran and Israel broke out into open combat. Since then, it has gained air supremacy over a large portion of Iran, giving it the freedom to strike infrastructure and important cities whenever it pleases.

As Israel and Iran trade heavy strikes and threaten further attacks, Pakistan said Monday that it has blocked all of its border crossings with neighboring Iran for an indeterminate length of time.
As Israel and Iran trade heavy strikes and threaten further assaults, Pakistan said Monday that it has blocked all of its border crossings with neighboring Iran for an indeterminate length of time.
Qadir Bakhsh Pirkani, a senior official in the Iranian border region of Balochistan, told AFP that “border facilities in all five districts — Chaghi, Washuk, Panjgur, Kech, and Gwadar — have been suspended.”
Atta ul Munim, an officer at one of the crossings in the Chaghi area, stated that entry into Iran “has been suspended until further notice.”
He clarified, however, that there was “no ban on trade” activity at the border and that Pakistani people who needed to leave Iran to return to their country may do so.
About 200 Pakistani students are anticipated to arrive today, Atta stated.
Ishaq Dar, the foreign minister of Pakistan, announced on Sunday that 450 Pakistani pilgrims had been evacuated from Iran and Iraq, the two nations that are home to the holiest sites in Shiite Islam, with more to follow.
The only Muslim-majority nation with nuclear weapons, Pakistan, declared Friday that it “stands in solidarity with the Government and the people of Iran” against Israeli assaults that neither Tehran nor Islamabad acknowledge.
On Monday, Khawaja Asif, the defense minister of Pakistan, accused Israel of lacking “any international nuclear discipline” and cautioned that the world “should be wary and apprehensive about Israel’s nuclear prowess.”
Despite not having proclaimed it, Israel is the only nuclear-armed state in the Middle East.
According to media reports, Pakistan could back Tehran if the war intensifies, but Islamabad authorities have reaffirmed that their nation is merely demonstrating “moral and diplomatic solidarity.”
The border between Shiite-majority Iran and Pakistan, which is primarily Sunni, runs more than 900 kilometers (560 miles).
The two neighbors have a complicated relationship; Pakistan is frequently cautious of US-led sanctions on Tehran while also being aware of its relationship with Riyadh, which has frequently assisted in reviving its economy by forgiving past-due loans.
Officials have pledged to increase the two nations’ $3 billion in bilateral commerce to $10 billion in the upcoming years.

India and Pakistan engaged in combat after the former accused Islamabad of being responsible for the Pahalgam incident. Under the guise of Operation Sindoor, New Delhi launched a series of airstrikes against Pakistan on the evening of May 6-7, which caused civilian deaths.
After then, there was a week-long missile exchange between the two sides. For both sides to ultimately put down their weapons, American action was necessary.
US President Donald Trump declared a truce between India and Pakistan on Saturday, when tensions between the two nations were at their highest.
The Indian attack claimed the lives of 40 civilians, including seven women and fifteen children, and injured 121 more, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
According to the release, Naik Abdul Rehman, Sepoy Muhammad Adeel Akbar, Sepoy Nisar, Naik Waqar Khalid, Lance Naik Dilawar Khan, and Lance Naik Ikramullah are among the Pakistan Army martyrs.
Squadron Leader Usman Yousuf, Chief Technician Aurangzeb, Senior Technician Najeeb, Corporal Technician Farooq, and Senior Technician Mubashir are among the Pakistan Air Force martyrs.
In its statement, the ISPR said, “Under the banner of Marka-i-Haq, the Pakistan Armed Forces mounted a resolute response, delivering precise and notch-up retributive strikes through Operation Bunyanum Marsoos.”
According to the statement, “their valiant martyrdom is a timeless symbol of bravery, devotion, and unwavering patriotism — etched forever in the nation’s memory.”
“There should never be any doubt that any attempt to undermine Pakistan’s sovereignty or territorial integrity will be met with a prompt, comprehensive, and decisive response.”
The ISPR extended sincere prayers for the injured and paid respect to the military members and civilians who were slain.
The statement reiterated that Pakistan “remains resolute in the face of aggression” and said, “Let there be no ambiguity: any attempt to challenge Pakistan’s sovereignty or territorial integrity, ever again, shall be met with a swift, full-spectrum, and decisive response.”
Youm-e-Marka-i-Haq will be celebrated annually on May 10th in honor of the “magnificent success” of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, according to PM Shehbaz Sharif. He said that Friday, May 16, 2025, will be a day to honor the military for its outstanding achievements on the front lines of defense and to express thankfulness to God.

The news was recently reported by us. The genuine Apple iPhone 16e costs only $599. However, you should be mindful of what you can lose if you purchase the iPhone 16e. Some are readily apparent, and a cursory examination of the device will reveal the functionalities that are lacking. When compared to the other members of the family, the iPhone 16e’s interior features are severely missing.
Similar to how Apple didn’t provide a description for the “SE” designation in earlier iterations, the Phone 16e also lacked one for the letter “e.” Is it “essential” or “economical”? An Apple representative who was questioned about the new name gave us a hint, but we might never know. “The iPhone 16e is for everyone,” he said exactly.
Given its $600 price tag, we suppose the iPhone 16e is for everyone. It is undoubtedly cost-effective enough for even underdeveloped nations. Ironically, though, there is a price associated with the lower pricing. In addition to lacking a separate ultrawide or telephoto lens, we discover that the 16e with a single rear-facing camera has limited utility.
You won’t be able to use Cinematic or Action mode while recording on the iPhone 16e. This might be a deal breaker for those who are interested in the iPhone’s ultra-stable action footage or video bokeh effect. For the time being, only Apple’s high-end phones have such options. These new capabilities are reflected in the pricing of the most recent iPhone, making it a more costly but sophisticated choice.
The iPhone 16 series featured a new function called photographic styles. Unfortunately, this new iPhone 16e does not have them either. The iPhone 16e at least retains Apple’s previous style filters, but you can’t adjust your images with higher contrast or deeper shadows like the other siblings.
It’s not quite accurate to say that the iPhone 16e’s touted Apple A18 processor is as powerful as the other 16 models. Because the 16e only has four cores rather than the original A18 chip’s five, its GPU isn’t as strong. However, the CPU speeds were maintained if you are simply concerned with ordinary use and are not concerned with gaming.
Regarding the screen, the iPhone 16e’s 6.1″ OLED XDR Super Retina display is comparable to the iPhone 16. But when comparing numbers directly, the panel doesn’t grow much brighter or dimmer. Additionally, the iPhone 16e lacks the Dynamic Island, although because it substitutes the iPhone SE’s far worse top-bottom bar, this isn’t a major issue.
Though innovative, Apple’s in-house C1 modem for the iPhone 16e is not as good as the modem for the iPhone 16 or 16 Pro. The 16e’s reduction from WiFi 7 to WiFi 6 is most likely due to the C1 chip. Although the chip’s full potential is unknown, the iPhone 16e may not include WiFi 7 as a cost-cutting measure.
The ultra-wideband UWB chip, which often aids previous iPhone models in locating an Apple Air tag, is even absent from the iPhone 16e. Additionally, new functions like wireless contact exchange are lost when a chip is lost. Although it’s not a deal-breaker, you should be aware of the iPhone 16e’s shortcomings.
To this extensive list of lacking functionality, add the inability to support Thread. The iPhone 16e lacks the protocol needed to communicate with Internet of Things devices, such as smart lights, locks, and thermostats. You may thus need to figure out a workaround for your iPhone 16e.
Because the iPhone 16e lacks hardware, some of these capabilities are not available. Some may get better in the future since they are software-bound. The consumer must ultimately determine if the $600 cost of the iPhone 16e outweighs the loss of these functionalities. This list of features that are lacking should hopefully help you make a decision. According to Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General of ISPR, Pakistan would stop at nothing to eradicate terrorist networks and ensure the safety of its people.
Speaking at a news conference in Rawalpindi on Friday, he declared that Fitna al-Khwarij and its supporters would not stop fighting terrorism until the last Kharji were eradicated.
Pakistan’s military has made unmatched sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, according to the Director General of ISPR. According to him, the martyrs of Pakistan’s military forces and law enforcement agencies are honored throughout the country.
According to Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, during the past year, 59,000 and 775 intelligence-based operations have been carried out against terrorists and those who assist them. He said that throughout these operations, 925 terrorists, including Khwarij, were slain.
According to the ISPR Director General, 27 Afghan terrorists and 73 high-value targets were also slain. Fourteen suspected terrorists turned themselves in, he said.
During these counterterrorism operations, 383 courageous commanders and troops accepted martyrdom, he added.
The ISPR Chief stated that Pakistan was crucial to maintaining peace and stability in Afghanistan, its neighbor. However, it is regrettable that terrorists have consistently used Afghan territory to fuel terrorism within Pakistan.
He stated that Pakistan’s concerns about the sanctuaries of the banned groups within Afghanistan and their facilitation of terrorist operations within Pakistan have been firmly conveyed by Army Chief General Syed Asim Munir.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated that all of the developments under the Western Border Management Regime plan are almost finished.
According to him, landmines and explosive ordnance have been removed from 72% of tribal districts. According to him, the administration is still pursuing a crackdown on drugs, stockpiling, power theft, and smuggling. The unlawful spectrum has drastically decreased as a result of this method.
According to the ISPR Chief, the one-document policy’s implementation has also contributed to a decrease in unauthorized border crossings. He said that since September of last year, 815 thousand illegal Afghan nationals had returned to their homeland.
Speaking about the situation along the Line of Control, Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated that although India is engaged in false flag operations and ceasefire breaches, its military forces are well equipped to respond appropriately to any assault.
He said that the people of Pakistan are supporting their Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their just fight for independence, while the authorities of New Delhi are oppressing the Indian illegally occupied region of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said that Pakistan will keep helping the people of Kashmir politically, legally, diplomatically, and morally. He said that India is engaging in state terrorism worldwide, which includes the targeted murder of Sikhs abroad.

Qualcomm’s newest and best CPU, the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, is a powerful tiny silicon device. Therefore, a recently found intriguing snippet of code suggests that the Galaxy S25 Ultra may include on-device AI picture editing.
The ability to do various AI operations locally on the device rather than relying on the cloud is a major selling feature of Apple Intelligence.
This removes the requirement to constantly be online and also offers a stronger assurance of privacy. Additionally, it appears that the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor has enough capability to enable on-device AI picture editing.
Special features for different chipsets were noted in the code that was discovered. The “FEATURE_GEN_EDIT_ON_DEVICE” function of the Snapdragon 8 Elite essentially speaks for itself. Other tools were also mentioned, although it’s unclear if they can function without the cloud.
Samsung incorporates new AI technologies into its flagship phones in a number of ways, including this one. The Galaxy S25 series will be accompanied with a redesigned Bixby AI assistant that is powered by LLM. The iPhone 16 would be outperformed by the new Bixby if it lives up to my expectations.
Additionally, the code confirmed that Snapdragon processors will power the whole S25 family. For the S25 phones, no Exynos or other chipsets were mentioned.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra’s entire leaked specifications sheet indicates that, although being fairly similar to its predecessor, the phone will still be a powerful device. To enhance on-device AI performance, 16 GB of RAM, which hasn’t been available since the Galaxy S21 Ultra, is probably also a possibility.
With good reason, all of the leading phone makers are investing heavily in AI. I think it really helps in a number of areas, even if some people might find it bothersome.
The capabilities that artificial intelligence (AI) on phones will have in a few years are much beyond image production and photo editing.
