On Monday afternoon, a mosque bomb in Peshawar’s Police Lines neighborhood injured at least 90 people, according to emergency personnel.

The Lady Reading Hospital’s (LRC) spokeswoman, Mohammad Asim, told Reuters that the hospital was still receiving injured patients, some of whom were in severe condition.

According to Asim, the area has been totally blocked off, and only ambulances are permitted access.

A part of the structure had fallen, and numerous people were reportedly under it, according to police officer Sikandar Khan.

According to the bomb location, the explosion happened at about 1:40 pm, just as Zuhr prayers were being said. He said that both army and police officials were present inside the mosque.

People were shown crowding around the mosque’s crumbled wall on television broadcasts.

It is now unknown if a bomb was intentionally placed inside the mosque or if a suicide strike occurred.

On the other side, the Red Zone access routes have been closed by the police.

Imran Khan, the chairman of the PTI, vehemently denounced the “terrorist suicide attack” in Peshawar and offered his condolences to the victims’ families in a tweet following the report of the explosion.

He continued, “It is essential that we strengthen our information collection and adequately equip our police forces to face the evolving threat of terrorism.

The previous significant event of this kind occurred in Peshawar last year, when a suicide bomber detonated himself inside a Shia mosque in the city’s Kocha Risaldar neighborhood, killing 63 people.

The PTI spokesperson was taken to Lahore by the Islamabad police and was expected to return to the federal capital on Monday (today) after his tests were completed. He was detained on Wednesday on sedition charges after allegedly threatening members of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) during a media discussion.

Before departing for Lahore, Mr. Chaudhry told reporters that authorities were violating his constitutional rights by failing to complete his medical exams. He recounted how Senator Azam Khan Swati and Shahbaz Gill, two PTI leaders, had also been subjected to physical and emotional abuse by police.

His voice would be matched at a forensic lab prior to his photogrammetry test, which will be performed in Lahore.

According to reports, photogrammetry is a science and technology that enables the recording, measurement, and interpretation of photographic images, patterns of electromagnetic radiant imagery, and other phenomena in order to obtain accurate information about real-world objects and their surroundings.

During his first physical remand, Mr. Chaudhry was previously questioned and quizzed.

He was questioned about why he made such a comment about the ECP, its employees, and Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja in particular.

After the former minister’s remand expired today, Judicial Magistrate Waqas Ahmed Raja ordered the Islamabad police to bring him before his court on Monday (today).

However, a top police officer in Islamabad reported that Fawad Chaudhry was not being subjected to the same harsh interrogations as his former coworkers Azam Swati and Shahbaz Gill.

Government Permits ‘Sky High’ Increase In Gasoline Prices

Government Permits ‘Sky High’ Increase In Gasoline Prices

January 30, 2023 / By Zunair Tahir / Pakistan News

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar explains that the price of gasoline and high-speed diesel increased by 35 rupees per litre, that the price of kerosene oil has increased to 189.83 rupees per litre, and that the price of light diesel oil has increased to 187 rupees per liter. He also notes that on the instructions of the Prime Minister, the price of gasoline remained unchanged for the previous four months.

Due to an increase in the price of oil on the worldwide market and the devaluation of the Pakistani rupee against the US dollar, the government has increased the price of gasoline and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs 35/liter each.

PRODUCTNEW PRICES
PetrolPKR 249.80
High Speed Diesel (HSD)PKR 262.80
Light Diesel Oil (LDO)PKR 187.00
Kerosene OilPKR 189.83

Ishaq Dar, the federal minister of finance, announced a hike in the price of all petroleum products, including gasoline, high-sulfur diesel, kerosene, and light diesel oil, in a brief televised address on Sunday morning (LDO). The price of gasoline and diesel would rise by 35 rupees per liter, the minister announced. He announced an increase of Rs 18 per liter in the price of light fuel and kerosene.

High speed diesel now costs Rs 262.80 per liter as opposed to Rs 227.80 per liter before the hike. From an early price of Rs 214.80/liter, the price of motor spirit/petrol reached a record high of Rs 249.80/liter. Kerosene oil’s price has increased from Rs. 171.83/liter to Rs. 189.83/liter. Light diesel oil now costs Rs 187 per liter as opposed to Rs 169 per liter.

Ishaq Dar recalled that the price of gasoline did not increase during the previous four months, from October to January 29. He also said that kerosene and diesel costs have been reduced.

Last week, the Pakistani rupee lost about 12 percent of its value versus the US dollar, while oil prices rose 11 percent globally. On the instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, it has been agreed to make a modest rise in the pricing of petroleum products notwithstanding international prices and currency depreciation, the finance minister stated. Dar stated that the hike is being implemented right away after the oil and gas regulatory authority’s proposal (OGRA).

OGRA claims that there have been complaints of false shortages and gasoline stockpiling in anticipation of price increases; as a result, this price increase is being implemented right away to address the artificial scarcity, the official stated. By 11 a.m., the revised pricing would go into effect in the following two to three minutes, according to Dar.
The minister anticipated that announcing increased pricing would put an end to rumor’s that gasoline supplies were running low. Due to the nation’s oil scarcity, the administration decided to modify fuel prices three days before the revision was supposed to take place on January 31.

Petrol stations all around the country stopped selling fuel on Saturday as a result of rumours that the price of gasoline and HSD will increase by up to Rs80 per litre. Rumors of a significant increase in oil prices for the upcoming two weeks led to stockpiling at gas stations and the artificial closure of more than 80% of gas stations in various parts of the nation.

According to a government source, the government computed the price of oil using oil prices up until October 27 and the average rupee conversion rate of Rs 236 per dollar.

The revised pricing are valid through February 15, 2023.

Fiscal restraint is necessary for the nation’s development and can only be achieved when democracy is stabilised, according to Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, who earlier made this statement at the conclusion of the two-day Bacha Khan Conference.

He stated that we need to stop depending on foreign help. He said that the late Bacha Khan had advocated for using native resources rather than ones that were imported.

Senator Yusuf Raza Gillani, a former prime minister and the head of the Pakistan People’s Party, had before urged adherence to the Constitution to uphold the rule of law and enhance democracy in the nation.

PTI “Secures” Imran’s Residence Amid Arrest Concerns

PTI “Secures” Imran’s Residence Amid Arrest Concerns

January 26, 2023 / By Zunair Tahir / Pakistan News

Imran Khan claimed in a televised address that he was shocked to see the establishment was still supporting his rivals as large numbers of supporters gathered outside his home to thwart a potential attempt to arrest the PTI chairman on Wednesday. He added that he would continue to challenge those who planned his ouster.

PTI leaders and supporters gathered at Zaman Park to support their leader as soon as word of the potential arrest of the former premier reached party members. A few hours before Mr. Khan was taken into custody early on Wednesday morning, Fawad Chaudhry was likewise attracted to Zaman Park by rumor’s that Mr. Khan would soon be detained.

Around two in the morning on Wednesday, workers began to arrive to Zaman Park, and they stayed there all day. As the audience grew throughout the day, not even Lahore’s chilly weather and a rain could dampen their spirits.

Wednesday night, PTI senior leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi renewed his appeal to legislators and party members in favor of Mr. Khan. He asked former PTI MPs and supporters to get to Zaman Park right now in a tweet.

Qureshi calls on party members to swarm the PTI chief’s home; the former prime minister visits Elahi and alleges the establishment is still supporting the PDM.

The followers, who kept themselves occupied with chants and halwa pooris, also expressed their ire at interim Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, whom they held accountable for the latest onslaught on the erstwhile ruling party. Similar to this, throughout the day, Mr. Khan-supporting chants could be heard at Zaman Park.

The demonstration against the alleged preparations to arrest Mr. Khan became popular on social media, notably Twitter, where it continued to be one of the top topics.

The event also gave PTI leaders a chance to engage in sporadic media interviews to demonstrate their steadfast dedication to Mr. Khan’s agenda.

Speaking to reporters outside Zaman Park, PTI Punjab Central President Dr. Yasmin Rashid criticized the detention of Fawad Chaudhry and promised that party leaders, workers, and the general public will not keep mute in the face of the government’s sleaze.

The existing government’s severe measures, she argued, “would not be able to divert PTI’s attention from its demand for free and fair elections.”

The PTI chairman said that in order to ensure that the nation had free, transparent, and legitimate elections, he “sacrificed” his party’s administrations in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He urged the judges to make sure that Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa general elections take place within 90 days after the dissolution of legislatures.

The election cannot be longer than 90 days if there is a Constitution and legislation in this nation, he said.

The PTI leader said that the establishment was backing the PDM and expressed dismay at how the ruling class had decided to defend people who had been robbing the nation for the previous three decades.

Mr. Khan asserted that Naqvi has appointed back all the members of the Hamza Shehbaz government.

He asserted that police had already begun to intimidate PTI employees and that everything was going “according to a plan.”

Separately, former chief minister Parvez Elahi also discussed the state of politics with the PTI leader. The nation, according to Mr. Elahi, is turning to the court to protect PTI leaders and workers from the ‘fascist’ government’s vengeance.

According to sources, Mr. Elahi also warned the PTI chairman that if he disbanded both assemblies and gave his rivals the reins of power, the PDM administration would unleash “the harshest sort of torture” on PTI and PML-Q leaders and workers.

Imran Khan’s Audio On The US Cypher Was Leaked Online Once More

December 31, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Pakistan News

Imran Khan, a former prime minister, was heard discussing a plan to decipher a “foreign scheme” involving a US cypher with former federal ministers Asad Umar and Shah Mahmood Qureshi in another audio tape that was published on Friday.

The deposed PM is heard suggesting to hold a meeting with the former foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and the foreign secretary in the most recent audio recording of the alleged discussion, which is supposedly between the PTI head and his close aides.

READ MORE: Imran Khan Loses Faith In Holding Early Elections

Adding that his previous main secretary had suggested obtaining a xerox copy of the minutes, the indignant politician then instructed his assistants to modify the minutes’ cypher.

During the discussion, a voice claiming to be that of Azam Khan can be heard indicating that the cypher arrived around the eighth or ninth of the month, while Khan claimed that the meeting took place the previous day on the seventh.

Khan then emphasized the need to avoid mentioning the United States, declaring that it is of the utmost significance for their decision to “play with the cypher.”

Asad Umar, a senior PTI politician, contradicted the party chairman by stating that the document was really a transcript of the meeting and not a letter. which the previous prime minister stated the word is for the public.

The ousted PM and his chief secretary at the time talked about how to manipulate the cypher in the first segment of the purported tape.

Khan is heard saying in the audio tape, “Don’t play with this in the name of America. Azam Khan responded by advising him to first have a discussion about the matter.

You may recall that the envoy wrote to issue a demarche at the conclusion of that cypher, Azam said.

He then urged Imran to meet with the foreign secretary and Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who was the country’s former foreign minister.

“Qureshi sb. will read aloud that material, and whatever he says will be copied. I will then record that the foreign secretary prepared this in the minutes. Then, Azam reportedly said, “We will turn it into minutes so that it may enter the office record.”

Then Azam said, “How did they pick it up if we don’t have a copy?” Khan said that there is absolutely a “foreign conspiracy” behind this.

Imran Khan Loses Faith In Holding Early Elections

December 29, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Pakistan News

Imran Khan, chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, responded angrily to reports that plans were being made to appoint a technocrat administration, saying he was no longer hopeful about the country conducting general elections anytime soon.

The former prime minister, who has maintained that there is no use in corresponding with the current “imported administration,” claimed that only the establishment was responsible for allowing elections to take place, and that this included the army chief. He asserted that he was not in touch with the “establishment.”

The PTI leader told reporters on Wednesday at his Zaman Park mansion said it was more crucial to persuade the PDM administration’s supporters than the PDM government itself to call for early elections.

He claimed that rumor’s of a technocrat administration being placed in the nation lead him to assume that the government is not planning to hold general elections anytime soon.

He claimed that the Pakistan Democratic Movement had become little more than a living room gathering.

Warns against installing technocrat government in country

Mr. Khan forewarned that “if any political engineering is tried in the upcoming general elections, the consequences would not be positive” using Bangladesh as an example.

He said that the PTI was Pakistan’s largest political party and that disobeying the will of the majority of Pakistanis would have disastrous repercussions. He used the example of the greatest party in East Pakistan, whose mandate was rejected.

The former prime minister criticized retired Gen. Qamar Javed Bajwa once more, saying that he had engaged in “excesses against Pakistan” that had brought the country dangerously close to default.

He said that Gen. Bajwa had done a grave damage to the nation and that the threat of default had escalated to 90% from 5% during his administration.

Although Gen Bajwa does not view political corruption as a big issue, Mr. Khan noted that his government’s working relationships with the previous army leader were “excellent.”

He asserted that by changing the NAB law, corruption cases of Rs. 1,100 billion were resolved.

The PTI representative had earlier claimed that Gen. Bajwa had “reached” an agreement with Asif Ali Zardari, the PPP’s leader, and Murad Ali Shah, the chief minister of Sindh. According to Mr. Khan, there was no point in signing what they refer to as a “charter of economics” because both the PML-N and PPP owned foreign holdings.

He said that the nation’s ongoing political and economic issues cannot be solved until after free and fair elections have established the rule of law. He claimed that if the ruling elite did not communicate with Afghanistan, the wave of terrorism would worsen.
