Pakistan Hopes To Be Removed Off The FATF’s Grey List

Pakistan Hopes To Be Removed Off The FATF’s Grey List

June 17, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Pakistan News

The Financial Action Task Force (FATF), a global watchdog for combating money laundering and terrorist financing, is expected to announce whether Pakistan will be removed from or retained on its increased monitoring list, also known as the “grey list,” today (Friday), but the government is optimistic that the decision will be in Pakistan’s favor.

After meeting over 30 conditions, Pakistan is ‘one step away’ from being removed off the FATF’s ‘Grey List’: Sources

BERLIN: Pakistan is hopeful of being removed off the Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF) grey list, according to a BBC Urdu report on Friday, citing a government insider who stated that “things appear to be going Pakistan’s way this time.”

Today is the last day of the FATF’s four-day plenary conference, after which the global anti-money laundering watchdog will declare which nations will remain on the list and which will be removed.

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar, who is also the chair of the National Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Coordination Committee, is leading the Pakistani delegation to the conference in Berlin.

Hina Rabbani Khar, on the other hand, has recommended against “prejudging the result” of the FATF conference.

The minister resorted to Twitter to express his displeasure at the situation, writing: “The FATF plenary sessions in Berlin are still going on. Following the completion of the sessions tonight, the FATF will release a public statement. Predicting the outcome or reporting on the basis of speculation might and should be avoided.”

She went on to say that the administration has scheduled a media conference on this matter for Saturday morning at the Foreign Office.

Pakistan’s progress under the 2018 and 2021 FATF Action Plans will be examined during the conference, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Plenary will discuss the FATF’s International Cooperation Review Group’s proposals (ICRG).

The minister met with the incoming and departing FATF Presidents, the FATF Executive Secretary, and leaders of delegations from FATF member nations to inform them of Pakistan’s significant progress in completing both FATF Action Plans.

It’s worth noting that Pakistan was added to the list in 2018 and given a set of tasks to perform. The FATF kept Pakistan on the list after a review in March 2022, stating it had “made substantial progress in satisfying its recommendations.”

According to government sources, Pakistan has undertaken a tremendous diplomatic push to remove itself from the FATF’s grey list.

Pakistan need the votes of Turkey, China, and Malaysia to be removed from the list, and all three nations have pledged their complete support to Pakistani authorities.

Except for the fines, Pakistan has executed practically all aspects of the FATF Action Plan, and has instituted prosecutions and made all required legislation adjustments in this respect.

Iman Vellani A Pakistani-Canadian Actress Talks About Her Road To ‘Ms. Marvel’

Iman Vellani A Pakistani-Canadian Actress Talks About Her Road To ‘Ms. Marvel’

June 17, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Entertainment News

Iman Vellani, a Pakistani-Canadian actress, is ecstatic to have landed the main part in ‘Ms. Marvel.’

“It’s real, I still can’t believe it,” Vellani stated in an exclusive interview with Geo News’ morning show Geo Pakistan.

Vellani, like her character, is a great superhero lover who created her own Ms. Marvel outfit when she was 15 years old.

“I was only 15 at the time and used to read Ms. Marvel comics and dress up as Ms. Marvel for Halloween in high school,” she explained.

“I sent a recording to my aunt after receiving a message from her,” Vellani said of her path from fan to Marvel studio. She phoned me two days later and invited me to Los Angeles, where I travelled with my father.”

“I visited Marvel studio in Los Angeles,” the young actress, who has made the final change in the new Disney+ television drama “Ms. Marvel,” said. It was a lot of fun because there were so many Marvel folks present.”

“It was the most momentous day of my life,” Vellani remarked.

She went on to say that she was similarly afraid of working alongside people who were her childhood heroes, but that she overcame her fear. “Seeing Comics celebrity from up close was an honour for me,” she continued.

She also discussed and likened her film persona to her ‘desi’ Pakistani family.

“It’s a whole family structure; just as Kamala asks her parents for permission to travel somewhere, I do the same in real life.” Like Aamir, I have an older brother (from Marvel). He teases me, yet he’s adorably adorable.”

“It also featured Pakistanis’ favorite songs,” the 19-year-old actor stated of the film’s soundtrack. This music is an integral aspect of the whole project.”

Ms. Marvel is widely regarded as Marvel Comics’ biggest breakout star in the previous decade.

Vellani will star with Brie Larson, who plays Captain Marvel, in the 2023 film ‘The Marvels,’ in addition to playing Kamala Khan in the television program.

The Ferrari Purosangue SUV Is Set To Debut In September With A Naturally Aspirated V12 Engine

June 17, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News

It will only account for about 20% of Ferrari’s total annual exports

Let us travel back in time to September 2018, when Ferrari unveiled the Purosangue at its Capital Markets Day. It hasn’t been disclosed in over four years, but the wait is almost over. In September, Maranello will unveil its first-ever SUV, equipped with a powerful V12 engine. The statement was made today during the Capital Markets Day event, which also included a few other goodies.

By limiting shipments to clients to less than 20% of total annual supplies, the Prancing Horse hopes to keep the Purosangue (relatively) exclusive. In other words, starting in 2023, just one out of every five new Ferraris sold will be an SUV. The Italian company continues to avoid using the word “SUV,” instead stating that the vehicle would be “unlike any other.”

Gallery

Furthermore, it will be a “pure V12 model,” meaning it will be powered by a naturally aspirated engine. With ever harsher emissions rules, it’s comforting to learn that the NA V12 will continue to be produced for a few of years.

While the Purosangue is expected to contribute for around 20% of total sales, the Icona series and the new hypercar will be significantly more exclusive. According to Ferrari, these vehicles will account for less than 5% of overall deliveries, whereas Special Series models such as the 812 Competizione / 812 Competizione A will account for about 10% of total sales.

By 2026, hybrid and all-electric powertrains will account for 60% of all vehicles, with ICE-powered vehicles accounting for the remaining 40%. When it comes to powertrains, Ferrari has been tight-lipped on how much power the V12 will produce in the Purosangue, but we do know that it produces 830 horsepower in the 812 Competizione. Furthermore, a more powerful setup has already been shown.

With the Purosangue, Ferrari will join the ranks of high-end manufacturers like as Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Aston Martin, and Lamborghini in having their own SUVs. By the end of the decade, McLaren is expected to follow suit.

Apple to Release A Low-Cost iPad 10 With Several New Features

Apple to Release A Low-Cost iPad 10 With Several New Features

June 15, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Tech News

Apple’s new iPad series is set to appear in October of this year. There will be many new models in the lineup, including a low-cost iPad 10, which will be a direct successor to the iPad 9 from last year.

Apple is working on a revamp of the low-cost entry-level iPad that will add to the device’s feature set. Apple’s tenth-generation iPad will receive various upgrades to bring it up to speed with the rest of the iPad series.

Fortunately, the new iPad 10 will improve on its predecessor in a number of ways. For the first time, a low-cost iPad will migrate from Apple’s proprietary Lightning connector to USB C, completing Apple’s tablet family’s shift to USB C. USB C ports are already available on the iPad Pro, Air, and Mini.

The 2022 iPad is expected to have a USB-C connector rather than a Lightning port, allowing USB-C to be used across the iPad series. At current time, the iPad Air, iPad Pro, and iPad mini all have USB-C ports, leaving the iPad as the only tablet that uses Lightning.

The new tablet is believed to have a 10.5-inch display, up from the existing 10.2-inch display. The iPad will have a 10.5-inch display, according to display analyst Ross Young, who frequently delivers correct information on Apple’s display ambitions.

Another first for the iPad 10 is 5G connection, which allows for far higher internet rates than previously. However, in order to save money, the tablet will not use mmWave modems, instead opting for sub-6GHz compatibility, which provides a longer range but slower download rates.

The tablet’s display will be upgraded to a Retina display with the same resolution as the iPad Air, increasing its size from 10.2′′ to 10.5′′. Apple may be able to add a larger battery because to the larger size, although this remains to be seen.

The A13 processor will be replaced by the A14 Bionic, a newer and faster chip based on TSMC’s 5nm process rather than the A13’s 7nm node.
