According to dealers, Pak Suzuki has Discontinued the 2nd Gen Swift and put a halt on Cultus bookings

September 7, 2021 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News

Pak Suzuki Motor Company is rumoured to be planning to phase out its second-generation Swift model in Pakistan, more than 12 years after its introduction, while bookings for the Cultus have been temporarily suspended.

According to a notice provided by the business in August of last year, the Swift, the second-generation hatchback, would be discontinued after August 2021.

The Suzuki Swift’s popularity has waned in Pakistan for the past 12 years, possibly because the firm has made no substantial improvements to the car. In the meanwhile, the firm released other more cheap hatchback choices, such as the new Suzuki Cultus, which has been a huge hit. Furthermore, the car faced competition from other newcomers to the market, such as the Kia Picanto, which drew a large number of consumers despite having a 1000cc engine choice.

The company has made no substantial changes or enhancements to its second-generation hatchback in recent years, resulting in reduced sales. According to the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association, Swift sales have fallen from 5,509 units in 2018-19 to 2,316 units in 2020-21. Sales in 2019-20 (1,828) were hindered by the Covid-19 epidemic, thus they can’t be used as a benchmark.

So, what’s next?

According to rumours, Suzuki Swift will release a new model in March 2022. As a result, the launch is almost a year away. Suzuki would also debut the 4th generation Swift in Pakistan, according to the rumours. In March 2017, the hatchback was presented in all its splendour at the Geneva Motor Show.

The new Swift sports the best-in-class lightweight body, based on the next generation platform “HEART TECH.” In 2020, it underwent a makeover with minor aesthetic adjustments. Pakistan, on the other hand, is expected to receive the pre-facelift vehicle.

Valtteri Bottas Will Join Alfa Romeo In 2022 ! Breaking News

September 6, 2021 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News

Valtteri Bottas Will Join Alfa Romeo Formula 1 Team Next Season on A Multi-Year Deal

The racing team announced on Monday that he will join Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN for the 2022 season and beyond. The Hinwil-based team has inked a multi-year agreement with the Finnish driver, who is presently with Mercedes.
Bottas, a nine-time Grand Prix winner, joins the team as it prepares to enter the new age of Formula One, with sweeping rule changes presenting a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to climb to the top of the grid.

On Wednesday, Kimi Raikkonen announced his retirement, the first in a series of announcements as the pieces of the driver market puzzle come into place.

This week, Mercedes will confirm that George Russell will join the world champion team as a substitute for Bottas.

Bottas will be reunited with team principal Fred Vasseur, with whom he previously worked at ART in F3 in 2009 and 2010, as well as in GP3 in 2011, when he won the title.

“I’m starting a new chapter in my racing career,” Bottas remarked. “I’m thrilled to be joining Alfa Romeo for 2022 and beyond, where I’ll be taking on a new challenge with an iconic brand.”

Bottas had a less successful year in 2018, with no victories, while his teammate won the world title. The distance between Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas was increasing, but the Finn demonstrated his importance as a second driver again in 2019 and 2020, placing second in the world championship.

However, Mercedes has decided to discontinue their collaboration with Bottas due to a bad start to the 2021 Formula One season and the emergence of young talent George Russell.

Kubica competed in Formula One from 2006 until 2010 before suffering catastrophic injuries to his right hand and arm in a rallying accident, thus ending his grand prix career.

The Most Expensive Car Registration in Punjab Has Been Completed! Total: 53 Lakhs

September 3, 2021 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News

The Punjab Excise and Taxation Department has recently completed the province’s most costly automobile registration. The authorities, according to sources, has registered a Mercedes AMG G63 for Rs53 lacs.

The Mercedes G63 AMG is finished in Diamond White and has a 4,000cc engine.

According to estimates, the automobile costs Rs13 crore and 19 lakhs, making it the most costly registered car in Punjab. The car’s assigned number is AEG-063. Furthermore, the automobile is on bank lease and registered in the name of First Habib Modaraba.

Previous Record Holder

The Lamborghini Huracan Spyder was once the most expensive automobile registered in Punjab. The vehicle was valued at Rs11 crore. Meanwhile, the registration fee was more than Rs4.5 million.

Arjumand, the owner of a Lamborghini Huracan Spyder (sports variation), paid Rs4.532 million for the vehicle’s registration, which had previously been refused because the department’s system could only register automobiles costing less than Rs100 million.

The government then updated its mechanism for registering such high-value automobiles.

The provincial department excused itself from registering the Lamborghini because the registration deadline was Rs10-crore. The officials informed the reporters, “The department couldn’t register any automobile beyond this price limit.”
The department, on the other hand, changed its regulations, updated its software, and then registered the automobile.
The Lamborghini owner informed the media that he was still unable to register the car. He told the reporters, “I’ve been coming to the excise office for 10 days, but I’m shocked there is no law in Punjab to register such automobiles.”
The most expensive automobile registered in Punjab before Lamborghini was a Mercedes GT Series.

KIMI RAIKKONEN To Retire From F1 At the End of the 2021 F1 Season

September 2, 2021 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News

Kimi Räikkönen, a former world champion, has announced that he would retire from Formula One at the end of the season. The 41-year-old, who won his lone drivers’ championship with Ferrari in 2007, has spent the last three years with Alfa Romeo and will retire from the sport after the calendar’s last race in Abu Dhabi in December.

Räikkönen debuted in Formula One in 2001 and was a title contender within two years, finishing second to Michael Schumacher until Fernando Alonso pipped him to the crown in 2005. In the 2007 season, the Espoo-born driver finally had his crowning moment, defeating his previous team McLaren and its drivers Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton to win the world championship.

  • The 2007 World Champion retains the record for the most Formula One starts.
  • Finn’s 20-year career comes to a close with three seasons at Alfa Romeo.

He broke the record for most Formula One starts at the 2020 Eifel Grand Prix. Räikkönen joined Sauber-Petronas as a regular driver in 2001, having previously raced in only 23 car races.

Formula One may be coming to a close for me, but there is still so much more in life that I want to do. After all of this, I’ll see you around! Regards, Kimi.”

10 fascinating facts about Kimi Raikkonen

“Truly the end of an era for our sport,” Alfa Romeo stated on Twitter. Thank you for everything; Formula One will be a different place without you. Kimi, kiitos.”

Al-Haj Proton Shares Exciting News About Car Deliveries

Al-Haj Proton Shares Exciting News About Car Deliveries

August 31, 2021 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News

Following a decrease in the COVID-19 infection rate in Malaysia, Proton’s production and sales activities have been restarted. As a result of this event, Al-Haj Proton has stated on its social media account that it is working hard to guarantee that automobiles are delivered to clients as soon as possible.

According to the official notification, the company’s restart of operations would allow it to not only assure ease in the importation of CBUs, but also to delve into local assembly of its cars.
The business has indicated on many occasions that their assembly facility in Pakistan is nearing completion, however CKD activities were halted due to challenges in international shipment during the current Coronavirus outbreak in Central and South Asia.
Now appears to be the ideal moment for Al-Haj Proton to focus on establishing a significant market presence, since the business is going to face stiff competition from BAIC, which has recently entered the Pakistani automobile market.

The Company share the information of their locally production car but did not declare which Model will come first and which booking will starts first people are desperately waiting to see the BAIC Cars on the road and to test drive their cars on the Road.

On August 27, Sazgar Engineering Works Limited (SEWL) submitted an official notification to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) indicating that “commercial manufacturing of the BAIC cars would begin with effect from September 1, 2021, following a successful conclusion of the trial operation.”

The video, on the other hand, implies that the business has already started producing its automobiles.

For fans, vehicle purchasers, and experts, SEWL’s silence on BAIC’s formal debut in Pakistan had been cause for alarm, but BAIC may have chosen a wise approach to the local auto industry’s persisting issues.

Several new manufacturers, including MG JW, Al-Haj Proton, Prince DFSK, and Master Changan Motors, have been chastised by automobile customers owing to repeated delays in vehicle delivery, which is a problem that the automakers are attempting to resolve.

The majority of the delays have been caused by obstacles in the overseas shipment of Completely Built-Up (CBU) units that these manufacturers have advertised for Pakistan.
BAIC has clearly made a deliberate choice by starting manufacturing of the cars before the official launch, which will undoubtedly allow it to have a big market effect by keeping up with increasing demand better than its competitors.

Changan Pakistan has hiked the price of their cars by Rs120,000.

August 26, 2021 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News

Changan Pakistan has hiked rates throughout its whole portfolio by Rs120,000, just a month after lowering prices. The company cited rising freight and delivery costs as the reason for the rise.

After announcing the Alsvin sedan’s debut price in January, the Chinese automaker raised the price of its two automatic models by up to Rs101,000 barely two months later in March.

Changan was one of the last automakers to lower automobile prices in July, following the government’s announcement of different incentives. The new policies were designed to relieve the load on the general public, stimulate vehicle sales, and encourage local businesses. Reduced sales tax and extra customs charge were among the numerous incentives given.

The firm told its authorised dealerships on Tuesday that all of its vehicles will be sold at reduced rates, according to a circular published on Tuesday. The Covid-19 has resulted in increased freight charges and total shipment costs, according to the report.

The circular continued, “The firm has no alternative but to pass on part of the increased costs to the product price,” and asked dealers to explain the situation to customers.

According to the notice, all Alsvin versions have witnessed a price increase of Rs120,000. Alsvin 1.3 M/T is now available at a lower price of Rs2,269,000, down from Rs2,149,000. Similarly, the price of the Alsvin 1.3 DCT has increased to Rs2,519,000 from Rs2,399,000 previously. Alsvin Lumiere 1.5 DCT is now priced at Rs2,709,000, up from Rs2,589,000 before. Karvaan and Karvaan plus would now cost Rs1,519,000 and Rs1,659,000, respectively, after a Rs120,000 price increase.
Similarly, the Changan M9’s price has increased from Rs1.234,000 to Rs1,354,000.

Ateeq Ur Rehman, an economic and financial analyst, has claimed that freight rates by road, air, and sea are becoming more expensive with each passing day, emphasizing that competition is raising the cost of doing business for both importers and exporters.
