100th Anniversary Models Of The Alfa Romeo Giulia And Stelvio Quadrifoglio Are Sold Out

Each Had A 100 Unit Maximum, And They Are All Sold Out

The first time the four-leaf clover insignia was used was on Ugo Sivocci’s RL at the 1923 Targa Florio. Alfa Romeo debuted the updated Giulia and Stelvio with a 100th Anniversary special edition in mid-April to commemorate the logo’s 100th anniversary. It’s too late to get one as the Italian carmaker is pleased to report that all 100 cars and 100 SUVs, which had a variety of improvements both inside and out, have been purchased.

It goes without saying that the limited-run model was based on the top-of-the-line Quadrifoglio. The automobiles had an option of three paint colours: Rosso Etna, Verde Montreal, and Nero Vulcano, and an Akrapovi exhaust was included as standard equipment. Alfa Romeo installed gold brake calipers to both vehicles, however the SUV received bigger 21-inch wheels while the sporty sedan received 19-inch wheels. The dynamic pair also featured the front grille and side mirror covers made of carbon fiber, as well as the matrix LED headlights that were included with the mid-cycle facelift.

The interiors of the 100th Anniversary versions were decorated with gold stitching and a custom insignia that indicated the car’s unique status. The inside of the vehicle has been modified with several carbon fiber details and a steering wheel covered in leather and Alcantara. The vehicles sport a 12.3-inch completely digital instrument cluster because they are based on the redesigned Giulia and Stelvio.

Alfa Romeo charged $85,160 for the sedan in the US (plus $1,595 for destination and shipping costs), or $3,200 more than the standard Giulia Quadrifoglio. The SUV sold for $92,675, which was a $4,500 premium above the original vehicle. The output remained same in the US at 505 horsepower. The 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 was tuned to 520 horsepower in China and Europe, though. The Giulia GTA/GTAm had 533 horsepower, but it’s still not the engine’s top specification.

The Giulia and Stelvio have aged elegantly despite the fact that the Giulia was introduced in 2015 and the Stelvio a year later. By 2023 standards, the Quadrifoglio vehicles’ performance is also rather respectable; the sedan needs 3.9 seconds to reach 62 mph (100 km/h), while the SUV needs just 0.1 seconds less. The Giulia’s highest speed is 191 mph (307 km/h), whereas the Stelvio’s is 176 mph (283 km/h).

Alfa Romeo, a company that is a part of the Stellantis conglomerate, has previously declared there won’t be a second generation of these two combustion engine vehicles. The idea is to switch to electric propulsion for the cars later this decade. A compact crossover that was hinted at earlier this month and will be on sale next year underneath the Tonale will be the brand’s first production vehicle to go without an ICE.

Valtteri Bottas Will Join Alfa Romeo Formula 1 Team Next Season on A Multi-Year Deal

The racing team announced on Monday that he will join Alfa Romeo Racing ORLEN for the 2022 season and beyond. The Hinwil-based team has inked a multi-year agreement with the Finnish driver, who is presently with Mercedes.
Bottas, a nine-time Grand Prix winner, joins the team as it prepares to enter the new age of Formula One, with sweeping rule changes presenting a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to climb to the top of the grid.

On Wednesday, Kimi Raikkonen announced his retirement, the first in a series of announcements as the pieces of the driver market puzzle come into place.

This week, Mercedes will confirm that George Russell will join the world champion team as a substitute for Bottas.

Bottas will be reunited with team principal Fred Vasseur, with whom he previously worked at ART in F3 in 2009 and 2010, as well as in GP3 in 2011, when he won the title.

“I’m starting a new chapter in my racing career,” Bottas remarked. “I’m thrilled to be joining Alfa Romeo for 2022 and beyond, where I’ll be taking on a new challenge with an iconic brand.”

Bottas had a less successful year in 2018, with no victories, while his teammate won the world title. The distance between Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas was increasing, but the Finn demonstrated his importance as a second driver again in 2019 and 2020, placing second in the world championship.

However, Mercedes has decided to discontinue their collaboration with Bottas due to a bad start to the 2021 Formula One season and the emergence of young talent George Russell.
