In Japan, A Brand New Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Matte Black Edition Debuts

August 4, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News

The SUV Receives Several New Trim Pieces

The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado continues to serve its purpose and is now offered in Japan in a new Matte Black Edition. This comes after the 70th Anniversary Edition, which went on sale last year just in time for the unveiling of the new Land Cruiser.

The new Matte Black Edition adds some style to the SUV but doesn’t improve performance. Toyota has added matte black trim elements all around the vehicle, including the headlamp garnish, fog light bezels, and the grille and grille insert. The SUV also gets 18-inch matte black six-spoke metal alloys.

Gallery:

The outdated SUV need a major renovation, so the upgrades aren’t really big. It is smaller than the Land Cruiser, which was introduced for the 2010 model year and entered a new generation last year. Since then, the SUV industry has undergone tremendous shift, and a new LC Prado may be in the works.

Last year, Toyota introduced the brand-new Land Cruiser LC300, giving it brand-new foundations in the shape of Toyota’s TNGA platform.

The SUV had a significant exterior redesign and a thorough interior makeover to bring it into line with the other SUV models in the market. When the redesigned Land Cruiser Prado is released, we anticipate it will be built on the Land Cruiser’s new platform.

Specifications:

Only white or black are offered in the Land Cruiser Prado. The SUV’s powertrain looks to remain unchanged and will likely continue to be either the 163 horsepower (121 kW) 2.7-liter gasoline engine or the 201 horsepower (149 kW) 2.8-liter diesel engine. A six-speed automatic transmission transmits power to all four wheels.

Price Tag:

For between $32,662 and $38,739 at the current exchange rate, Toyota is asking for between 4.3 and 5.1 million for the Land Cruiser Prado Matte Black Edition. The Lexus GX sold in the US is comparable to the Land Cruiser Prado. It is a little less sturdy than its full-sized sister and smaller than a normal Land Cruiser.

Uber Will Reveal To Drivers Their Pay After Accepting A Ride

Uber Will Reveal To Drivers Their Pay After Accepting A Ride

August 4, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Tech News

The way drivers accept trips has been “reimagined,” according to Uber.

The firm claims to have “totally redesigned the way drivers take rides” with the introduction of its new feature, “upfront fares,” which will now display drivers the actual amount they will be paid for a journey.

The ride-sharing service has grown more adaptable with this new innovation. Uber is currently developing a new tool that will let drivers to browse nearby trip requests and select the ones they want to accept. Since the driver would be informed of the destination and fee of the trip before accepting it, there will be fewer transportation cancellations for the passengers.

According to an upfront support fee document, the cost displayed to Uber drivers before to accepting a trip is dependent on a number of variables, including “base charges, projected trip length and duration, pickup distance, and surge pricing.”

The fare is anticipated to fluctuate in response to the rider changing drop-off locations and unanticipated traffic. Wait times and tips won’t be included in the total.

According to the study, transitioning to upfront charges would also result in certain drivers earning less, for instance, if there is no traffic.

However, the system makes sure that drivers make more money on short journeys with traffic, trips where there aren’t many passengers at the destination, or trips where they have a greater distance to travel to pick up the passenger.

Additionally, Uber has announced the launch of trip radar, which will allow drivers to select from a list of nearby ride requests that might be a good fit for them.

For The Fourth Time In 2022, Pak Suzuki Have Raise Bike Prices

August 3, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News

Following Atlas Honda and Yamaha, Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) has also raised the price of their motorbikes as a result of the devaluation of local currency.

This is the fourth price increase PSMC has announced for its motorcycles this year. The new ex-factory costs for PSMC bikes as of August 1 are as follows:

Suzuki’s GD 110S, GS 150, GS 150SE, and GR 150 all had starting prices of Rs. 199,000, Rs. 215,000, Rs. 232,000, and Rs. 315,000, respectively, at the beginning of 2022.

This indicates that costs have increased this year by up to Rs. 50,000. Last year, PSMC hiked bike costs four times. Suzuki bike costs increased by much to Rs. 28,000 between January and December 2021.

Two-wheelers are now out of the price range for the majority of purchasers due to the bike industry’s recurrent price increases over the past two years. The bike sector in particular need the government’s attention because of this problem.

People of Pakistan are facing serious economic crisis and the companies are increasing the prices of their bikes day by day and for the local people it is very difficult to afford a good bike now and if u assume that a private job person whose salary is around 40,000/: is not able to afford these Suzuki bikes in this price range he will be forced to buy used bike or that bike whose maintenance is low and parts are easily available in the market.

Jazz Urges Workers To Prepare For Consequences

Jazz Urges Workers To Prepare For Consequences

July 27, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Pakistan News

In an internal message distributed earlier this week to the staff of the firm, Jazz CEO Aamir Ibrahim expressed his concern on the economic future of the nation and its negative impact on Jazz’s operations on Tuesday.

As we begin to make certain difficult but essential decisions, I am raising the degree of this problem to critical, according to the official message from the Telco Chief that Profit was able to receive.

CEO Warns Of Tough Times Ahead

This report continues the series of incidents that highlight the dire state of telecom firms in recent years. Rising operational expenses as a result of high inflation and rising energy prices are an issue for the business. (Read Profit’s article, Telcos Energy Concerns: Needless Whining or a Genuine Problem, for more information.)

Additionally, due to the high cost of capital and a declining rupee, the international players in the industry have reduced their expectations of profits from Pakistani operations. The benchmark rate used to determine how much value the cash flows generated in the future would have in comparison to the current day is the cost of capital. (E.g. A 250ml juice box was Rs15 a few years ago; today, the identical item costs Rs25. As a result, the Rs 15 is now worth less than it was a few years ago.)

High interest rates, risk premium—a presumed return for making investments in high-risk jurisdictions—and securities are the main causes of the cost of capital. Reputable economist Professor Aswath Damodaran has assessed Pakistan’s equity risk premium to be above 15%, greater than nations like India, Bangladesh, Egypt, and other African nations.

These changes have reduced the value of Telenor ASA’s local businesses, which are owned by Telenor Pakistan. The recoverable amount of its assets in Pakistan is now projected to be about $600 million, down from $850 million due to this impairment. (Read more about it in Profit’s piece Telenor Impairment: Has the group given up?)

Furthermore, PTCL reported a net loss of Rs 3 billion in its financial statements for the six months ended June 30, 2022, as a result of high operational costs brought on by the rise in energy prices and skyrocketing interest rates, which increased its finance costs.

In the corporate message, Jazz’s CEO also acknowledged the aforementioned difficulties, saying, “We have all individually been touched by the growing cost of products and services. Even jazz is not immune to the current economic downturn. In actuality, the interest rate increase and the dramatic increase in gasoline and energy prices have a significant impact on us.

In Pakistan, cellular mobile operators (CMO) are in constant need of a business strategy that would enable them to escape the vicious cycle of low average revenues, growing operational expenses, and consequently slim profit margins.

Pakistan Cut The Army’s Budget By RS72 Billion In Order To Finalize IMF Agreement

July 6, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Pakistan News

In order to satisfy a key requirement of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) concerning establishing primary budget surplus in the next fiscal year, Pakistan has reduced the armed forces development plan by Rs72 billion or one-fifth of the amount provided on June 10.

One of the key requirements of the IMF for the resumption of the bailout package is having a primary budget surplus of Rs153 billion, or 0.2 percent of the national GDP. Now, Finance Minister Miftah Ismail is hoping to get an agreement on the personnel level by the end of this week.

The initial budget, which the government presented to the National Assembly on June 10, included Rs363 billion in funding for the initiative to develop the armed forces. On the other hand, the amended budget, which the Ministry of Finance made public after receiving National Assembly approval, shows that the budget provision has been cut to Rs291 billion.

The armed forces development program has been reduced by Rs72 billion, or around 20%. The funding is extra to the standard defense budget. Due to financial restrictions and IMF-imposed restraints, the armed forces development program has been cut for the second time in as many years.

The previous administration had set aside Rs340 billion for this purpose during the previous fiscal year, however the budget records reveal that only Rs270 billion was actually spent. The Express Tribune has previously reported that the previous administration had agreed to cut funding for the military’s contingency duties.

When contacted, a representative of the Ministry of Finance stated that the military development program needed to be scaled back in order to lower total spending levels and put the country in a position to meet the IMF’s main budget surplus objective.

On the strength of provincial cash surpluses of Rs750 billion, the government has set the primary budget surplus target at Rs153 billion, or 0.2% of GDP. However, the provincial budgets do not account for the savings of Rs. 750 billion, and the IMF requested that the government obtain the support of the provinces through memoranda of understanding (MoUs).
