The Chiron Super Sport Produces More Horsepower Than Bugatti Had Anticipated

Bugatti uses a gigantic dyno to put its 273mph creation through its paces.
This is a 273mph Bugatti Chiron Super Sport connected to a very heavy-duty dyno, ladies and gentlemen of the Internet. Aren’t there echoes of Frankenstein’s Monster strapped to the surgical table?
Bugatti recently attached its own beast to a dynamometer to see how much power the 8.0-litre W16 engine might produce. It was originally stated that it had 1,578bhp, but new tests have revealed that it actually has 1,595bhp. That’s a lot better
The dyno is also a fascinating piece of equipment. It’s called a ‘high-performance all-wheel single-roller dynamometer’ by Bugatti, which implies the car’s wheel runs on one huge roller instead of the customary two.
As a result, the wheel’s ‘rolling behavior’ is more like that of a road wheel, and the tyres generate less heat than they would between two small rollers. That means you’ll be able to test at higher speeds, with Bugatti’s dyno capable of 480kph (298mph). Isn’t it fortunate that the road-going Super Sport is limited to 273mph?
Each set of rollers weights 3.5 tons, and the cooling fan is four meters tall. It can move 300,000 cubic meters of air per hour and generate a 230kph airstream (143mph).
To test the Super Sport, a combination of high-strength screws bolted to the carbon monocoque, ‘crisscrossing strong chains,’ and special straps are used. Sounds terrifying.
