The Brand-New D-Skwal 3 Provides Top-Notch Security At An Affordable Price

Shark, a French helmet manufacturer with a large assortment of helmets to suit various needs and price points.

The Race R Pro GP, the top model in the line, is only available to the most discerning athletes. On the other hand, with the introduction of its third generation, the firm has updated one of its most reasonably priced lids, the D-Skwal.

With the exception of the LED lighting and motion-activated brake light, the Shark D-Skwal 3 is almost identical to the Shark Skwal i3.

It has a Lexan polycarbonate shell that comes in two sizes to improve fit and safety. Multi-density EPS foam, which is found beneath the surface, offers the majority of protection because of its capacity to absorb and disperse impact forces. The D-Skwal 3 is accredited to the most recent ECE R22.06 safety standard as a result of all these safety measures.

The optical class 1 screen, which includes a Pinlock 70 anti-fog coating as standard, is another example of a premium feature.

The retractable sun visor and air mesh aperture will be appreciated by long-distance cyclists as will the additional ventilation they provide on warm, bright days.

A thorough ventilation system with two air inlets and several heat extractors is also included at the back.

The redesigned Shark D-Skwal 3 is held with a practical quick-release micrometric clasp, making it perfect for both long distance trips and city riding that needs frequent donning and removing of the lid.

To further cut down on noise, it gets a chin curtain and an anti-swirl bib. It also works with the Sharktooth Prime communications system. Of course, a typical communicator from Cardo or Sena may also be handled with ease.

PRICE:

The Shark D-Skwal 3 is available and priced in a variety of styles, including three simple colors and different graphic variations. It starts at 199.99 Euros, or around $212 USD, and is available in sizes XS to 2XL.

Brabus 1300 R Masterpiece Edition Is The Company’s Last KTM Collaboration

Brabus 1300 R Masterpiece Edition Is The Company’s Last KTM Collaboration

September 28, 2023 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News

Brabus and KTM announced the Brabus 1300 R Masterpiece Edition, the third and final bike in their trilogy, will be released on September 27, 2023. Only 50 of these incredibly rare bikes will ever be produced and sold globally, with 25 available in the Onyx Black and 25 available in Diamond White colorways. Both variations feature even more unique Brabus carbon fiber bodywork than ever before, as well as highlights painted in a tint that Brabus refers to as Frozen Gold.

Only 50 Will Ever Be Made

This is Brabus and KTM’s third joint project, all of which are based on the KTM 1290 Super Duke R Evo. The first was the Brabus 1300 R, which was introduced in February 2022 and was available in two colors and 154 total motorcycles. In less than two minutes, the batch was sold out. The Brabus 1300 R Edition 23 followed, which had 290 motorcycles in total and was also available in two colors. It too sold out nearly immediately after being on sale.

The KTM LC8 V-twin engine, which powers the Brabus 1300 R Masterpiece Edition, is rated to produce 180 horsepower at 9,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 140 newton-meters (103 pound-feet) at 8,000 rpm. According to reports, the period from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour (or 62 mph) is 3.2 seconds. 270 km/h, or slightly under 168 mph, is the top speed.

While Brabus had complete creative control over the majority of this bike’s components, the semi-active WP Apex suspension, which has both an automated and a manually adjustable mode, handles suspension responsibilities.

A WP Apex Pro 7117 steering damper is also included. The front brakes have two Brembo Stylema 4-piston calipers and 320mm floating rotors, while the rear brakes have a Brembo 2-piston caliper and a single 240mm disc. A standard feature set includes ride modes, quickshifter, cornering and super moto ABS, and an adaptive brake light.

It’s time to discuss the Brabus of it all at this point. Since 1977, Brabus has been involved in the automobile tuning industry, and it is known for its expertise in carbon fibre, leathercraft, and CNC-machined components. The company’s name is frequently shown alongside those of partners including Mercedes-Benz, Smart, Maybach, and most recently, KTM.

How can Brabus improve on the work it accomplished for the 1300 R’s earlier iterations? Naturally, you turn the carbon fiber and exclusivity up. It is obvious that very few individuals will ever acquire one of these Masterpiece Editions because just 25 pieces of each color are being produced.

Regarding carbon fiber, Brabus expanded its already vast collection of carbon fibre parts and pieces found from headlight to taillight by adding a single-sided swingarm cover, dash cover, connection cover, and rear side fairing covers.

The front of the bike has a sizable, spherical Brabus LED headlamp, side fairings with winglets inspired by MotoGP, a front spoiler, and a tail with a single seat and license plate bracket.

The wheels are forged alloy Brabus Monoblock Z “Gold Platinum” units that Brabus produced specifically for this bike. A CNC triple clamp, adjustable CNC clutch and brake levers, CNC aluminum brake and clutch reservoir covers, adjustable CNC foot pegs, bar end mirrors and a slip-on dual exhaust with Frozen Gold accent rings are just a few more Brabus-made features.

Both the grips and the seat are heated, and the seat has a distinctive “Diamond Rising” quilted Brabus leather design.

A customized Brabus indoor motorbike cover, floor mat and carbon key box are also included with the Brabus 1300 R Masterpiece Edition, in addition to a distinctive Brabus 1300 R Masterpiece emblem on the seat cushion.

Without value-added tax (VAT), the Brabus 1300 R Masterpiece Edition costs 41,930 Euros in Germany. As of September 27, 2023, that is almost $44,065. You can get in touch with Brabus at the number shown in our Sources to learn more if you’re interested.

Along with their new motorcycle, buyers of the Brabus 1300 R Masterpiece Edition will also get a special corporate tour of the firm’s headquarters in Bottrop, Germany.

Alexander Buckan Is Appointed As The New Head Of Design At BMW Motorrad

September 28, 2023 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News

Models including the CE-02 and CE-04, as well as the future R 1300 GS, were designed by Buckan.
Design is crucial when it comes to motorbikes, you could definitely say that.

It includes much more than just design; it also considers how we engage with the machine and how it responds to us. Yes, there is a well-established “formula” for the many kinds of motorbikes, but the ones that stand out the most successfully combine useful functionality with eye-catching flair.

Undoubtedly, one of the busiest departments at motorbike manufacturers is design. Having said that, Alexander Buckan has recently been named the new head of design at BMW Motorrad.

Alexander Buckan succeeded Edgar Heinrich as CEO, who is now departing the firm after 35 years of service. Heinrich was in charge of some of the most popular bikes in BMW’s current portfolio.

He joined the BMW Motorrad design team in 2003 as a transportation designer and has been a part of it ever since.

The CEO of BMW Motorrad, Dr. Markus Schramm, expressed his joy for Buckan’s appointment as design director by underlining his love and enthusiasm for two wheels.

We are excited to introduce Alexander Buckan, a seasoned colleague and motorcycle enthusiast, as the new leader of BMW Motorrad Design. On January 1st, 2024, Buckan will begin serving as the Head of Design for BMW Motorrad.

The BMW F 800 GS, G 450 X, R 1200 GS LC, and R 1200 GS Adventure LC are just a few of the well-known vehicles Alexander Buckan created.

He was elevated to head of BMW Motorrad Vehicle Design in 2015 after enjoying early-career success. He collaborated closely with Edgar Heinrich at that time on the CE-04 and CE-02 electric two-wheeler designs.

His skills also went into the recently announced R 1300 GS, which will be officially launched on September 28, 2023, at BMW Motorrad Welt in Berlin.

We would like to thank Edgar Heinrich for his many years of exceptional service. Markus Schramm emphasised the commitment and devotion Edgar Heinrich provided to the organization in his statement.

Numerous admirers throughout the world have been inspired by his love for two-wheeled recreation. Heinrich has been employed at BMW Motorrad for 35 years and is currently preparing for retirement. He was in charge of bringing vehicles including the BMW R 1100 S, K 1200 R, and R 1200 GS to market.

MV Agusta Will Rename The Lucky Explorer

MV Agusta Will Rename The Lucky Explorer

September 27, 2023 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News

Enduro Veloce has replaced Lucky Explorer and is now more in line with the rest of the portfolio.

With the Lucky Explorer, MV Agusta deviated from their naming policy. We anticipated seeing an entirely different Italian horse with an entirely different name to emphasize its singularity in the lineup. The Lucky Explorer, according to a source will instead be known as the “Enduro Veloce.”

According to certification files made in Australia, MV Agusta will replace the moniker Lucky Explorer with the more traditional “Enduro Veloce.”

Conventional because the brand’s 800cc sport-tourer is known as Turismo Veloce, which indicates what it is meant to do.

The new adventure bike from MV will no longer be known as the Lucky Explorer, or LXP. Instead, it will be remembered only as a humorous concept name that once captured the interest of the business world.

In addition to the renaming, several images that painted the bike red and silver, much like the Superveloce and much like MV’s other legendary motorcycles, were also included in the documents. Without a doubt, MV Agusta will introduce its new adventure bike with a color scheme that is distinctly MV Agusta: red and silver with bronze highlights.

The LXP moniker was so dropped by MV Agusta. The fact that Lucky Explorer is a sub-brand is one of the causes. As a result, the models were sold under the secondary brand rather than the primary.

The LXP may now be formally referred to as an MV Agusta thanks to the Enduro Veloce trademark, especially the 9.5 version with an MV Agusta triple cylinder at its heart. When it launches, it will be the greatest off-road MV Agusta money can buy, fitting perfectly within the portfolio.

The Italian company has so far only produced sportbikes and roadsters. But with the new Enduro Veloce, the model’s purpose is obvious from the name alone.

What does this indicate for MV Agusta, then? Timur Saradarov said in an interview that the 9.5 model will succeed. 500 Enduro Veloces will be produced in the initial batch. The first few will be first editions, and it is yet unknown whether they would include extras for early adopters.

We can also anticipate that MV Agusta will have a unique exhibit for us to see at EICMA 2024 this year, and we’ll be on the lookout for the Enduro Veloce in the lineup.

Afaz, A New Motorcycle Brand From Suzuki, Features Scooters And Budget Motorcycles

Afaz, A New Motorcycle Brand From Suzuki, Features Scooters And Budget Motorcycles

September 25, 2023 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News

Suzuki and Malaysian business KMSB have entered into a legally binding agreement to launch the Afaz brand. The components required for Malaysian manufacture to satisfy growing local demand will be provided by the Japanese.

Malaysia is fortunate since Suzuki and Kuala Lumpur-based KMSB Motors have joined forces to introduce the Afaz brand.

The Malaysian Prime Minister’s Office hosted the signing event. Among those present were Suzuki Chairman Toshihiro Suzuki, KMSB Chairman Faez Yahaya, and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

AFY Mobility Industries Sdn. Bhd. owns KMSB. In actuality, Suzuki Malaysia’s only stockholders are Malaysians. In the Southeast Asian nation, Suzuki motorbikes are also manufactured and sold.

Suzuki will begin providing engine and fairing parts for the 110cc to 150cc Afaz models in the first half of 2024 under the terms of the agreement. Suzuki’s plants in Asia will supply the parts.

At the event, Suzuki’s president stated: “Suzuki would want to contribute to the growth and prosperity of the Malaysian motorcycle market and industry in addition to motorcycle sales by providing replacement parts to KMSB.

Afaz is anticipated to make a significant contribution to the local economy while also creating lots of job opportunities in a nation in need. Malaysia’s motorbike industry is still expanding, particularly in the business sector. As a point of reference, there were 718,000 motorbikes on the market in the nation in 2022.

The introduction of Afaz occurs at the same time as Malaysia’s release of the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030), in which the Prime Minister defined the key goals for the nation’s industrial sector through 2030.

More precisely, NIMP 2030 seeks to establish Malaysia as a major participant in a variety of industries and a global leader in industrial growth.

Important individuals like Datuk Seri Isham Ishak, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), and Datuk Wira Arham Abdul Rahman, Executive Director of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), attended the grand launch of the new motorbike brand with the Prime Minister of Malaysia, the Chairman of the Board of KMSB, and the Chairman of the Board of Suzuki.

What sort of motorbikes Afaz will create is unknown at this time. They will probably certainly focus on the Malaysian mass market category that sells the most products, which includes scooters and budget motorbikes.

However, we anticipate them to also unveil some mid-range motorcycles. On the other hand, we are aware that the business will start its own research and development, marketing, and innovation effort. a project created especially to meet the demands of the Malaysian market.

In Japan, Yamaha Updates The YZF-R125 And YZF-R15 Sportbikes

September 23, 2023 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News

These sport bikes for new riders now include a slipper clutch. For novice riders in nations with license restrictions, Yamaha offers a substantial assortment of sport bikes.

The 2023 YZF-R125 and YZF-R15, two miniature sport bikes that are geared towards distinct classes—moped class 2 and light motorcycle classes—have, for instance, been formally introduced in Japan by Team Blue. These new models clearly take stylistic cues from their larger brothers, the YZF-R7 and YZF-R1, just by taking a quick look at them.

With the YZF-R15 and YZF-R125, Yamaha hopes to stand out in the beginning market, which is flooded with inexpensive and accessible sport bikes. Indeed, Yamaha does this with the amazing equipment they provide, which goes above and above the standards for each class.

Notably, they both include a slipper clutch and assist, which improves control while downshifting and results in a more comfortable ride. Additionally, traction control systems have the added advantage of enabling novice drivers to take to the road with confidence in any weather.

Yamaha offers two beginner-friendly bikes that are loaded with some really interesting technology. They both come equipped with a bi-function LED headlamp as well as an LCD instrument panel that echoes the design of earlier YZF-R1 models.

The two sport bikes’ running gear consists of 17-inch wheels that are fitted to rear monoshocks and inverted front forks that are suspended by superior aluminum swingarms.

Given that they each have a 125cc and 155cc single-cylinder engine, the two bikes’ performance is by no means that of fire-breathing beasts.

The Yamaha Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) system, which optimises valve timing for fuel efficiency and low-end torque while giving confidence-inspiring power at the higher ends of the rev range, benefits both of them despite having liquid cooling, fuel injection, and valve actuators.

A six-speed manual gearbox with a slipper clutch transfers power to the rear wheels. For even more thrilling performance, a quick-shifter is an additional option.

Price:

The Yamaha YZF-R125 and YZF-R15 will go on sale in Japan around October 16, 2023, with regards to price and availability. The YZF-R125 will cost 517,000 Yen, or roughly $3,502 USD, while the larger YZF-R15 will sell for 550,000 Yen, or around $3,725 USD.

Extremely Limited 2024 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10RR WSBK Edition Will Be Released By Kawasaki In Germany

August 29, 2023 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News

Just (ZX) 10 Of These Will Ever Be Made

Kawasaki Germany is introducing a very limited-edition Ninja ZX-10RR WSBK Edition for the 2024 model year that goes beyond just colour and decorations.

These bikes are expertly manufactured by the Kawasaki Racing Team at its Friedrichsdorf headquarters and include a variable air intake system to closely mimic the World Superbike machines they imitate. Only ten of these duplicate devices will ever be produced and offered for sale to the general public.

Pankl Racing Systems provides the 998cc inline four-cylinder engine with some essential internal upgrades, such as lightweight pistons and titanium connecting rods.

This specific machine also has racing camshafts, piston pins with diamond-like coating (DLC), and lightweight and robust valve springs.

The Ninja ZX-10RR WSBK Edition also receives a pair of premium Marchesini forged wheels to reduce unsprang weight and provide better racing advantages on the track, since weight reduction is always important for race motorcycles.

The variable air intake system that has been put in the airbox, however, is the real showpiece on this machine.

It’s not always on, but if a rider also uses the racing engine control unit (ECU), it may be switched on. Additionally, a unique wiring harness needs to be built.

Once the bike has achieved the predetermined high RPMs, servos are actuated to elevate the intake funnels, enabling more air to enter the combustion chamber. The funnels maintain their low position at low and medium engine speeds to provide optimized fuel-air mixes for the optimum rates of combustion at all engine speeds.

Each of these 10 limited-edition bikes will have complete WSBK KRT graphics and a plaque with a number to identify it in the lineup on the tank.

These bikes will also have a unique WSBK Edition package that is packed with goodies including autographs from Kawasaki WSBK riders Jonathan Rea and Alex Lowes, a glass block with a laser-etched picture of the bike, a personalized key fob, and an I-clip.

The purchase also includes decal sheets with Rea’s and Lowes’ race numbers, allowing the rider to select whatever number they wish to put on their vehicle.

PRICE:

This bike costs €33,145 in Germany, which includes VAT at the rate of 19%. As of August 28, 2023, that is equivalent to around $35,824. To put that into perspective, the normal 2024 Ninja ZX-10RR costs EUR 29,995, or around $32,416.

New BAIC BJ40 Model Unveils With Modern Design

New BAIC BJ40 Model Unveils With Modern Design

August 23, 2023 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News

Finally introduced is the BAIC BJ40, second generation. Modern technology is featured in the off-road body-on-frame SUV, including a double screen in the interior, LED lighting, self-driving capabilities, etc.

A body-on-frame SUV from the first generation, the BJ40 is still available in China and other countries.

The first-generation BJ40’s external styling is reminiscent of the Jeep Wrangler, which is not unexpected given that BAIC is best known for its BJ80 SUV, a Mercedes-Benz G-Class clone. One of the first locally produced SUVs to gain popularity in China was the BJ40. However, it desperately needed a new generation, and now it has one.

The second-generation BAIC BJ40 borrows the full-sized SUV BJ60’s current design language, which the brand debuted last year. It is no longer a Jeep Wrangler knockoff; instead, it features an LED grille and rectangular headlamps.

The blocky dimensions and high bonnet line of the second generation remain. Other features include frameless doors, large sideview mirrors, sizable bumpers, and an abundance of plastic body trim. Another intriguing element is the two-piece tailboard. Additionally standard is a swing-out tailboard with a spare tire.

Inside, the new BJ40 is BAIC’s most cutting-edge SUV. In front of the digital instrument panel is a circular three-spoke steering wheel with design cues from the BJ60. A split screen that “floats” over the centre console is the primary feature of the BJ40.

The first display is the touch screen in the Centre console for the driver. The front passenger will receive the second one. Although the screen sizes aren’t known yet, they seem to be enormous.

Under the displays are the vents for the air conditioning and heating. Wireless charging pads, buttons, a retractable gear selector, and cup holders are all located in the center tunnel. The brand-new BJ40 has a five-seat interior, much like the previous model.

A HYCET 2.0 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 245 horsepower and 385 Nm of torque is also included.

An eight-speed ZF torque converter automatic gearbox transmits the power to the rear wheels (in normal mode). The drivetrain has a locking differential and a part-time four-wheel drive system.

On August 25, China will launch the pre-sale of the new BJ40 at the Chengdu Auto Show. The cost and other specifics are currently unclear. However, rumor’s claim that it would cost somewhere between Rs. 8 million and Rs. 12 million.

Lanzador Concept Teases First All-Electric Lamborghini

Lanzador Concept Teases First All-Electric Lamborghini

August 22, 2023 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News

Lamborghini announces a concept “ultra GT car” that will someday become its first all electric vehicle as it continues to advance into the electric age following the introduction of its planned Revuelto plug-in hybrid super sports car. The Lamborghini Lanzador has arrived.

The Lanzador is a 2+2 coupe that mixes influence from the super-sports-coupe-on-stilts Huracan Sterrato and the long (almost 197 inches from bumper to bumper) Urus SUV. The end result is what Lambo is dubbing an extreme GT, which is a full-size luxury cruiser with the room, comfort, and quiet operation of a sports car. The prototype vehicle’s liftback design and raised ride height, however, give it a hint of active lifestyle utility flavor. If you’ve heard this one before, stop me.

At Monterey Car Week 2023, the Lamborghini Lanzador Concept Will Make Its Debut

I chatted with Mitja Borkert, Lamborghini’s Design Lead, who emphasized how the Lanzador makes use of distinctive Lamborghini design cues like the greenhouse and shoulders that are squared off, the single roofline that sweeps from the nose to the tail, and the cab-forward proportions.

The ultra GT’s goal of being a comfortable, luxurious commuter and the realities of designing around an electric battery pack contributed to the Lanzador’s large size and tall ride height, but the automaker was still able to produce a car with a surprisingly low seating position and, hopefully, a driving experience reminiscent of the Revuelto.

The Lanzador’s multi-genre architecture is supported by a network of performance systems that is very adaptable and configurable. CEO Stephan Winkelmann hinted to an expected power output of over a megawatt (over 1,341 horsepower) through the concept’s wheels using a full-electric all-wheel drive system.

It was later revealed to me in an interview by Lambo CTO Rouven Mohr that the Lanzador is most likely going to remain with two electric motors rather than three or more, since this is what the brand’s engineers believe to be the ideal number for power, weight, packaging, and driving experience.

The crazy aerodynamics of the Lanzador piqued my curiosity the most. In order to accomplish the Lanzador’s goal of being a grand tourer that drivers will have to deal with on a daily basis, according to Mohr, it was necessary to conceal one of the most sophisticated active aerodynamics systems I’ve ever seen inside and beneath the EV’s silhouette.

When more downforce is required, motorized aerodynamic components in the bumpers, front splitter, and rear diffuser instantly deploy. To minimize drag, under-hood louvres pull high-pressure air from the wheel arches. To direct air over or through the spoiler built into the rear decklid, carbon-fiber strakes sprout from each side of the rear skylight.

Even the headlights have air passages to channel air over and through other aerodynamic components that are tucked away on or beneath the hood.

The Lanzador’s transformation from a low-drag cruiser to a high-downforce performance, with the aerodynamic components deploying and the suspension locking in, is something like witnessing a Transformer in action, but Mohr was most pleased with the company’s upcoming Integrated Control software.

Hardware won’t affect the game in the future, claims Mohr. “You need a certain amount of hardware, but the Integrated Control system is the game-changer because it determines how the automobile is responding. We use [software version] 3.0 in our first electric car, which means we combine all active systems, including active aerodynamics. We also have a lot more options for steering the electrical model, which will help us drive very well.

Lamborghini anticipates that this Integrated Control version 3.0 will also incorporate machine learning and artificial intelligence technology to adapt to the driver and the driving conditions.

For instance, it might predict grip based on data from the sensors and adjust the torque distribution of the electric motors, or it might observe the driver’s behavior on a long, straight stretch of highway and modify the aerodynamics and suspension for greater range and comfort. Driver assistance technology will also receive more attention on the Lanzador, and piloted and automated driving technologies are expected to debut.
