Did not purchase a Volkswagen Golf R 20 Years Edition last year? Not to worry, Wolfsburg has another hot hatch with 333 horsepower available.

The latest version of the popular all-wheel-drive small performance variant, appropriately dubbed the Golf R 333, features the same 2.0 TSI engine. Technically, the four-pot produces 328 horsepower (245 kW), or 333 PS. With 420 Newton-meters (309 pound-feet) of torque, the Golf R’s torque remains constant from the standard model.

A striking Lime Yellow Metallic paint contrasts with black markings indicating the Volkswagen Golf R 333’s restricted availability. An individually numbered plaque located on the passenger side of the dashboard emphasizes the car’s rarity even further.

Being at the absolute top of the Golf hierarchy, it should come as no surprise that you receive all the extras as standard, such as a 480-watt Harman Kardon sound system, adaptive cruise control (with stop & go), and matrix LED headlights.

In addition to the titanium rear silencers on the R Performance exhaust designed by Akrapovi, VW equips the car with 19-inch Estoril black alloys and semi-slick tires.

The German manufacturer also lowers the electronic highest speed barrier, allowing the Golf R 333 to accelerate from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.6 seconds to 168 mph (270 km/h). It is therefore tenths of a second faster than the standard R.

VW will start taking orders in its native Germany on June 2, and manufacturing is expected to start in September. The first customer deliveries are anticipated in October, when Volkswagen will host a customer event at its Autostadt (German for “Automobile City”) complex for all customers who choose to pick up the vehicle in Wolfsburg.

Since VW is asking €76,410 for the Golf R 333 at home in Germany, it goes without saying that it isn’t cheap. When you consider that the 2022 Golf R 20 Years Edition sold for an eye-watering €59,995 in Germany, it is frighteningly pricey.

As a last point, the United States did not receive the more powerful 20 Years Edition; rather, a 20th Anniversary Edition with the power of the standard Golf R was available last year. The Golf R Variant, which may be the only automobile anybody will ever need, is also unavailable in the US.
