The Italian supercar manufacturer desires to outsource the creation of non-essential components.
Samsung is most likely best recognised for its smart devices, which include LCD and LED panels, cell phones and tablets, TVs, digital movie theatre screens, computers, and many more items.
However, aside from the consumer technology sector, Samsung works on a wide range of other initiatives and is actually one of the largest component suppliers to the automobile sector, including infotainment systems, telematics, and sophisticated driver-assistance system parts. The South Korean business has partnered with a well-known carmaker for its latest venture.
In order to provide OLED technology for new display options that will be used in next production models from the Maranello-based company, Samsung and Ferrari inked a Memorandum of Understanding.
Benedetto Vigna, the CEO of Ferrari, and JS Choi, the president and CEO of Samsung Display, inked the agreement during a formal ceremony at Samsung Display’s Asan facility in Korea.
Elevating the client’s experience is crucial in the premium industry, Vigna said during the ceremony. “We will advance significantly in the digital environment of our next-generation models through this strategic partnership with Samsung Display for the dedicated development of bespoke OLED technology display solutions,” the company said.
There is no more information provided by the two parties on the new arrangement, and no financial information is presently available. Prior to now, Ferrari stated that as it puts more money into electrification and new powertrains, it would begin employing outside suppliers for non-essential parts or software.
The pinnacle of this new approach should occur in the middle of this decade when the supercar manufacturer introduces its first battery-powered production model.
The CEO of Samsung Display stated, “Based on our considerable knowledge in OLED technology, we are set to provide cutting-edge display solutions that satisfy Ferrari’s high requirements.
“We are confident that our partnership with Ferrari will present a dynamic opportunity to apply our strengths to the supercar field and strengthen our position in the automotive OLED market, enabling us to achieve ever greater heights.”
