The demand for the Suzuki Alto in Pakistan is unrivalled, according to official sales figures provided by the Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC).

PSMC is reportedly delaying Alto deliveries to dealerships owing to broken gasoline lines, according to recent market reports. A countrywide recall has also been ordered for recently-built units that have already been sold to customers.

The Chip Shortage in the Automobile Industry is Nearing an End – Morgan Stanley

November 19, 2021 / By Zunair Tahir / News Pakistan

The Global automotive industry has been ravaged by the semiconductor microprocessor crisis, causing several carmakers throughout the world to hack their production statistics and implement cost-cutting measures. Several analysts have predicted that the situation would continue to deepen over the following two quarters.

In contrast to these reports, Morgan Stanley (MS) recently said that the global car industry’s microprocessor shortfall is nearly gone.

Countries in Southeast and Central Asia, such as China, Taiwan, Malaysia, South Korea, and Japan, as well as the Netherlands and the United States, are among the world’s top microchip producers.

According to recent reports from MS, Malaysia has resumed full-scale semiconductor production, and the rest of Asia’s manufacturers will soon follow suit.

Along with the growth in Malaysian manufacturing in October, vehicle production and cloud data center server shipments are expected to improve. These components are projected to boost automobile manufacturers’ production and sales statistics in the near future.

MS also stated that the Japanese chip manufacturing lines will stabilize by December, allowing automakers to fill gaps more quickly.

However, automobile costs are unlikely to fall in the future since chipmakers are predicted to raise prices for their products because chips are still a scarce commodity in a market still recovering from the pandemic’s effects.

Is Faw v2 Discontinued !! In Pakistan

September 21, 2021 / By Zunair Tahir / News Pakistan

Dealers claim that the FAW V2 has been discontinued in Pakistan.

While the firm has not publicly stated that the model would be phased out, its approved dealerships in the country have told Business Recorder that they are no longer accepting new bookings for the FAW V2 according to company directives.

The move, according to a dealer, was motivated by a number of factors, including low sales data.

Last year, sales of the 1,300cc car fell, and the launch of Proton further reduced revenue from the FAW V2 portfolio.

The Al-Haj Automotive Group launched the FAW V2 in Pakistan in 2014 as a less expensive alternative to the Suzuki Swift. The hatchback had a 1300cc engine that produced 90 horsepower and 120 Nm of torque and was connected to a 5-speed manual transmission at the time.

Company not accepting new bookings

The firm began producing it domestically within three years. However, you can no longer reserve a car. It has been reported on the market that it has been discontinued.

“Its sales decreased considerably,” the firm says, avoiding disclosing that the V2 has been withdrawn. However, the major cause is that component manufacture in China has ceased. It has also been phased out in South Africa, where right-hand drive automobiles are used in the same way as in Pakistan.”

Last year, however, the FAW V2’s price increased multiple times to Rs. 1.61 million, making the car no longer a cheap choice for customers. However, it should be noted that the competition was still more costly, since other Pakistani automakers increased their prices.

Despite the fact that the V2 was nothing out of the usual and had its own set of problems, the firm did pay attention to customer complaints and did its best to address them, such as recognized gear difficulties and cabin wind noise.

Several new manufacturers, including MG JW, Al-Haj Proton, Prince DFSK, and Master Changan Motors, have been chastised by automobile customers owing to repeated delays in vehicle delivery, which is a problem that the automakers are attempting to resolve.

The majority of the delays have been caused by obstacles in the overseas shipment of Completely Built-Up (CBU) units that these manufacturers have advertised for Pakistan.
BAIC has clearly made a deliberate choice by starting manufacturing of the cars before the official launch, which will undoubtedly allow it to have a big market effect by keeping up with increasing demand better than its competitors.

Changan Pakistan has hiked the price of their cars by Rs120,000.

August 26, 2021 / By Zunair Tahir / News Pakistan

Changan Pakistan has hiked rates throughout its whole portfolio by Rs120,000, just a month after lowering prices. The company cited rising freight and delivery costs as the reason for the rise.

After announcing the Alsvin sedan’s debut price in January, the Chinese automaker raised the price of its two automatic models by up to Rs101,000 barely two months later in March. Changan was one of the last automakers to lower automobile prices in July, following the government’s announcement of different incentives. The new policies were designed to relieve the load on the general public, stimulate vehicle sales, and encourage local businesses. Reduced sales tax and extra customs charge were among the numerous incentives given.

The firm told its authorised dealerships on Tuesday that all of its vehicles will be sold at reduced rates, according to a circular published on Tuesday. The Covid-19 has resulted in increased freight charges and total shipment costs, according to the report.

The circular continued, “The firm has no alternative but to pass on part of the increased costs to the product price,” and asked dealers to explain the situation to customers.

According to the notice, all Alsvin versions have witnessed a price increase of Rs120,000. Alsvin 1.3 M/T is now available at a lower price of Rs2,269,000, down from Rs2,149,000. Similarly, the price of the Alsvin 1.3 DCT has increased to Rs2,519,000 from Rs2,399,000 previously. Alsvin Lumiere 1.5 DCT is now priced at Rs2,709,000, up from Rs2,589,000 before. Karvaan and Karvaan plus would now cost Rs1,519,000 and Rs1,659,000, respectively, after a Rs120,000 price increase.
Similarly, the Changan M9’s price has increased from Rs1.234,000 to Rs1,354,000.

Ateeq Ur Rehman, an economic and financial analyst, has claimed that freight rates by road, air, and sea are becoming more expensive with each passing day, emphasizing that competition is raising the cost of doing business for both importers and exporters.

The Long Wait Is Over! Pakistan’s Auto Policy for the Years 2021-2026 Is Here

July 7, 2021 / By Zunair Tahir / News Pakistan

Auto Policy has finally been revealed by the federal government. Khusro Bakhtiar, the Federal Minister for Industries and Production, spoke during a news conference on the new strategy.

We’ve been hearing a lot of stories and speculations concerning automobile price increases in Pakistan. Despite repeated warnings, the situation for automobile users in the country remained uncertain. The wait, however, is now over. Pakistan’s new Auto Policy 2021-2026 has been announced by the government. According to the information given, there is undoubtedly good news for automobile aficionados. Furthermore, the new Auto Policy is good news for automobile buyers in the lower middle and middle classes. Let’s go straight into the specifics!

Impact On Cars

Vehicle Prices Have Dropped

The long-awaited decision has finally arrived. Vehicle costs have been decreased as a result of the new Auto Policy. Vehicles with engines up to 850cc would have their costs reduced to as low as PKR 105,000 under the new policy. When it comes to 1000cc vehicles, costs might drop as low as PKR 146,000. Furthermore, if we look at the Toyota Yaris and Honda City in particular, the costs will drop by up to PKR 125,000.

Here is the Auto Policy for the Years 2021-2026.

  • In the following 1-2 days, new car prices will be applied.
  • To put an end to the “ON Money” mentality, the buyer must register the vehicle in his or her own name.
  • 3,75,000 new employment will be created in the auto industry.
  • The auto sector has a production capacity of 4,15,000 vehicles per year. Pakistan manufactured 1,64,000 cars last year.
  • Cars with engines up to 850cc will have their prices reduced by up to Rs. 105,000.
  • 1000cc rates would be reduced by up to Rs140,000.
  • For one year, the import tariff on electric vehicles (EVs) would be cut from 25% to 10%.
  • If the automobile is delayed for more than 60 days (2 months), the firm will be charged KIBOR + 3%.
  • The automobile industry is taxed to the tune of Rs350 billion.
  • The government is working on a policy for auto development and export. Not only will the policy be focused on the domestic market.

The Good News is that after 850cc, 1000cc cars are becoming more affordable as well.

The Good News is that after 850cc, 1000cc cars are becoming more affordable as well.

June 27, 2021 / By Zunair Tahir / News Pakistan

The federal government made vehicles with engines up to 850cc cheaper earlier this month by eliminating the Federal Excise Duty (FED) and lowering the Sales Tax to 12.5 percent from 17 percent. Everyone was ecstatic when they heard the news. Despite this, many people preferred to hear the phrase 1000cc instead than 850cc.

So, what’s this? The government has complied with our request. Shaukat Tarin, the Finance Minister, has announced the continuation of tax exemption for automobiles up to 1000cc, making all domestically built 1000cc cars cheaper.

What Will be the impact these Cars are Getting Cheaper

Because the middle class can only afford automobiles up to 1000cc, this tax relief will undoubtedly have a big influence on the local automotive market. The government has lowered automobile costs in a budget for the first time in Pakistan’s history.

Consumer purchasing power will rise as a result of the effort, as will automobile sales in the country. The government, on the other hand, has not proposed any tax relief for imported automobiles, indicating that it is focused on the domestic auto sector and encouraging people to buy local vehicles.

What are your thoughts on this news? On a scale of one to ten, how pleased are you with this big tax cut? Let us know what you think in the comments area.

When Will Automobiles Become More Affordable to Consumers?

Okay, so the government has enacted the Fiscal Budget 2021-22, which includes lower taxes on automobiles with engines under 1000cc. But the real question is when prices will start to fall. And the response is July 1st, 2021.

The budget has been considered and approved by the government in the National Assembly. It will be deployed in the beginning of next month. From July 1st onwards, the revised pricing will be in effect.

In the meanwhile, customers who get automobiles this month will be charged the existing price. If the invoice for the car has been issued, the buyer must pay the current price. There’s no getting around it.
