KIMI RAIKKONEN To Retire From F1 At the End of the 2021 F1 Season

September 2, 2021 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News

Kimi Räikkönen, a former world champion, has announced that he would retire from Formula One at the end of the season. The 41-year-old, who won his lone drivers’ championship with Ferrari in 2007, has spent the last three years with Alfa Romeo and will retire from the sport after the calendar’s last race in Abu Dhabi in December.

Räikkönen debuted in Formula One in 2001 and was a title contender within two years, finishing second to Michael Schumacher until Fernando Alonso pipped him to the crown in 2005. In the 2007 season, the Espoo-born driver finally had his crowning moment, defeating his previous team McLaren and its drivers Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton to win the world championship.

  • The 2007 World Champion retains the record for the most Formula One starts.
  • Finn’s 20-year career comes to a close with three seasons at Alfa Romeo.

He broke the record for most Formula One starts at the 2020 Eifel Grand Prix. Räikkönen joined Sauber-Petronas as a regular driver in 2001, having previously raced in only 23 car races.

Formula One may be coming to a close for me, but there is still so much more in life that I want to do. After all of this, I’ll see you around! Regards, Kimi.”

“Truly the end of an era for our sport,” Alfa Romeo stated on Twitter. Thank you for everything; Formula One will be a different place without you. Kimi, kiitos.”

Al-Haj Proton Shares Exciting News About Car Deliveries

Al-Haj Proton Shares Exciting News About Car Deliveries

August 31, 2021 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News

Following a decrease in the COVID-19 infection rate in Malaysia, Proton’s production and sales activities have been restarted. As a result of this event, Al-Haj Proton has stated on its social media account that it is working hard to guarantee that automobiles are delivered to clients as soon as possible.

According to the official notification, the company’s restart of operations would allow it to not only assure ease in the importation of CBUs, but also to delve into local assembly of its cars.
The business has indicated on many occasions that their assembly facility in Pakistan is nearing completion, however CKD activities were halted due to challenges in international shipment during the current Coronavirus outbreak in Central and South Asia.
Now appears to be the ideal moment for Al-Haj Proton to focus on establishing a significant market presence, since the business is going to face stiff competition from BAIC, which has recently entered the Pakistani automobile market.

BAIC Pakistan has broken its long quiet by posting on Facebook that BAIC automobile reservations would be available shortly. Yesterday we saw on Facebook the BAIC Pakistan posted a short video of the Sazgar Engineering Works Limited (SEWL) factory show the factory tour and the locally production starts of the BAIC BJ40 car.

The Company share the information of their locally production car but did not declare which Model will come first and which booking will starts first people are desperately waiting to see the BAIC Cars on the road and to test drive their cars on the Road.

On August 27, Sazgar Engineering Works Limited (SEWL) submitted an official notification to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) indicating that “commercial manufacturing of the BAIC cars would begin with effect from September 1, 2021, following a successful conclusion of the trial operation.”

The video, on the other hand, implies that the business has already started producing its automobiles.

For fans, vehicle purchasers, and experts, SEWL’s silence on BAIC’s formal debut in Pakistan had been cause for alarm, but BAIC may have chosen a wise approach to the local auto industry’s persisting issues.

Several new manufacturers, including MG JW, Al-Haj Proton, Prince DFSK, and Master Changan Motors, have been chastised by automobile customers owing to repeated delays in vehicle delivery, which is a problem that the automakers are attempting to resolve.

The majority of the delays have been caused by obstacles in the overseas shipment of Completely Built-Up (CBU) units that these manufacturers have advertised for Pakistan.
BAIC has clearly made a deliberate choice by starting manufacturing of the cars before the official launch, which will undoubtedly allow it to have a big market effect by keeping up with increasing demand better than its competitors.

Changan Pakistan has hiked the price of their cars by Rs120,000.

Changan Pakistan has hiked the price of their cars by Rs120,000.

August 26, 2021 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News

Changan Pakistan has hiked rates throughout its whole portfolio by Rs120,000, just a month after lowering prices. The company cited rising freight and delivery costs as the reason for the rise.

After announcing the Alsvin sedan’s debut price in January, the Chinese automaker raised the price of its two automatic models by up to Rs101,000 barely two months later in March.

Changan was one of the last automakers to lower automobile prices in July, following the government’s announcement of different incentives. The new policies were designed to relieve the load on the general public, stimulate vehicle sales, and encourage local businesses. Reduced sales tax and extra customs charge were among the numerous incentives given.

The firm told its authorised dealerships on Tuesday that all of its vehicles will be sold at reduced rates, according to a circular published on Tuesday. The Covid-19 has resulted in increased freight charges and total shipment costs, according to the report.

The circular continued, “The firm has no alternative but to pass on part of the increased costs to the product price,” and asked dealers to explain the situation to customers.

According to the notice, all Alsvin versions have witnessed a price increase of Rs120,000. Alsvin 1.3 M/T is now available at a lower price of Rs2,269,000, down from Rs2,149,000. Similarly, the price of the Alsvin 1.3 DCT has increased to Rs2,519,000 from Rs2,399,000 previously. Alsvin Lumiere 1.5 DCT is now priced at Rs2,709,000, up from Rs2,589,000 before. Karvaan and Karvaan plus would now cost Rs1,519,000 and Rs1,659,000, respectively, after a Rs120,000 price increase.
Similarly, the Changan M9’s price has increased from Rs1.234,000 to Rs1,354,000.

Ateeq Ur Rehman, an economic and financial analyst, has claimed that freight rates by road, air, and sea are becoming more expensive with each passing day, emphasizing that competition is raising the cost of doing business for both importers and exporters.

Next Year, the “MG GT” (MG 5) will be launched in Pakistan.

August 25, 2021 / By Zunair Tahir /Automotive News

According to Pakwheels.com, the MG 5 sedan will make its debut in Pakistan a year from now, bringing another promising addition to Pakistan’s C-Segment compact sedan market.

Gallery

As none of the cars teased by the Javed Afridi has make their way into the Pakistan market Only HS and ZS crossovers are available so far and due to covid-19 situation their has been delay in the delivery of the vehicles so far as the MG5 will be re introduced in Pakistan as MG GT (‘GT’ stands for Gran Turismo or Grand Touring,).

INTERIOR

As Pak wheels share the new look of the MG5 OR MT GT it will be direct compete with other big Manufacture car that’s are available in Pakistan right now like Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, and Hyundai Elantra.

Let’s take a closer look at each of these aspects and assess the vehicle’s market potential in Pakistan.

Engine Options

MG5 OR MG GT Will be available in Pakistan in two Different Engine Variants

  • 1.5 litre normally aspirated 4 cylinder petrol engine with 119 horsepower (hp) and 135 newton-meters (nm) of torque
  • 1.5 litre turbocharged 4 cylinder petrol engine with 173 hp and 230 nm of torque, will be available for the MG GT or MG5.

Features

As MG GT OR MG5 is a Modern Vehicle it will be equipped with Different Features as Follow

  • 6-way adjustable driver seat
  • 4-way adjustable front passenger seat
  • Foldable rear seats
  • Adjustable steering column
  • Multi-function control switches on the steering wheel
  • Keyless entry
  • Push start
  • Power windows
  • Premium six-speaker stereo
  • 10.1-inch touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple Carplay
  • Cruise control
  • Electronic climate control

Expected Price

Nonetheless, it is expected that the car would cost between Rs. 3.7 million and Rs. 4.3 million. However, given Javed Afridi’s fixation on MG automobiles being competitively priced, it’s probable that the vehicle will be priced slightly lower than the competitors. Let’s hope the latter situation holds true for the Pakistani market.

Given that the MG GT will be released as a direct rival to the Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, and Hyundai Elantra, it will most likely be priced similarly. However, it is unclear if the GT will be released in Pakistan next year as a locally built car or as a Completely Built-up Unit (CBU), which will have a considerable influence on its pricing. Some testing Units of MG GT Has arrived in Pakistan to be tested on Pakistani Roads

THE VW Beetle Turns Chinese | ORA Punk Cat Car Electric

THE VW Beetle Turns Chinese | ORA Punk Cat Car Electric

August 23, 2021 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News

Volkswagen’s Beetle Has been reborn as a four-door Electric car in China under the name : PUNK CAT

The Ora Punk Cat is an electric vehicle designed to look like a vintage Volkswagen Beetle. Unless VW intervenes, the car will be available to Chinese consumers before the end of the year.

It looks that if Volkswagen does not want to manufacture an electric Beetle, someone else will. Great Wall Motors presented the Ora Punk Cat, a four-door electric car that bears a remarkable similarity to the VW Beetle, with its round headlights and distinctive hood that takes up about a third of the vehicle, at this week’s Shanghai Auto Show.

In 2019, Volkswagen ended production of the Beetle. The German carmaker aims to release an electric van based on the original VW Bus in 2024, but there are no plans to bring the famous bug back. Perhaps the Ora Punk Cat will persuade it to rethink, particularly if it succeeds in China.

BUDGET ELECTRIC CAR

Ora is a Great Wall electric sub-brand that specialises in tiny battery-powered cars. The Ora iQ, the company’s first vehicle, was released in 2018 as a compact crossover with a 46.57 kWh battery and a range of 250 miles on a single charge.

Great Wall hasn’t revealed any details on the Punk Cat, but it will be available before the end of the year, according to the company. Volkswagen, predictably, has sent a statement to Carscoops stating that it is aware of the Punk Cat and is considering legal action.

“We are investigating this situation for any potential infringement of Volkswagen AG utility model or design rights, and we retain the right to take any required legal action,” a spokesman stated.

Ora’s take on the Beetle is actually very great. And many automobiles from other manufacturers have a striking resemblance that no one notices. Someone else should be permitted to build a new electric Beetle if VW does not wish to. When it comes to industries that are crucial to China’s economy, such as electric cars, Chinese policymakers have a history of ignoring foreign IP conflicts. The government’s significant subsidies to assist firms reach mass manufacturing and make China a global leader in green energy have fueled low pricing for electric automobiles there.

Pak Suzuki is retiring Bolan and Ravi after 40 years

August 16, 2021 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News

Suzuki plans to phase out the Bolan minivan and Ravi truck after nearly 40 years and replace them with the 660cc Suzuki Every by 2023.

The news was going in the market that Pak Suzuki will discontinue its famous Bolan & Ravi but it has been confirmed by a reliable sources in the market In 1982/83, Suzuki introduced the Bolan as a Hi-Roof model. “When local assembly at Karachi’s Bin Qasim plant began in 1991, it was called Bolan and its pickup variant Ravi.” it is widely popular among people of Pakistan it fulfills every one needs.

Pak Suzuki, on the other hand, is claimed to be planning to phase out the 800cc Bolan Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) by next year, which would be the model’s 40th year in Pakistan.

Euro-2 compliance was the reason that the Suzuki Mehran and Daihatsu Cuore was discontinue in Pakistan and due to lack of the space in the interior for the air bags bolan & ravi will also follow the same pattern and will be discontinue and will be replaced by the Suzuki Every. Pak Suzuki is planning to replace the seventh-generation Bolan with the eleventh-generation 660cc Suzuki Every, according to at least four independent individuals familiar with the situation.

The Engineering Development Board, the auto industry’s regulating organization, was ordered by the Lahore High Court in February to guarantee that vehicle firms construct automobiles with airbags. Suzuki bolan & Suzuki Ravi lack the space of airbags and does not meet the safety standards and safety regulation and replaced with Suzuki every which is currently imported and sold as a CBU in Pakistan, but the PSMC aims to sell it as a domestically built vehicle in the near future.

By the middle of 2023, it is expected that the government’s obligatory airbags limitation would compel businesses to exclusively build automobiles with airbags. Technically, this will compel Pak Suzuki to stop producing the Bolan and Ravi pickup trucks after June 2023 since airbags cannot be added due to a shortage of space.
