In Japan, Yamaha Updates The YZF-R125 And YZF-R15 Sportbikes

These sport bikes for new riders now include a slipper clutch. For novice riders in nations with license restrictions, Yamaha offers a substantial assortment of sport bikes.

The 2023 YZF-R125 and YZF-R15, two miniature sport bikes that are geared towards distinct classes—moped class 2 and light motorcycle classes—have, for instance, been formally introduced in Japan by Team Blue. These new models clearly take stylistic cues from their larger brothers, the YZF-R7 and YZF-R1, just by taking a quick look at them.

With the YZF-R15 and YZF-R125, Yamaha hopes to stand out in the beginning market, which is flooded with inexpensive and accessible sport bikes. Indeed, Yamaha does this with the amazing equipment they provide, which goes above and above the standards for each class.

Notably, they both include a slipper clutch and assist, which improves control while downshifting and results in a more comfortable ride. Additionally, traction control systems have the added advantage of enabling novice drivers to take to the road with confidence in any weather.

Yamaha offers two beginner-friendly bikes that are loaded with some really interesting technology. They both come equipped with a bi-function LED headlamp as well as an LCD instrument panel that echoes the design of earlier YZF-R1 models.

The two sport bikes’ running gear consists of 17-inch wheels that are fitted to rear monoshocks and inverted front forks that are suspended by superior aluminum swingarms.

Given that they each have a 125cc and 155cc single-cylinder engine, the two bikes’ performance is by no means that of fire-breathing beasts.

The Yamaha Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) system, which optimises valve timing for fuel efficiency and low-end torque while giving confidence-inspiring power at the higher ends of the rev range, benefits both of them despite having liquid cooling, fuel injection, and valve actuators.

A six-speed manual gearbox with a slipper clutch transfers power to the rear wheels. For even more thrilling performance, a quick-shifter is an additional option.

The Yamaha YZF-R125 and YZF-R15 will go on sale in Japan around October 16, 2023, with regards to price and availability. The YZF-R125 will cost 517,000 Yen, or roughly $3,502 USD, while the larger YZF-R15 will sell for 550,000 Yen, or around $3,725 USD.
