Haris Rauf, who had outstanding performances against England, is ranked as the 14th best bowler.

The top players for India and Pakistan have seen significant increases in the most recent ICC Men’s Player Rankings for T20 Internationals.

Mohammad Rizwan, an experienced batsman, has reclaimed the top place in the batting rankings because to his outstanding performances in the current seven-match series against England.

In the second, third, and fourth T20Is against England, Rizwan scored 88*, 8, and 88 runs, respectively, to enable him hold onto first place. With the series tied at 2-2 going into Wednesday’s fifth game, his contributions helped Pakistan win the second and fourth T20Is.

Suryakumar Yadav of India has moved up to No. 2 as a result of his brilliant 69 off 36 deliveries in the third Twenty20 International against Australia in Hyderabad. His performance enabled India to defeat its 187-goal and win the series 2-1.

Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, earned his second T20I century of his career against England in the second T20I, propelling him to No. 3 in the batting rankings.

One of the top gainers in the batting rankings is England’s rising star Harry Brook, who rose a staggering 118 spots to No. 29. With scores of 31, 81*, and 34 in the past three T20Is against Pakistan in Karachi, Brook has won over fans large and small with his aggressive batting.

Following his passionate efforts in the T20I series against England, pacer Haris Rauf has created quite an impression on the bowling rankings. Rauf has moved up seven positions to No.14 thanks to performances of 2/30, 0/39, and 3/32 in the past three games.

Axar Patel finished with the most wickets in the series against Australia, and his performances of 2/13 and 3/33 in the last two games have helped him move up to No. 18 in the rankings.

After underwhelming performances in the series between India and Australia, pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar (down to No. 10) and spinner Adam Zampa (down to No. 6) have both dropped one spot apiece.

Mohammad Nabi, the captain of Afghanistan, has supplanted Shakib Al Hasan as the top all-rounder in the rankings. After his outstanding performances in the series against Australia, Hardik Pandya has also climbed into the top four.

In the past two T20Is against Australia, Pandya recorded scores of nine and 25* while also contributing with a few useful overs. Wanindu Hasaranga, another all-around player from Sri Lanka, and he are currently tied for fourth place.

As nations ramp up their preparations for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, which begins in October, there will be a tons of T20 International matches coming up. As a result, players will be vying for spots in the rankings tables.

Pakistan Win By 3 Runs In Dramatic Finish At Karachi

Pakistan Win By 3 Runs In Dramatic Finish At Karachi

September 26, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Sport News

In a thrilling match on Sunday in Karachi, Pakistan defeated England by three runs. After losing their top three, England’s 168-point chase never really got underway. However, Haris Rauf took two wickets in as many balls to leave Adil Rashid and Reece Topley needing four runs from the last over after Liam Dawson hit 24 from an over to push his team close to victory. They were unable to complete the task, though, and the hosts tied the series at 2-2.

The series’ next game will be played in Lahore with the score currently tied at 2-2 between the two sides (September 28, 30 and October 2).

At the National Stadium in Karachi on Sunday, England captain Moeen Ali called the toss and chose to put Pakistan in to bat.

Pakistan was given the opportunity to bat first but was only given a goal of 167 runs, which by all accounts should have been simple for an English team to reach after setting a massive 222-run total in the previous game.

Haris Rauf (3-32) Mohammad Hasnain (2-40) and Mohammad Wasim (1-30) pressured the English side with their speed, while spinners Mohammad Nawaz (3-35) and Mohammad Iftikhar (0-23) limited the run rate even as the Pakistani batters struggled to find their feet.

Pakistan played in the 200th T20 game, becoming the first side to do so.

From the previous game, England made three adjustments. While Olly Stone received his opportunity to play in an international T20 match, Alex Hales and David Willey entered the lineup.

They took the place of Mark Wood, Sam Curran, and David Malan.
In order to bring Asif Ali and Naseem Shah, Pakistan left aside the unhealthy Haider Ali and Shahnawaz Dahani.

Pakistan VS England 2022, 1st T20 Starts Today

Pakistan VS England 2022, 1st T20 Starts Today

September 20, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Sport News

For a historic visit, the England cricket team has landed in Pakistan. After 17 long years, the Three Lions are returning to Pakistan for a seven-match T20I series. Babar Azam and company enter this series coming off a heartbreaking loss to Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup final.

Before the 2019 T20 World Cup, Pakistan will be aiming to make apologies and resolve all of the problems within their team. In the crucial series, Mohammad Rizwan’s strike rate will be scrutinized. Many commentators have criticized the 30-year-old for his dubious strategy in the Asia Cup final. Babar Azam, the captain, will try to regain his form by scoring some runs.

Full Schedule:

Karachi leg of the series

  • 1st T20I – September 20
  • 2nd T20I – September 22
  • 3rd T20I – September 23
  • 4th T20I – September 25

Lahore leg of the series

  • 5th T20I – September 28
  • 6th T20I – September 30
  • 7th T20I – October 2

Pakistani Squad:

Babar Azam (c), Shadab Khan (vc), Mohammad Rizwan (wk), Mohammad Nawaz, Shan Masood, Aamir Jamal, Abrar Ahmed, Asif Ali, Haider Ali, Haris Rauf, Iftikhar Ahmed, Khushdil Shah, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Wasim Junior, Shahnawaz Dahani, Usman Qadir

England Squad:

Jos Buttler (c & wk), Moeen Ali (vc), Alex Hales, Dawid Malan, Jordan Cox (wk), Harry Brook, Sam Curran, Liam Dawson, Chris Woakes, Ben Duckett, Richard Gleeson, Tom Helm, Will Jacks, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Olly Stone, Reece Topley, David Willey, Mark Wood, Luke Wood

England, captained by Jos Buttler, is aware that Pakistan is the favourite to win in these circumstances. It is important to note that a few of the England team’s players have had some experience playing in Pakistan thanks to the PSL. In recent years, players such as Alex Hales and Dawid Malan have competed in the Pakistan Super League.

For the Karachi leg of the series, Jos Buttler won’t be available, hence Moeen Ali will captain England. Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, Chris Jordan, and Adil Rashid are T20 experts who will be crucial to England’s prospects. Here are all the specifics of the historic T20I series between Pakistan and England before the first T20I in Karachi.

Additionally, England arrives in Pakistan with a debt of gratitude to settle and an air of regret. The ECB was effectively kept afloat during an unprecedented crisis for the sport by Pakistan’s own willingness to visit England in the summer of 2020

When Covid had struck, and tolerating the enormous restrictions of that bio-secure summer. As a result, when last year’s goodwill return visit was cancelled without a good reason, the outrage was understandable and justified.

England Cricket Team Arrives In Pakistan After 17 Years

England Cricket Team Arrives In Pakistan After 17 Years

September 16, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Sport News

The cricket team from England arrived in Karachi on Thursday as part of their first trip to Pakistan in 17 years.

England last played in Pakistan in 2005, and they were scheduled to return last year before abruptly cancelling after New Zealand also postponed a tour owing to safety concerns.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), which was outraged by the action, described it as “disrespectful.”

Pakistan was compelled to host England for series in 2012 and 2015 after an assault in 2009 on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore. The UAE served as one such location.

International cricket has slowly made a comeback in Pakistan over the past five years, and earlier this year, Australia completed a successful tour for the first time in over 25 years.

The PCB expressed confidence that the England games will also go ahead without a hitch, noting that the Australia series had “demonstrated our event planning and operational expertise. “Roads between the England team accommodation and Karachi’s National stadium will be closed off and guarded by security personnel on game days. Their route will be monitored by a helicopter, and businesses that have stadium views will be required to close.

The government of Pakistan was engaged in conflict with insurgents the previous time England visited. Although the security situation has significantly improved since then, assaults have increased since since the Taliban retook control of the neighboring country of Afghanistan.

The journey takes place as Pakistan struggles to recover from devastating floods that has affected at least 33 million people and submerged roughly a third of the nation.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) stated last month that despite the humanitarian crisis, the team was “desperate” to play in Pakistan.

Rob Key, general director of men’s cricket, said: “I think ideally us going over there and playing will be a positive for what’s been a really horrific moment for the people of that nation.”

From September 20 to October 2, the 19-man England side, led by Jos Buttler, will compete against Pakistan in seven Twenty20 matches in Karachi and Lahore as preparation for the T20 World Cup in Australia that will take place the following month.

Three five-day Test matches will be played in England when they return in December.

Afghanistan Hopes To Bounce Back Against Pakistan l Asia Cup 2022 l

Afghanistan Hopes To Bounce Back Against Pakistan l Asia Cup 2022 l

September 7, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Sport News

With a victory, Pakistan will be one step closer to the title game, while Afghanistan will be eager to make their Super 4s debut.

On Wednesday, Pakistan and Afghanistan—two sides that are quite accustomed to the UAE—will face off against one another for the first time in the Asia Cup and for the third time in T20Is. Even though Pakistan has a flawless record against Afghanistan, having won both of their meetings in 2013 and 2019, the game in Sharjah will be open to anybody.

Afghanistan began the Asia Cup with two excellent victories over higher-ranked Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in the group stage, but they were defeated by Dasun Shanaka’s team in the first Super 4 game despite scoring 175 for 6. However, there were leftovers for them.

It was a tight game, to start. Overall, they’ve demonstrated that they are no longer only dependent on the wicket-taking spin combination of Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and skipper Mohammad Nabi. Fast bowlers Fazalhaq Farooqi and Naveen-ul-Haq for them have proven to be match-winners.

Najibullah Zadran, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, and Ibrahim Zadran are just a few of the batsmen who have risen to the occasion. If Afghanistan is to go to the finals, they must maintain such standards.

Meanwhile, despite missing their skipper and having important players injured, Pakistan has been able to produce convincing victory. In filling in for Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan has performed admirably, scoring 192 runs in three innings. Fakhar Zaman and Khushdil Shah have also contributed, and all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz scored 42 runs off 20 balls in the last game against India after moving up to the No. 4 position.

Their greatest strength continues to be their bowling, as spinners Shadab Khan and Nawaz have combined for 13 wickets in three games. The onslaught appears to be much more effective when the young Naseem Shah is included in the scene.

Pakistan will go to the final with a win, but they will face a very determined opponent in Afghanistan, who is also vying for their first Super 4 triumph after defeating the defending champions India in a thrilling last-over match.

It’s difficult to replace a bowler like Shaheen Shah Afridi in Pakistan’s bowling lineup, but Naseem Shah, who has played in only three T20Is, has shown he can come close. His blistering pace and swing made him a star in red-ball cricket, and it turns out that the same combination also works in the shorter formats. The 19-year-old has taken five wickets in three tournament games so far, and he will be crucial in limiting Afghanistan’s improving batting. Especially now that Haris Rauf, who is seasoned, is having some difficulty.

Pitch And Circumstances:

As has been the case in two out of the three games played in Sharjah, the side batting first will be hoping to score a lot. Sri Lanka outran Afghanistan’s 175 while Pakistan defeated Hong Kong with a score of 193.

The Pakistani medical staff has given Rizwan, who suffered a knee injury on Sunday, the all-clear to play. He will continue to bat at the top of the order and stand behind the wicket.

Stats:

  • In the past, Pakistan has defeated Afghanistan in both of their T20I matches.
  • The Pakistani player with the best economy rate in this Asia Cup (with at least five overs) is Shadab Khan, who has a 5.43.
  • In T20s, Rashid Khan has five times eliminated Babar, scoring 58 runs off of 48 balls in the process.

Key Statistics & Records For India And Pakistan As Their Longtime Rivals Square Off Once More In The Asia Cup 2022

Key Statistics & Records For India And Pakistan As Their Longtime Rivals Square Off Once More In The Asia Cup 2022

August 27, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Sport News

At the same location where their arch-rivals shockingly destroyed the defending champions in the T20 World Cup last year, Rohit Sharma’s India and Babar Azam’s Pakistan will be hoping to get off to a strong start in the 2022 Asia Cup.

India, led by Rohit Sharma, will be seeking vengeance against Pakistan after losing the previous meeting between the two teams by a margin of 10 wickets.

ICC T20 Batting Ranking So Far:

Over the years, India and Pakistan have engaged in a number of notable contests in a variety of formats, 14 of which took place at the Asia Cup. India consistently outperforms its rivals in tournament matches, including in the Asia Cup, even if Pakistan may dominate the head-to-head statistics in Tests and ODIs played between the two teams.

The two sides will now face off against one another on Sunday in the opening game of the 2022 Asia Cup in Dubai, with Pakistan being headed by Babar Azam and India being led by Rohit Sharma. Before the eagerly awaited match, let’s look at some vital statistics:

Head-To-Head Comparison:

As previously mentioned, India leads the tournament records, while Pakistan leads the overall records in ODIs and Tests. The Asia Cup, however, will be contested in the T20 format, and it’s vital to remember that India now leads 6-2 in this format. India now leads the Asia Cup 8-5, with the 1997 match being called off once. Pakistan leads India 12-9 in Test matches while leading the ODI series 73-55.

Most Runs Scored:

Rohit Sharma, the India captain, leads all T20I scorers with 3487 runs in 132 matches at an average of 32.28 and a strike rate of 140.26. Virat Kohli, India’s second-highest run scorer, has scored 3308 runs in 99 T20 Internationals at an astounding average of 50.12 and strike rate of 137.66. Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan, is in first place with 2686 runs in 74 T20 Internationals at an average of 45.52 and a strike rate of 129.44.

Most Wickets Taken:

Both countries’ top wicket-takers are spinners, with Yuzvendra Chahal of India leading the pack overall with 79 dismissals in 62 games. Shadab Khan, the vice captain of Pakistan, has taken 73 wickets in 64 games, making him their most productive wicket-taker. Veteran Indian bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has reached the milestone in 72 games, ties Shadab’s total.

While Shadab is not quite ready to surpass Chahal for India as the highest wicket-taker in the shortest format, he is still some way off. With 98 T20I wickets in 99 games, former skipper Shahid Afridi leads the team, and former fast bowler Umar Gul is second with 85 in 64 games. Saeed Ajmal, a former spinner, places third after tying Gul’s record in 64 games. Fourth on the list is Shadab.

Last Asia Cup Match:

While Pakistani supporters will never forget it, Indian fans would want to avoid looking at the previous game’s scorecard. India enjoyed the better name recognition going into the two sides’ T20 World Cup opener, in addition to their unblemished record versus Pakistan in 50-over and 20-over World Cup matches. However, the Indian batting order was destroyed by the fast bowlers from Pakistan, headed by Shaheen Afridi. They reached 151/7 thanks to the 57 off 49 balls scored by captain Virat Kohli. Mohammad Rizwan and skipper Babar both scored unbroken half century as Pakistan successfully chased down the goal without losing a wicket.

Shaheen Shah Afridi, who is injured, has been replaced in the Pakistani team for the 2018 Asia Cup by Mohammad Hasnain.

Hasnain, who earned a name for himself as a fast bowler as a youth, has advanced steadily. He has played 18 T20 Internationals for his nation and taken 17 wickets in those matches. With spells in the Big Bash League, the Caribbean Premier League,

English county cricket, and the Hundred, where he most recently represented the Oval Invincible, he has also gained notoriety abroad. In T20Is, the 22-year-old has already scored three times.

Hasnain has also encountered certain difficulties. He was barred from bowling in international cricket in February when it was discovered that his actions were questionable. Marcus Stoinis seemed to query the fast bowler’s release earlier this month, but Hasnain was eventually able to remedy it and was given full clearance to bowl once again.

On August 28, Pakistan will play its opening match in the Asia Cup against India. They had hoped that Shaheen, whose knee injury had been concealed by the team management since he had it in July, would be able to recuperate by that time.

He continued to train with the team and even went on trips; he was a member of the ODI team that won over the Netherlands, but he did not participate in any of the three matches. Shaheen was eventually informed that he required four to six weeks off, and as a result,

He was disqualified from both the Asia Cup and the next seven-match T20I series against England. In order to be healthy for the T20 World Cup in October as well, he must act quickly.

After The US Open, Serena Williams Will Stop Playing

After The US Open, Serena Williams Will Stop Playing

August 10, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Sport News

The legendary American Serena Williams said on Tuesday that she was “developing away from tennis” and intended to leave the game she dominated with 23 Grand Slam victories after the US Open, which starts later this month.

Williams defeated Spain’s Nuria Parrizas Diaz on Monday to go to the second round of the Toronto Open in just her second singles match since she resumed playing at Wimbledon in June after a year off.

However, the 40-year-old claimed following the match that she could now see the tennis career’s end in sight.

Williams remarked in a Vogue story, “I have never liked the word retiring.

“Evolution may be the best term to use to describe what I’m doing. I’m here to let you know that I’m moving away from tennis and toward other priorities.

“I discreetly founded Serena Ventures, a venture capital business, a few years ago. I soon afterward began a family. I want that family to expand.

In search of the elusive 24th trophy that would tie her with Australian Margaret Court, who currently owns the record, Williams won her last Grand Slam in 2017.

The American, who has participated in four major finals since the birth of her daughter Olympia in 2017, came agonisingly close to accomplishing that accomplishment.

The former world number one Williams, who sought the counsel of her friend Tiger Woods before picking up a racket again this spring, said: “There are people who say I’m not the GOAT (greatest of all time) because I didn’t pass Court’s record, which she achieved before the “Open era” that began in 1968.

“If I claimed I didn’t want that record, I’d be lying. Of course I do. However, I don’t really think about her on a daily basis.”

It was time to go in a “new route,” Williams subsequently stated in an Instagram post.

“The timer has started. I have to prioritise being a mother, achieving my spiritual objectives, and finding a new, interesting Serena.”

She must also keep up with a huge company portfolio.

She has supported start-up businesses for almost ten years, and Serena Ventures has funded 16 unicorns (companies with a market value more than $1 billion), including Masterclass.

Williams revealed that she and her husband, businessman and investor Alexis Ohanian, had been trying to conceive for the past year; their four-year-old daughter Olympia is thrilled about the choice.

Before going to sleep, she may occasionally pray to Jehovah for a baby sibling, Williams noted.

The American athlete, who won the Australian Open in 2017 when two months pregnant, has no interest in competing while pregnant again. “I need to be two feet into tennis or two feet out,” she said.

She remarked, “I never wanted to have to decide between tennis and a family.” But something has to give because I will turn 41 in September.
