Argentina Continues Unbeaten Streak In World Cup Qualifiers

Argentina’s Successful Run Continues

Argentina maintained their perfect record against Paraguay in the South American World Cup qualification for the 2026 North American World Cup.

Over 80,000 people watched the game, which was held at the Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires.

Argentina maintained their advantage despite Lionel Messi’s late introduction in the second half, owing to a single goal scored by defender Nicolás Otamendi in the third minute.

Argentina now leads the standings with nine points after claiming its third straight victory in the qualification.

Otamendi’s opening goal gave the Argentinian squad the victory despite Lionel Messi beginning on the substitute’s bench.

Messi’s introduction in the second half only increased the excitement of the contest as he twice struck the goal post.

On the other hand, Paraguay, who is being coached for the first time by Argentine Daniel Garnero, has only been able to earn one point from three games. The squad’s difficulties were made clear in the game against Argentina, where the Paraguayan team was unable to tie the score.

Lanning hasn’t said a single thing in the past six days that might be misconstrued or used as fodder by Colorado, which is precisely what the Buffaloes’ prior three opponents couldn’t do.

Most amazingly, he carried out all of this while being aware that his squad was the best. Instead, Lanning pumped himself up for a big Super Saiyan transformation on Saturday. He also gave the media a playbook to use against Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders, in addition to leading the Ducks to a 42-6 victory.

To be clear, there is nothing wrong with Deion for who he is. Although I’d wager my money that there will soon be enough of those coming from other parts of the internet, this is not that sort of site. Lanning narrowly avoided caving to Sanders’ media savvy and instead found a means to advance both his own cause and Sanders’.

If seeing college coaches and players have fun, promote a strong sense of self-worth, and engage in some theatrics isn’t your thing, there are plenty of other uninteresting teams to watch.

Lanning demonstrated how interesting the Ducks are. Real-time viewing was fantastic. He was motivating his squad before the game by suggesting that Oregon plays for victories while Colorado plays for clicks.

He was already ahead by two scores when he called a fake punt to a defensive lineman close to his own goal line. While leading 35-0, he came back on ESPN for a halftime interview where he discussed the need to play better.

If Sanders had the chance to speak, you may have expected him to say something along those lines. Nothing about Deion or Colorado is monotonous, and it appears that this includes how they lose these days.

Other programmers’ coaches are aware of what is going on at Boulder. They witness Sanders transforming a college brand very immediately.

They observe Colorado’s enormous TV viewership and celebrity fan base. So coaches are aware that taking on the Buffaloes these days offers more than just the possibility to win; it also offers the chance to steal the show.

Few college coaches, if any, will be able to outwit Sanders during the workweek or even on a pregame show. He simply does this way too well and for far too long. But once the game begins, none of it remains relevant.

The Buffaloes will still play a significant role this season despite Saturday’s defeat. Even with rated opponents like USC, UCLA, Utah, Oregon State, and Washington State left on the Buffaloes’ schedule, they will continue to be an attraction each and every week.

The plan is straightforward: Remain silent until your team’s play gets the opportunity to speak first. This will prevent those programmers from falling victim to Deion’s magnetism the way Lanning did.

Ronaldo’s Club Will Be Taken Over By A Saudi Wealth Fund

As the government revives a proposal to privatise a number of state-owned sports organizations, the sovereign wealth fund of Saudi Arabia will assume ownership of four of the biggest football teams in the country, including Al-Nassr, where Cristiano Ronaldo now plays.

Following a report by Saudi Arabia’s state news agency SPA that the country will begin privatizing a number of sports clubs in the fourth quarter, the sports ministry said on Twitter on Monday that the Public Investment Fund (PIF) will control 75% of al-Ittihad, Al-Ahli, Al-Nassr, and Al-Hilal.

With the exception of Al-Ahli, who plays in the Saudi First Division, all are in the top-flight Saudi Professional League. PIF has already taken control of a number of businesses before partially privatizing them.

One of the cornerstones of the government’s Vision 2030 economic diversification strategy, which is focused on PIF and strives to establish new businesses and generate employment, is sports.

The Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s privatization proposal, which is primarily aimed at football clubs, permits businesses and development organizations to invest in and assume control of clubs, according to SPA earlier on Monday.

By 2030, the Saudi Professional League’s income is expected to climb from 450 million Saudi Riyals to 1.8 billion Riyals ($480 million). Over the same time period, it anticipates that its market value will increase from 3 billion riyals to over 8 billion.

Al-Suqoor, a Second Division football team, will become a corporation and be controlled by NEOM, the organisation driving the kingdom’s plan to construct a futuristic metropolis in the desert, according to the sports ministry.

Al-Qadsiah of the Saudi First Division will be owned by the Saudi oil firm Aramco, Alula FC of the Third Division by the Royal Commission for Al-Ula, and al-Diraiyah FC of the First Division by the Diriyah Gate Development Authority.

According to reports, Saudi Arabia recruited the local private investment bank Jadwa Investment in February 2017 to provide advice on the privatization of up to five football clubs.

However, the country’s football federation’s then-president stated in early 2019: “I don’t know whether it will be 2020 or 2022 until the plan is ready.” The monarchy has been investing much in improving its football position in the meanwhile. In October 2021, Newcastle United of the Premier League was purchased by a group led by PIF.

Rashford & Man Utd Achieved Their Goals In The Second Match Against Betis

Erik Ten Hag will be happy that there isn’t much to say following the second game of their Europa League round of 16 matchup with Real Betis.
Yes, it’s not exactly excellent news for us, but Ten Hag is a self-centered spawn, so he probably won’t care at all. Really, what the audacity.

But everything went as expected. A 1-0 victory was necessary given the number of fixtures United has already completed and the additional work that lies ahead of them. As usual, Marcus Rashford scored a beautiful goal, and Casemiro escaped receiving a second consecutive red card or even the yellow that would have disqualified him from the first leg of the quarterfinal.

Due to the red card against Southampton, Ten Hag was somewhat forced to choose Casemiro and put him on a precipice for 90 minutes. He completed the task.

To be completely honest to Betis, the team has contributed more to the match than the 5-1 final tally would indicate. They start off strong in the first 15 to 20 minutes as they had to do, and if they had scored sooner, tonight might have been more tense. However, neither they nor it did.

Betis made for strong resistance. Not good enough to genuinely extend United, who don’t need any more stretching than is required at this time, but good enough to make the game enjoyable and entertaining.

This was the kind of tie that seriously brings into question the conventional wisdom that having home field advantage for the second match. Playing at home is unquestionably advantageous if your side is clearly better, so long as you handle business the way United did at Old Trafford last week.

Contrast this with Arsenal’s matchup with Sporting; while they should still be alright, they were unable to end the series in Lisbon as they might have done had the first game been played in London.

Even though the goal wasn’t especially essential tonight, it did guarantee nothing untoward could occur, and when someone is performing as well as Rashford has this season, you just want it to keep going. It was clear that he was confident in how he took the goal, and it’s one that he never would have scored 12 or 18 months ago.

Given that he had recently dropped a few simpler opportunities, he very well may not have even tried. We keep saying it, but witnessing him perform like this is just so much fun for so many different reasons.

Harry Maguire honored his third England call-up with an unusual 90-minute performance, while Facundo Pellistri made his first senior start and handled the setback of receiving a harsh yellow card admirably. Additionally, Bruno Fernandes had an opportunity to enjoy an uncommon 20 minutes of rest during a demanding season.

Overall, it was a modestly successful evening for United, and at this point in the season, those kinds of performances can have a much bigger effect than they might seem. The treble may not have happened, but it was never really a possibility. For United, this season has already been very good and has the potential to be exceptional.

In the matchup between the two most successful teams in English football, new records were not the only ones that were broken.

The club’s biggest defeat since 1931, when it lost 7-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers in a game in the second division, occurred on Sunday when Manchester United lost to Liverpool in the English Premier League.

In response, Liverpool won the game by their largest margin ever.

Mohamed Salah scored twice and now has 129 goals overall for the Merseyside club in the Premier League.

Messi won the Golden Ball, given to the competition’s best player, only moments before collecting the World Cup title for the first time following Argentina’s thrilling penalty shootout victory over France.

He kissed the World Cup trophy on the podium while holding his own prize.

2014 saw Messi win the Golden Ball in Brazil, where Argentina lost the championship match to Germany by a score of 1-0 after extra time.

Mbappe won the Golden Boot after his hat-trick in the championship match gave him eight goals, one more than PSG teammate Messi, who had two goals on the day.

Martinez, the goalkeeper for Argentina, won the Golden Glove award for best goalkeeper after turning aside Kingsley Coman’s penalty during the shootout.

He also pulled off an outstanding stop late in extra time to keep Randal Kolo Muani from scoring a goal that would have given France its first lead.

The Aston Villa goalkeeper made two saves in the penalty shootout to help Argentina defeat the Netherlands in the quarterfinals.

In Qatar, Enzo Fernandez took up the Best Young Player honor, making him yet another Argentinian champion.
