PM Shehbaz Pledges Support For Qatar In Response To FIFA Misinformation

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that Pakistan supports Qatar’s Emir and people as they deal with misinformation while holding the FIFA World Cup.

He wrote in a tweet, “Unfortunate that Qatar is being exposed to a bombardment of misinformation as host of the FIFA World Cup.

Premier: Rather than criticizing the Arab nation for excellent preparations for the huge event,

Shehbaz Sharif argued that Qatar should be praised for making excellent preparations for the major event and for promoting world peace and development.

It is important to understand that the PM was making reference to the Western boycotts and cries against Qatar accusing the oil-rich country of repressing human rights.

Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, the country’s ruler, claimed last month that Qatar had been subjected to an “unprecedented campaign” of criticism regarding its World Cup preparations and referred to the criticism as “defamation.”

The emir had previously stated in a speech, “Since we were awarded the privilege of hosting the World Cup, Qatar has been subjected to an unprecedented campaign that no host country has faced.

Afridi Tells Pakistan’s Captain Babar To Drop Down The Lineup

Afridi Tells Pakistan’s Captain Babar To Drop Down The Lineup

November 7, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Sport News

For Wednesday’s Twenty20 World Cup semifinal match against New Zealand, former captain Shahid Afridi advised Pakistan to bench skipper Babar Azam and start Mohammad Haris at the top of the order.
Before the Netherlands stunned South Africa on Sunday, Pakistan, the 2009 winners, appeared to be out of the competition.

The top two T20 batsmen going into the event were Mohammad Rizwan and Babar, however neither of them has yet to score a fifty in the competition.

In contrast to Babar, Pakistan’s top batter, who has a strike rate of 61.90, Rizwan has scored at a run-per-ball rate.

In the first semi-final in Sydney, both will need to step up their game against the runners-up from the previous year, New Zealand. Against Thursday in Adelaide, India takes on England in the second semifinal.

Former all-rounder Afridi said on Samaa TV that Babar Azam should pay attention to advice.

Mohammad Haris must be used with fielding limitations. Babar Azam ought to fall to third.

Iftikhar Ahmed and Shan Masood, the middle order hitters for Pakistan, should be as aggressive and play with more intent, according to Afridi.

“You can tell by looking at Iftikhar or Shan Masood that they are aiming to strike the ball from their body language. That sort of intent and that style of cricket are what we need.

If you can’t complete the game after using up so many deliveries, what good is scoring a run-a-ball 30 or 35? Added the 42-year-old.

Perth’s Crown Towers said they are looking into it to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

The Crown Towers Perth hotel in Australia, where the Indian cricket team was staying for their T20 World Cup matches, released a statement after one of its staff members breached Virat Kohli’s privacy and recorded him in his hotel room.

The hotel expressed regret and removed the offenders from the property, vowing to prevent a similar incident from happening again.

Kohli expressed his displeasure at the breach of his privacy in a video dubbed “King Kohli’s Hotel Room” that was posted on his Instagram on Monday. According to a copy of the statement made available to The Indian Express, the hotel apologized the same day.

It said, “We sincerely apologies to the offended visitor and will keep taking the appropriate efforts to ensure this stays an isolated incidence. “Crown took swift action to address the problem. The parties involved were expelled from the Crown account and stepped down, and the original video was quickly taken down from social media.

The hotel management stated that an inquiry is being performed with the outside contractor and that they would take whatever further measures are required to guarantee that a similar situation does not occur again. In order to express our regrets, we are also engaging with the Indian Cricket Team and the International Cricket Council. We will keep collaborating with them as the inquiry moves forward, they said.

In a statement on the subject, the ICC expressed its “extreme disappointment” at Kohli’s “gross infringement of privacy.” To make sure that this is an isolated incident and that player privacy is always protected, we continue to engage with event hotels and security suppliers.

The trespassers panned the camera over Kohli’s shoes and other possessions in the room in the footage. Even while Kohli enjoys when fans are thrilled and anxious to see him, he did not enjoy this level of devotion, claiming he was worried about his privacy at the time.

He said, “Where can I truly expect any personal space at all if I can’t have privacy in my own hotel room?”

Indian Cricketers Grumble About Their Sandwiches At World Cup Being Served Cold

Indian Cricketers Grumble About Their Sandwiches At World Cup Being Served Cold

October 31, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Sport News

Indian cricket team members have voiced their displeasure about the Twenty20 World Cup’s food quality, saying that they are speaking out for the sake of all nations.

The team trained at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Tuesday in preparation for their Super 12 match against the Netherlands, and they weren’t impressed with the cold sandwiches, bananas, and falafel that were provided to them afterward.

The teams and support personnel will be fed during the competition by local vendors.

Some team members made the decision to purchase food online and will keep doing so unless the food quality improves.

According to an unidentified source from the Indian team who spoke to AFP, “the team alerted the ground authorities about the food we had.”

Will receiving a hamburger after a three-hour exercise make you happy?

I am aware that all of the teams are receiving the same information, but they are not speaking up since the majority of them are unable to do so.

The insider stated, “We didn’t practice today and are hoping for better results in our next net session; if not, the players will place online orders like we did on Tuesday.”

India is a cricketing giant, and the team is said to have demanded improved performances at the upcoming practise session or else they could take the matter up with the sport’s governing authorities.

The World Food Program estimates that 25% of the world’s undernourished population reside in India.

A sandwich, falafel, and some fruit would no doubt make many of the 21% of people who live on less than $1.90 (USD) a day happy.

One of the most paid athletes in the world, Virat Kohli makes more than $20 million a year from sponsorships alone thanks to his stardom.

A thrilling last-ball triumph over Australia was achieved by India earlier this week at the MCG in front of 90,000 spectators thanks to Kohli’s batsman ship.

His undefeated 82 enabled India smash Pakistan’s 8-159 and secure an amazing victory from a 4-31 position.

“I have no clue how that happened, and I lack words.” I simply persisted in my belief and stayed put to the very end. I’m honestly at a loss for words,” Kohli remarked following the game.

Pakistan’s T20 World Cup Challenge Depends On Shaheen’s Fitness

Pakistan’s T20 World Cup Challenge Depends On Shaheen’s Fitness

October 12, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Sport News

At the Twenty20 World Cup in Australia, Pakistan, a former champion, will rely on pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi to be at his destructive best.

After overcoming a right knee injury sustained in the first Test against Sri Lanka in July, the 22-year-old was permitted to join the team on Tuesday.

He missed the tri-series this week in New Zealand, the Twenty20 series against England, and the Asia Cup.

After a lengthy time of rehabilitation in London, the tall left-arm fast bowler will depart for Australia. He will play two warm-up matches in Brisbane the following week to restore his rhythm, the first of which is against England on Monday.

In order to be ready for their eye-popping first encounter against India at the expansive Melbourne Cricket Ground on October 23, which is predicted to draw 90,000 fans, Pakistan will play a last warm-up match against Afghanistan on the following Wednesday.

In the T20 World Cup in Dubai last year, Shaheen demolished India’s top order by removing Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli, finishing with scores of 3-31 as Pakistan cruised to a 10-wicket triumph.

According to captain Babar Azam, “He has healed nicely, and we are certain that he will be at his best come the India game.”

“Shaheen leads our strong fast bowling assault for us.”

Fakhar Zaman, a top-order batsman who made 55 runs unbeaten against Australia in last year’s semi-final, is also making progress after suffering a knee injury.

The nation’s cricket body said on Tuesday that Zaman, one of the three travelling reserves for the T20 World Cup, will accompany Shaheen to Brisbane to finish his recovery.

Since the World Cup last year, Pakistan has defeated Bangladesh and the West Indies in 3-0 T20 series, suffered a lone T20 loss to Australia in Lahore, and advanced to the Asia Cup final in the United Arab Emirates before falling to Sri Lanka.

At home, England won the series 4-3. Prior to Tuesday’s tri-series loss to the Black Caps, Pakistan had won the first two games against Bangladesh and New Zealand.

Azam remarked, “Our squad has done well, therefore I am hopeful about our prospects in the World Cup.” His team is in Group 2, where the top two teams go to the semifinals, along with India, Bangladesh, South Africa, and two qualifiers.

With the rapidly developing Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, and Mohammad Hasnain complementing Shaheen, Pakistan has a strong and diverse bowling assault.

Leg-spinner Shadab Khan, left-armer Mohammad Nawaz, off-spinner Iftikhar Ahmed, and leg-spinner Usman Qadir make up the spin quartet.

Despite having Azam and Mohammad Rizwan at the top of the order, Pakistan’s middle order batting has remained their weak point.

When they scored 203 to defeat England in Karachi last month, the duo established a global record for the biggest chase without losing a wicket thanks to Azam’s unbeaten 110 and Rizwan’s 88-run opening partnership—their second double-century opening stand in T20s.

However, if the combination falters, the team’s batting insufficiency may be made obvious.

Azam acknowledges, “Aside from the positives, we had some worries and I think our middle-order has to step up,” citing the failure to consistently produce results by Iftikhar, Shan Masood, Khushdil Shah, Haider Ali, and Asif Ali despite their being given opportunities.

We sent out several batting and bowling combinations to measure our bench strength. We are also improving our fielding.

Axar Patel finished with the most wickets in the series against Australia, and his performances of 2/13 and 3/33 in the last two games have helped him move up to No. 18 in the rankings.

After underwhelming performances in the series between India and Australia, pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar (down to No. 10) and spinner Adam Zampa (down to No. 6) have both dropped one spot apiece.

Mohammad Nabi, the captain of Afghanistan, has supplanted Shakib Al Hasan as the top all-rounder in the rankings. After his outstanding performances in the series against Australia, Hardik Pandya has also climbed into the top four.

In the past two T20Is against Australia, Pandya recorded scores of nine and 25* while also contributing with a few useful overs. Wanindu Hasaranga, another all-around player from Sri Lanka, and he are currently tied for fourth place.

Pakistan Win By 3 Runs In Dramatic Finish At Karachi

Pakistan Win By 3 Runs In Dramatic Finish At Karachi

September 26, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Sport News

In a thrilling match on Sunday in Karachi, Pakistan defeated England by three runs. After losing their top three, England’s 168-point chase never really got underway. However, Haris Rauf took two wickets in as many balls to leave Adil Rashid and Reece Topley needing four runs from the last over after Liam Dawson hit 24 from an over to push his team close to victory. They were unable to complete the task, though, and the hosts tied the series at 2-2.

The series’ next game will be played in Lahore with the score currently tied at 2-2 between the two sides (September 28, 30 and October 2).

At the National Stadium in Karachi on Sunday, England captain Moeen Ali called the toss and chose to put Pakistan in to bat.

Pakistan was given the opportunity to bat first but was only given a goal of 167 runs, which by all accounts should have been simple for an English team to reach after setting a massive 222-run total in the previous game.

Haris Rauf (3-32) Mohammad Hasnain (2-40) and Mohammad Wasim (1-30) pressured the English side with their speed, while spinners Mohammad Nawaz (3-35) and Mohammad Iftikhar (0-23) limited the run rate even as the Pakistani batters struggled to find their feet.

Pakistan played in the 200th T20 game, becoming the first side to do so.

From the previous game, England made three adjustments. While Olly Stone received his opportunity to play in an international T20 match, Alex Hales and David Willey entered the lineup.

They took the place of Mark Wood, Sam Curran, and David Malan.
In order to bring Asif Ali and Naseem Shah, Pakistan left aside the unhealthy Haider Ali and Shahnawaz Dahani.

Pakistan VS England 2022, 1st T20 Starts Today

September 20, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Sport News

For a historic visit, the England cricket team has landed in Pakistan. After 17 long years, the Three Lions are returning to Pakistan for a seven-match T20I series. Babar Azam and company enter this series coming off a heartbreaking loss to Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final.

Before the 2019 T20 World Cup, Pakistan will be aiming to make apologies and resolve all of the problems within their team. In the crucial series, Mohammad Rizwan’s strike rate will be scrutinized. Many commentators have criticized the 30-year-old for his dubious strategy in the Asia Cup final. Babar Azam, the captain, will try to regain his form by scoring some runs.

Full Schedule:

Karachi leg of the series

  • 1st T20I – September 20
  • 2nd T20I – September 22
  • 3rd T20I – September 23
  • 4th T20I – September 25

Lahore leg of the series

  • 5th T20I – September 28
  • 6th T20I – September 30
  • 7th T20I – October 2

Pakistani Squad:

Babar Azam (c), Shadab Khan (vc), Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Mohammad Nawaz, Shan Masood, Aamir Jamal, Abrar Ahmed, Asif Ali, Haider Ali, Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed, Khushdil Shah, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Wasim Junior, Shahnawaz Dahani, Usman Qadir

England Squad:

Jos Buttler (c & wk), Moeen Ali (vc), Alex Hales, Dawid Malan, Jordan Cox (wk), Harry Brook, Sam Curran, Liam Dawson, Chris Woakes, Ben Duckett, Richard Gleeson, Tom Helm, Will Jacks, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Olly Stone, Reece Topley, David Willey, Mark Wood, Luke Wood

England, captained by Jos Buttler, is aware that Pakistan is the favourite to win in these circumstances. It is important to note that a few of the England team’s players have had some experience playing in Pakistan thanks to the PSL. In recent years, players such as Alex Hales and Dawid Malan have competed in the Pakistan Super League.

For the Karachi leg of the series, Jos Buttler won’t be available, hence Moeen Ali will captain England. Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, Chris Jordan, and Adil Rashid are T20 experts who will be crucial to England’s prospects. Here are all the specifics of the historic T20I series between Pakistan and England before the first T20I in Karachi.

Additionally, England arrives in Pakistan with a debt of gratitude to settle and an air of regret. The ECB was effectively kept afloat during an unprecedented crisis for the sport by Pakistan’s own willingness to visit England in the summer of 2020

When Covid had struck, and tolerating the enormous restrictions of that bio-secure summer. As a result, when last year’s goodwill return visit was cancelled without a good reason, the outrage was understandable and justified.

England Cricket Team Arrives In Pakistan After 17 Years

England Cricket Team Arrives In Pakistan After 17 Years

September 16, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Sport News

The cricket team from England arrived in Karachi on Thursday as part of their first trip to Pakistan in 17 years.

England last played in Pakistan in 2005, and they were scheduled to return last year before abruptly cancelling after New Zealand also postponed a tour owing to safety concerns.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which was outraged by the action, described it as “disrespectful.”

Pakistan was compelled to host England for series in 2012 and 2015 after an assault in 2009 on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore. The UAE served as one such location.

International cricket has slowly made a comeback in Pakistan over the past five years, and earlier this year, Australia completed a successful tour for the first time in over 25 years.

The PCB expressed confidence that the England games will also go ahead without a hitch, noting that the Australia series had “demonstrated our event planning and operational expertise. “Roads between the England team accommodation and Karachi’s National stadium will be closed off and guarded by security personnel on game days. Their route will be monitored by a helicopter, and businesses that have stadium views will be required to close.

The government of Pakistan was engaged in conflict with insurgents the previous time England visited. Although the security situation has significantly improved since then, assaults have increased since since the Taliban retook control of the neighboring country of Afghanistan.

The journey takes place as Pakistan struggles to recover from devastating floods that has affected at least 33 million people and submerged roughly a third of the nation.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) stated last month that despite the humanitarian crisis, the team was “desperate” to play in Pakistan.

Rob Key, general director of men’s cricket, said: “I think ideally us going over there and playing will be a positive for what’s been a really horrific moment for the people of that nation.”

From September 20 to October 2, the 19-man England side, led by Jos Buttler, will compete against Pakistan in seven Twenty20 matches in Karachi and Lahore as preparation for the T20 World Cup in Australia that will take place the following month.

Three five-day Test matches will be played in England when they return in December.

Afghanistan Hopes To Bounce Back Against Pakistan l Asia Cup 2022 l

Afghanistan Hopes To Bounce Back Against Pakistan l Asia Cup 2022 l

September 7, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Sport News

With a victory, Pakistan will be one step closer to the title game, while Afghanistan will be eager to make their Super 4s debut.

On Wednesday, Pakistan and Afghanistan—two sides that are quite accustomed to the UAE—will face off against one another for the first time in the Asia Cup and for the third time in T20Is. Even though Pakistan has a flawless record against Afghanistan, having won both of their meetings in 2013 and 2019, the game in Sharjah will be open to anybody.

Afghanistan began the Asia Cup with two excellent victories over higher-ranked Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in the group stage, but they were defeated by Dasun Shanaka’s team in the first Super 4 game despite scoring 175 for 6. However, there were leftovers for them.

It was a tight game, to start. Overall, they’ve demonstrated that they are no longer only dependent on the wicket-taking spin combination of Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and skipper Mohammad Nabi. Fast bowlers Fazalhaq Farooqi and Naveen-ul-Haq for them have proven to be match-winners.

Najibullah Zadran, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and Ibrahim Zadran are just a few of the batsmen who have risen to the occasion. If Afghanistan is to go to the finals, they must maintain such standards.

Meanwhile, despite missing their skipper and having important players injured, Pakistan has been able to produce convincing victory. In filling in for Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan has performed admirably, scoring 192 runs in three innings. Fakhar Zaman and Khushdil Shah have also contributed, and all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz scored 42 runs off 20 balls in the last game against India after moving up to the No. 4 position.

Their greatest strength continues to be their bowling, as spinners Shadab Khan and Nawaz have combined for 13 wickets in three games. The onslaught appears to be much more effective when the young Naseem Shah is included in the scene.

Pakistan will go to the final with a win, but they will face a very determined opponent in Afghanistan, who is also vying for their first Super 4 triumph after defeating the defending champions India in a thrilling last-over match.

It’s difficult to replace a bowler like Shaheen Shah Afridi in Pakistan’s bowling lineup, but Naseem Shah, who has played in only three T20Is, has shown he can come close. His blistering pace and swing made him a star in red-ball cricket, and it turns out that the same combination also works in the shorter formats. The 19-year-old has taken five wickets in three tournament games so far, and he will be crucial in limiting Afghanistan’s improving batting. Especially now that Haris Rauf, who is seasoned, is having some difficulty.

Pitch And Circumstances:

As has been the case in two out of the three games played in Sharjah, the side batting first will be hoping to score a lot. Sri Lanka outran Afghanistan’s 175 while Pakistan defeated Hong Kong with a score of 193.

The Pakistani medical staff has given Rizwan, who suffered a knee injury on Sunday, the all-clear to play. He will continue to bat at the top of the order and stand behind the wicket.

Stats:

  • In the past, Pakistan has defeated Afghanistan in both of their T20I matches.
  • The Pakistani player with the best economy rate in this Asia Cup (with at least five overs) is Shadab Khan, who has a 5.43.
  • In T20s, Rashid Khan has five times eliminated Babar, scoring 58 runs off of 48 balls in the process.
