This Is The Brand New Pagani Utopia, A Retro Styled V12 Vehicle

Utopia is Pagani’s third new model series, following Zonda and Huayra.
Leonardo da Vinci, Horacio Pagani’s greatest inspiration and idol, famously said that “water is the driving force of all nature.” He was mistaken, with all due respect to the renowned polymath.
No, a custom Mercedes-AMG biturbo V12 with a surplus of horsepower and no contemporary frills is what drives all of nature. Everyone is invited to the brand-new, distinctly retro Pagani Utopia. Only Horacio’s third hypercar in history.
Since the Zonda created “the legend” and the Huayra introduced active aero and carbo-titanium, the business admits that it was necessary to clarify precisely what this new “C10” stands for. Utopia, named after Sir Thomas More’s well-known poem, is born into a world that is gradually doing away with such obvious excess.

What was Horacio’s reply? “Just a lovely V12, no bulky batteries or hybrid power.” Pure seven-speed manual or automatic gearbox, no dual-clutch technology. This vehicle is so retro that Rocky Marciano would be it if it were a heavyweight. Regaining “simplicity, lightness, and the pleasure of driving” was the goal of the brief. Additionally, a 6.0-liter turbo V12 engine made especially for Pagani is likely to provide a great deal of enjoyment.

We only know that the enormous twelve-cylinder Mercedes-AMG engine inside, uh, Utopia, produces 864 horsepower and “a remarkable” 811 lb ft of torque. It supposedly complies with even the severe emissions standards of California and “revs higher and is more versatile.” Pagani doesn’t specify, but it most likely replaces the engine.
Pagani installed a smaller, more compact automatic Xtrac unit with helical gears in instead of attaching this behemoth to a dual-clutcher. Utopia will get a real seven-speed manual transmission in the later part of 2023, not a “virtual manual.” I wonder what Pagani is alluding to there.
This brutal engine is housed in Pagani’s well-known carbo-titanium monocoque, which has front and rear tubular alloy steel subframes. This package is certainly new-school. Double wishbone suspension made of forged aluminium surrounds the vehicle, together with helical springs and electronically controlled active dampers.
The brakes are more powerful than one might anticipate. Front and rear six- and four-piston calipers clamp over carbon ceramic vented discs, which are all concealed by 21- or 22-inch forged aluminum alloy wheels.

There is no running from that body. Each of Pagani’s vehicles “begins with an aesthetic shock,” the company freely acknowledges, and Utopia in particular is supposed to “radiate simplicity.” In an effort to create a more timeless design, the firm makes reference to the more “fluid and curving” lines this automobile exhibits.
It has been purposefully stripped of the more visible aerodynamic add-ons, such as large wings, splitters, and vents, but some have likely been saved for the unavoidable special editions we’ll see later in its lifespan. And while a Pagani is a remarkable automobile regardless, this will undoubtedly generate conversation.
