The 720S-based 765LT Spider was first offered by McLaren over two years ago, and even though the 750S is now formally available, the British sports car manufacturer is still able to provide the track-focused convertible.
Lando Norris, a driver for the Formula 1 team, is the most recent client to take possession of a long-tailed spider’s keys. One of just 765 units made, it boasts a few exclusive McLaren exclusive Operations (MSO) additions and a lot of carbon fiber.
With Yellow Highlights To Match His Helmet, The Supercar Is Finished In Carbon Blue
The 23-year-old racing driver is shown travelling to pick up his prized item in a new video posted by McLaren Automotive on YouTube. Given that Lando is British, you’re probably asking why the 765LT Spider was requested with left-hand drive specifications at this point. He just relocated to Monaco, thus he no longer resides in the UK.
His helmet is referenced by the contrasting yellow highlights on the brake calipers and body, and his race number is linked to the four stripes. The headrests have embroidered “LN” emblems so everyone knows whose car this is.
There is also a unique plaque that says the 765LT was “exclusively commissioned for Lando Norris by MSO,” but it withholds the production number.
The autographs of various persons engaged in the creation of the automobile, including McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown, complete the distinctive touches. While Carlos Sainz, another F1 driver, chose a coupe at the start of the year, Lando chose a convertible. Despite the fact that both vehicles are supercars, the 765LT has a twin-turbo V8 and the 812 Competition has a normally aspirated V12.
The seven-speed, dual-clutch automatic gearbox that powers the 4.0-liter engine’s 590 pound-feet (800 Newton-meters) of torque and 755 horsepower sends the power to the wheels. On its way to 205 mph (330 km/h), it allows the McLaren 765LT hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in only 2.8 seconds and 124 mph (200 km/h) in 7.2 seconds.
Even though McLaren now has an electric V6, eight-cylinder power won’t be going away anytime soon. It has signed a contract for a new hybrid V8 engine that will be used in next supercars and, ideally, a hypercar.
