In the aftermath of the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard trial, which inspired a flood of sympathy for the former Pirates of the Caribbean actor, a preposterous story recently circulated online, riding the tide of starry-eyed love.

According to the allegation, Depp will be paid at least $301 million to reprise his most famous role as Captain Jack Sparrow. The report also said that a Disney Plus series that would examine Jack Sparrow’s formative years may be in the works (despite Depp currently being 59 years old).

The allegation is just untrue, as much fun as it could be to witness an ageing Depp portray the younger version of a part that he has been phoning in for at least the previous two movies.

Pirates of the Caribbean’s full budget of $301 million is an absurd sum. At World’s End is not a low-budget movie (indeed, Davy Jones still holds up as one of the most convincing CGI creations ever put to screen).

Fans, though, are still hopeful to see him. One significant illustration of this is a petition on Change.org to have Depp return as Jack Sparrow, which has amassed over 500,000 signatures and is almost at one million (via Change).

After a jury determined that Amber Heard’s 2018 piece in the Washington Post was defamatory, Johnny Depp has won his multimillion-dollar US case against her.

The actor was granted compensatory damages of ten million dollars (£8 million) and punitive damages of five million dollars (£4 million).

The jury also decided in favor of Heard, who claimed Depp’s lawyer defamed her by calling her assault accusations a fake.

Out of the $100 million she sought in her countersuit against the actor, Heard will earn $2 million.

“I stood up against sexual assault — and suffered our culture’s fury,” Depp wrote in an article headlined “I spoke up against sexual violence — and faced our culture’s anger.” “This needs to change.”

Although the piece does not identify Depp, his attorneys claim it wrongly suggests that he physically and sexually mistreated Heard throughout their relationship.

As the decision was read in court, Heard was visibly upset, while Depp was absent. The actress expressed her displeasure with the decision, calling it “heartbreaking.” “I can’t express how disappointed I am today. “I’m devastated that the pile of evidence was insufficient to overcome my ex-enormous husband’s power, influence, and sway,” she said in a statement.

“I’m much more dissatisfied with the implications of this decision for other women.”

“It’s a setback,” says the narrator. It turns the clock back to a time when a woman who spoke up and spoke out might be publicly humiliated and disgraced.

“It undermines the notion that women’s violence should be treated seriously.”

Depp, on the other hand, claimed the jury handed him “his life back” and that he “feels at peace” and “really humbled.”

“My life, the lives of my children, the lives of those closest to me, and also the lives of the individuals who have supported and believed in me for many, many years irrevocably altered six years ago,” he said in a statement. Everything happened in the blink of an eye.

“False, extremely severe, and criminal claims were made against me in the media, resulting in a never-ending flood of nasty information, despite the fact that no charges were ever filed against me.” It has already travelled across the world twice and had a seismic influence on my life and career in an instant.

Heard’s allegations of abuse were refuted by the Pirates of the Caribbean actor.
In closing arguments, lawyers on both sides asked jurors to consider other victims of domestic abuse.
Depp was recently seen performing with Jeff Beck at the Royal Albert Hall in London.
At the concert, he was joined by his ex-girlfriend Kate Moss, who testified in favor of her former partner during the slander trial.
