Imran Khan Injured As Man Opens Fire Near PTI Reception Camp

November 3, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Pakistan News

Imran Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, was driven away in a bulletproof car after a gunman opened fire at his container in Gujranwala.

Imran Khan, the chairman of the PTI, was shot by a guy in Gujranwala, close to the party’s welcome camp, injuring him and alarming the adjacent long march participants.

According to Geo News, the former prime minister suffered injuries to his leg and was taken to a hospital for treatment; however, the hospital’s location remains unclear due to security concerns.

A large anti-government march is being led by the PTI chairman in the direction of Islamabad. He had stated that the protest march will continue for a further 10 months until the election date was established.

The objective was to be at the federal capital by November 4 prior to this announcement. Later, it was changed to November 8–9, and then again, to November 11. Fawad Chaudhry, the head of the PTI, then said that the party will keep altering the dates in order to “wear the administration out.”

Since he was removed from office earlier this year by a resolution of no-confidence, the PTI chair is on his second march toward Islamabad.

Economic uncertainty in Pakistan has been exacerbated by political instability, with foreign rating agencies doubting the ability of the present administration to continue challenging economic policies in the face of political pressure and impending elections.

Imran Advises PTI Supporters To Suspend Protest & Get Ready For Long March

Imran Advises PTI Supporters To Suspend Protest & Get Ready For Long March

October 22, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Pakistan News

Imran Khan, the chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), urged his followers on Friday to end the nationwide demonstrations over the ECP’s decision to disqualify him in the Toshakhana reference.

The leader of the PTI blasted the ruling coalition for seeking to “silence” him in a pre-recorded address that was shown on TV. Additionally, he claimed that he had predicted the outcome and accused the chief election commissioner of prejudice.

At the conclusion of his speech, he changed his tone and urged his followers to halt the nationwide demonstrations.

Imran declared: “I am urging the protestors to halt their demonstrations because people are in hardship.” He then vowed to battle these “thieves” till the end of time.

He also asked his fans to prepare for the lengthy march of the party. “I had stated that I would host a lengthy march by the month’s end. I’ll stage the largest demonstration. I shall keep pushing for true freedom until the rule of law is achieved.

Pakistan, according to Imran, is at a turning point. Allah desires that we stand up to these robbers. Before we get ready to fight them, we can’t get rid of these robbers.

He said that he will issue the call for the long march as he concluded his speech.

Imran made his comments after PTI supporters protested the election watchdog’s decision to dismiss the former premier in key cities throughout the nation.

PTI members and supporters gathered in huge numbers in Islamabad at the Faizabad Interchange, where police used tear gas to stop the demonstrators from proceeding in that direction.

The workers stopped traffic on the artery by blocking the main route and torching tyres.

Several hundred demonstrators attempted to block a crucial entrance to Islamabad, but were repelled with tear gas, according Pakistani police spokesman Sohail Khan.

He said that the demonstrators tried unsuccessfully to block other highways in the city as well as attack police with stones, wounding three officers.

The highway from Faizabad to Islamabad has been unblocked, according to a later report from the Islamabad police. According to the police, the route from Islamabad would also be unblocked shortly. They also noted that some locals were obstructing traffic by lighting trees on fire.

The growing number of protestors caused traffic on the street to get backed up. Police also used water cannons to disperse the crowd because of the impending violence.

Ali Haider Zaidi and other party officials could be seen participating in what was described as a “calm demonstration” in images posted by the party’s official Twitter account.

The Top Military Brass’s Massive Overhaul Is About To Begin

October 12, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Pakistan News

In a dramatic shake-up of the top brass ahead of the change in leadership at the end of next month, the army announced on Tuesday that 12 major generals had been elevated to the rank of lieutenant general.

12 Major Generals Promoted In One Go

According to ISPR, the promoted generals are Major General Inam Haider Malik, Major General Fayyaz Hussain Shah, Major General Nauman Zakria, Major General Mohammad Zafar Iqbal, Major General Ayman Bilal Safdar, Major General Ahsan Gulrez, Major General Syed Aamer Raza, Major General Shahid Imtiaz, Major General Mohammad Munir Afsar, Major General Babar Iftikhar,

It is unusual to see so many people promoted to the position of lieutenant general at once. Although these elevations are typically supposed to be done on the basis of vacancies, the promotions in the Army had been overdue for about a year.

The seats vacated by the retirement of three lieutenant generals in the middle of October 2021, one in July of this year, and five at the end of September would be filled by the 12 newly promoted generals. Lt Gen Majid Ehsan, the former IG Arms, Lt Gen Amir Abbasi, the former QMG, and Lt Gen Hamooduz Zaman Khan, the former Commander of Army Air Defence Command, were among those who had retired a year earlier.

Lt Gen Moazzam Ejaz, the then Engineer in Chief, had retired in July. In contrast, Lt Gen Abdul Aziz, the then commander of the Lahore Corps, Lt Gen Nadeem Zaki Manj, the then commander of the Mangla Corps, Lt Gen Shaheen Mazhar Mehmood, the then IG Training and Evaluation Lt Gen Syed Mohammad Adnan, and Lt Gen Waseem Ashraf, the DG

After Lt. Gen. Sarfraz Ali, who was the corps commander of Balochistan at the time, was killed in a helicopter crash on August 2 while carrying out flood relief operations, the tenth position became vacant.

To replace the anticipated four-star vacancies caused by the approaching retirement of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Gen Nadeem Raza and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, two more generals have been promoted in advance of the elevation of two lieutenant generals.

The COAS alone has the authority to promote soldiers at this level. However, it is customary for the chiefs to meet with other top generals informally before making their choices.

The 12 promoted officers would make up a sizable portion of the team that the new commander would take over in November, making the most recent promotions one of Gen. Bajwa’s most important decisions made prior to his departure. The posting of the promoted officers, which GHQ would shortly complete, would now be the focus of all attention. A number of significant posts are presently open.

Immediately following his appointment in 2016, Gen. Bajwa had the chance to elevate seven major generals, which aided in the formation of his own team. Due to the elevation of two officers to four star levels and the resignation of four other officers after being replaced, the seven slots had at that time become vacant.

Gen Inam Haider Malik served as the director general of works and chief engineer, Gen Fayyaz Hussain Shah as the director general of doctrine and evaluation at Training and Evaluation Branch, Gen Ahsan Gulrez as the director general of military training at Training and Evaluation Branch, Gen Mohammad Zafar Iqbal as the officiating commander of the Army Air Defense Command, Gen Syed Aamer Raza as the chairman of HIT, Gen Shahid Imtiaz as the commandant of

A couple of the recently promoted officers had collaborated closely with Gen. Bajwa. These officers include DG ISPR Gen Babar Iftikhar, DG Perspective Planning Cell Gen Ayman Bilal Safdar, and Vice Chief of General Staff-A Gen Nauman Zikriya.

In this experiment, over 20 prominent generals were replaced, but aside from a few, there weren’t many notable shocks.

The butterfly house at Jallo Park’s botanical garden was reopened to the public on Monday by the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), who also launched a number of initiatives aimed at introducing stunning butterflies of all types, breeding them, and fostering their growth.

After the government refurbished the house, it was reopened. Lockdowns related to Covid-19 caused the plant to close in 2020.

The creation of the butterfly house in 2016 marked the beginning of Pakistan’s practise of housing a variety of the most exquisite butterflies.

A group of youngsters from Gujranwala visited the home on Monday and enjoyed witnessing butterflies of different sorts, according to a PHA official source who spoke to Dawn.

The PHA collected a wide variety of butterfly species in 2016, some of which were imported. The PHA collaborated with the departments to complete a significant tree-planting operation in order to create a favourable natural environment before releasing the butterflies inside the residence.

The house has a briefing area as well, where guests can learn more about the various species, their reproduction, growth, etc. The height of the ceiling and roof of the home makes it difficult to regulate temperature in inclement weather (winter and summer). However, the PHA installed chillers and other temperature-controlling machinery. However, the equipment malfunctioned, and later, the government shut down the plant as a result of lockdowns related to Covid.

By maintaining the roof, dome, and chillers, according to officials, PHA Director General Zeeshan Javed rendered the residence functional.

The Lahore Division Administration and the PHA claim that thousands of saplings were planted during a special campaign after the city’s Shining and Green Campaign.

“All portions of Lahore’s abandoned parks will be completely restored with tree planting over the next four weeks. Additionally, it was requested that the PHA director general provide a performance study, according to Lahore Commissioner Amir Jan. He suggested that the six and a half kilometre long area around The Mall, including Empress Road, be made more attractive by the PHA.

At a 500 kV grid station called New Multan, the National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) has added a 250-MVA transformer to the existing 160 MVA (220/132 kV) transformer.

A representative stated that the transformer had been powered up just a few days prior.

According to the NTDC, a thorough strategy for gradually removing system limits was created to address system overload, particularly during the summer.

“The addition of the transformer would increase the grid station’s capability for loading and relieve pressure on Multan Electric Power Company customers. At the same grid station, a second transformer has been upgraded, the representative stated.

He said that the company’s industrial, rural, and urban customers will gain from the introduction of new transformers.

The Minister evaluated the actions taken by the respective departments and the resultant impact on the trend in pricing of basic products in light of the recent floods that caused damage to staple food commodities like wheat, potatoes, tomatoes, and other crops.

Sensitive Price Index Report was presented by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) (SPI). According to reports, production of ten necessities—including power, tomatoes, LPG cylinders, bananas, garlic, pulse masoor, and cooking oil—has decreased during the last week.

Wheat was included in the report on commodities with rising prices. The estimate comprising 17 cities and derived from various provinces was also considered at the conference.

It should be mentioned that the Sensitive Price Index (SPI) is calculated on a weekly basis in order to examine the country’s price situation and gauge how vital commodities are changing in price over shorter time periods.

The Pakistani Competition Commission gave an analytical study on the nationwide profiteering phenomenon. The Minister gave the order to dissuade shops from making excessive profits and to implement real solutions in this regard.

Due to the enormous pricing differences between the wholesale and retail marketplaces. The minister further ordered the administration in Islamabad and the provincial governments to work together to reduce the profit margins between the wholesale and retail costs of necessities.

The Planning Minister instructed Provincial administration to closely monitor profiteering and to keep all associations informed in order to distribute aid to the general public.

The Ministry of Industries informed the public that the price of palm oil has significantly decreased on the global market; nevertheless, the local market would not immediately feel the effects of the substantial reduction on the global market.

The Minister of Industries was instructed to secure a 20 rupee reduction in Ghee/edible oil costs within the upcoming month.

The conference was informed that the destruction caused by floods has resulted in a significant reduction in the supply of commodities, which has increased prices overall. The Minister emphasized that the Laya supply of wheat should have a significant influence on Balochistan’s wheat prices.

ISLAMABAD — After the worst floods in the nation’s history, Pakistan’s prime minister assured the nation’s homeless population on Wednesday that the government would make sure they were compensated to rebuild and resume their lives.

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, second from the right, converses with a youngster at a makeshift school in a tent in the Pakistani Baluchistan flood-stricken community of Suhbatpur. Following the nation’s worst-ever floods, Sharif pledged the nation’s millions of homeless people on Wednesday that the government would make sure they were compensated to repair their houses and resume their lives.

A half million people are living in camps as winter approaches after being evacuated by the flood, which damaged 1.7 million houses. Delivering food, tents, and money to the victims has been the government’s top priority up to this point. Since mid-June, the floods have claimed 1,481 lives, affecting 33 million people.

We’ll do everything we can to provide you with financial support so you may build new homes “Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif spoke to a number of families residing in tents and temporary structures in the Baluchistan town of Suhbatpur. “The government will provide compensation to those who lost their houses and crops, “he stated during his remarks on television.

Under the town of Suhbatpur, where hundreds of schoolchildren were receiving assistance from UNICEF to study in a tent, Sharif also informed the students that a new school will be built there in the following two months.

“Pakistan has never seen such massive climate-related destruction, “Sharif stated to a group of attorneys on Wednesday in Islamabad. “Watching flooded villages, towns, and cities was awful.”

After 15 days, according to Sharif, Pakistan will enter its winter season, and the flood victims will face a new challenge: figuring out how to survive in the bitter cold when they were previously living in tents throughout the summer.

Even getting clean drinking water to flood victims has become difficult, he claimed.

70% of Pakistan’s wheat, cotton, and other crops were devastated by the floods. The government now claims that the economic toll is far higher than Pakistan’s initial estimate of $10 billion in losses. The world community, especially those responsible for climate change, has been encouraged by the UN to provide greater aid to Pakistan.

Thousands of people are now homeless as a result of the monsoon rains that destroyed entire communities, bridges, and highways. A third of the country’s land area was submerged under water at one time.

Unprecedented rain-related losses in Pakistan have been attributed by several analysts to climate change.

Sherry Rehman, Pakistan’s minister for climate change, stated to a group of MPs from the Asia Pacific on Wednesday in Islamabad that the threat posed by climate change, which “knows no boundaries,” is currently affecting the whole globe.

She urged cutting emissions to protect other nations from the harm that her country is already experiencing.

Overnight, Pakistan received its first shipment of Saudi Arabian help.

The United States and many other nations, including the United Nations, have already provided around 90 planeloads of aid.

In response to an urgent call for $160 million, member states have so far pledged $150 million, according to Julien Harneis, resident coordinator for the United Nations in Pakistan, who made the announcement during a news conference on Wednesday.
