The Top Military Brass’s Massive Overhaul Is About To Begin

October 12, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Pakistan News

In a dramatic shake-up of the top brass ahead of the change in leadership at the end of next month, the army announced on Tuesday that 12 major generals had been elevated to the rank of lieutenant general.

12 Major Generals Promoted In One Go

According to ISPR, the promoted generals are Major General Inam Haider Malik, Major General Fayyaz Hussain Shah, Major General Nauman Zakria, Major General Mohammad Zafar Iqbal, Major General Ayman Bilal Safdar, Major General Ahsan Gulrez, Major General Syed Aamer Raza, Major General Shahid Imtiaz, Major General Mohammad Munir Afsar, Major General Babar Iftikhar,

It is unusual to see so many people promoted to the position of lieutenant general at once. Although these elevations are typically supposed to be done on the basis of vacancies, the promotions in the Army had been overdue for about a year.

The seats vacated by the retirement of three lieutenant generals in the middle of October 2021, one in July of this year, and five at the end of September would be filled by the 12 newly promoted generals. Lt Gen Majid Ehsan, the former IG Arms, Lt Gen Amir Abbasi, the former QMG, and Lt Gen Hamooduz Zaman Khan, the former Commander of Army Air Defence Command, were among those who had retired a year earlier.

Lt Gen Moazzam Ejaz, the then Engineer in Chief, had retired in July. In contrast, Lt Gen Abdul Aziz, the then commander of the Lahore Corps, Lt Gen Nadeem Zaki Manj, the then commander of the Mangla Corps, Lt Gen Shaheen Mazhar Mehmood, the then IG Training and Evaluation Lt Gen Syed Mohammad Adnan, and Lt Gen Waseem Ashraf, the DG

After Lt. Gen. Sarfraz Ali, who was the corps commander of Balochistan at the time, was killed in a helicopter crash on August 2 while carrying out flood relief operations, the tenth position became vacant.

To replace the anticipated four-star vacancies caused by the approaching retirement of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Gen Nadeem Raza and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, two more generals have been promoted in advance of the elevation of two lieutenant generals.

The COAS alone has the authority to promote soldiers at this level. However, it is customary for the chiefs to meet with other top generals informally before making their choices.

The 12 promoted officers would make up a sizable portion of the team that the new commander would take over in November, making the most recent promotions one of Gen. Bajwa’s most important decisions made prior to his departure. The posting of the promoted officers, which GHQ would shortly complete, would now be the focus of all attention. A number of significant posts are presently open.

Immediately following his appointment in 2016, Gen. Bajwa had the chance to elevate seven major generals, which aided in the formation of his own team. Due to the elevation of two officers to four star levels and the resignation of four other officers after being replaced, the seven slots had at that time become vacant.

Gen Inam Haider Malik served as the director general of works and chief engineer, Gen Fayyaz Hussain Shah as the director general of doctrine and evaluation at Training and Evaluation Branch, Gen Ahsan Gulrez as the director general of military training at Training and Evaluation Branch, Gen Mohammad Zafar Iqbal as the officiating commander of the Army Air Defense Command, Gen Syed Aamer Raza as the chairman of HIT, Gen Shahid Imtiaz as the commandant of

A couple of the recently promoted officers had collaborated closely with Gen. Bajwa. These officers include DG ISPR Gen Babar Iftikhar, DG Perspective Planning Cell Gen Ayman Bilal Safdar, and Vice Chief of General Staff-A Gen Nauman Zikriya.

In this experiment, over 20 prominent generals were replaced, but aside from a few, there weren’t many notable shocks.

Why Does My Car Not Start in the Cold? What to Do

Why Does My Car Not Start in the Cold? What to Do

October 6, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive Blogs

Quite frequently, at the worst possible time, when it is most necessary, your automobile won’t start in the cold. Winters and automobiles frequently don’t get along, and when there aren’t any available cars or taxis to help, things grow even worse.

Low temperatures also have a negative impact on the automobile, which is shown in its poor performance. In the end, this means you’ll have to cancel all of your plans for the day and hunt for other travel options. If your automobile won’t start cold, these are the most typical issues you could run across.

Reasons Why Your Car Won’t Start in the Cold

1)Production of Electrical Current Drops

On chilly days when there is less current output, the car won’t start. Additionally, the chemical reaction is considerably less on such days. Warm batteries provide more current than cold ones, therefore cold batteries may have trouble starting.

2)Engine Oil Becoming thicker

Engine oil thickening is a significant issue that frequently occurs. It becomes challenging to pump the oil into the other components as a result. Additionally, there is a potential that the oil will adhere to the engine components and impair the car’s efficiency.

It is challenging for the batteries to draw in so much oil because of this sticky grease. Therefore, a battery with little power may result in a sluggish engine start.

3)Dripping Gasoline Lines

If there is a gasoline obstruction in the winter, the automobile won’t start in the cold. Due to moisture buildup, fuel frequently becomes obstructed and freezes. Ice or snow may also condense into a gel in the gasoline lines as a result of this moisture.

As a result, starting the engine takes longer than usual. Additionally, with damp gasoline lines, there is a danger of the engine sputtering and dying quickly. Condensation in gasoline tanks is the major cause of this.

4)Improper Carburetor Operation

No longer are carburetors to be found. They were a typical component of vintage automobiles. The automobile won’t start in the cold if the carburetor isn’t operating correctly. Additionally, this inappropriate operation increases the likelihood of the carburetor being clogged. Modern automobiles have a fuel injection system, thus they rarely have this issue.

5)Replace Your Battery

Car batteries are constantly vulnerable to harm. Therefore, consistently check the voltage to keep your battery safe. During this time, make sure the batteries are in good condition and plug in all the cables.

6)Protect Your Vehicle

Keep in mind to garage-park your automobile, especially during the winter. If a garage is not an option, you can park in a building’s parking space, a carport, or under a canopy. Additionally, use a car cover when parked to prevent your car from not starting in the cold. All of the delicate components are preserved in this way.

7)Keep Moisture Away

Try to place your cars in a secure area. Reduce power when the engine is not operating, second. Keep in mind to dry and clean your automobile batteries as well. Long-term battery use is guaranteed by clean batteries. Additionally, it lessens exposure to heat and supports maintaining a cool temperature.

The fact that your automobile won’t start in the cold is always a problem that might arise at any time. Keep your cool, take the proper actions, and secure your automobile in such situations.

Rupee Rises Rs1.7 Versus The Dollar In Interbank Trading As The Uptrend Continues

October 5, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Business News

On Wednesday, the rupee extended its gains against the dollar, increasing by almost Rs1.7 in the interbank market at close.

The State Bank of Pakistan reported that the exchange rate of the local currency for the dollar was Rs223.94 (SBP). This is a rise of 0.76 percent from the close of Rs225.64 yesterday.

According to earlier Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP) statistics, the rupee increased by Rs2.04 (0.9%) versus yesterday’s close of Rs225.64 late afternoon. Later, it rose by 30 piastres.

Analysts have mostly linked the rupee’s strengthening to the country’s September import bill decrease and anticipations that the incoming finance minister, Ishaq Dar, will take action to stabilize the present exchange rate.

“The PKR is benefiting from September’s reduced imports. It’s also rumored that the incoming finance minister will act to stabilize the local currency. Chief Executive Officer of the brokerage firm Topline Securities, Mohammed Sohail

Zafar Paracha, general secretary of the Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan (Ecap), cited two more explanations for the rupee’s upward trend: a decrease in the import bill from the previous month and a monthly decrease in the trade deficit of 20 percent.

He said that the rupee was anticipated to continue its gains in the next days as a result of these factors. “Inflation is also dropping, enhancing prospects of no additional restrictive measures in the monetary policy,” he said.

Paracha further connected the strengthening of the rupee with “tight measures” adopted by the government.

In this context, he emphasized in especially the new finance minister’s efforts against hawala/hundi networks. He said that after the event, components that had been “artificially raising” the value of the dollar began to sell hoarded currency.

He said that as a result, a decrease in the demand for dollars on the open market was also noted.

The government has taken a number of steps, including opening an investigation into banks’ involvement in exchange rate manipulation.

On Tuesday, Jameel Ahmad, the governor of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), informed the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue that inquiries had been opened against eight institutions.

According to Ahmad, the initial part of the investigation focused on Bank Al Habib, Habib Bank Limited, National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), Meezan Bank Limited, United Bank Limited (UBL), Allied Bank Limited (ABL), and Standard Chartered. He omitted to mention the eighth bank, though.

He informed the tribunal that ABL, NBP, and Standard Chartered had received show-cause letters and that the remaining institutions would be under investigation in the ensuing stage.

He had stated, “This is not the appropriate spot where the rupee sits at the present time,” and he had added that he was aware that certain speculators were playing this game and that they need to cease right once.

Musk Prepared To Acquire Twitter For The Original Price

October 5, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Tech News

WASHINGTON: Two persons familiar with the situation said on Tuesday that billionaire Elon Musk wants to proceed with his initial $44 billion bid to take Twitter Inc. private, bringing an end to the contentious legal dispute that was ready to go to trial.

The settlement puts the richest person in the world in command of one of the most powerful media outlets and puts an end to months of contentious litigation that hurt Twitter’s reputation and fueled Musk’s reputation for acting erratically.

Musk, the CEO of electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla Inc., will take over a firm he first committed to purchasing in April but quickly changed his mind about.

Before trading was again suspended, Twitter shares increased 12.7 percent to $47.93, while Tesla shares increased by around 1%.

According to an earlier story from Bloomberg, Musk proposed the idea in a letter to Twitter.

The information comes ahead of a highly anticipated courtroom confrontation between Musk and Twitter on October 17, when the social media firm was expected to ask the judge to require Musk to consummate the acquisition at $54.20 per share.

Musk agreed to purchase Twitter in April for $44 billion, or $54.20 per share, but claimed shortly after that a considerably greater percentage of accounts were bots than Twitter’s estimate of fewer than 5% of users.

Bots are automated accounts, and their usage may cause overestimations of the number of real users, which is crucial for determining advertising prices and the service’s overall worth.

The butterfly house at Jallo Park’s botanical garden was reopened to the public on Monday by the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), who also launched a number of initiatives aimed at introducing stunning butterflies of all types, breeding them, and fostering their growth.

After the government refurbished the house, it was reopened. Lockdowns related to Covid-19 caused the plant to close in 2020.

The creation of the butterfly house in 2016 marked the beginning of Pakistan’s practise of housing a variety of the most exquisite butterflies.

A group of youngsters from Gujranwala visited the home on Monday and enjoyed witnessing butterflies of different sorts, according to a PHA official source who spoke to Dawn.

The PHA collected a wide variety of butterfly species in 2016, some of which were imported. The PHA collaborated with the departments to complete a significant tree-planting operation in order to create a favourable natural environment before releasing the butterflies inside the residence.

The house has a briefing area as well, where guests can learn more about the various species, their reproduction, growth, etc. The height of the ceiling and roof of the home makes it difficult to regulate temperature in inclement weather (winter and summer). However, the PHA installed chillers and other temperature-controlling machinery. However, the equipment malfunctioned, and later, the government shut down the plant as a result of lockdowns related to Covid.

By maintaining the roof, dome, and chillers, according to officials, PHA Director General Zeeshan Javed rendered the residence functional.

The Lahore Division Administration and the PHA claim that thousands of saplings were planted during a special campaign after the city’s Shining and Green Campaign.

“All portions of Lahore’s abandoned parks will be completely restored with tree planting over the next four weeks. Additionally, it was requested that the PHA director general provide a performance study, according to Lahore Commissioner Amir Jan. He suggested that the six and a half kilometre long area around The Mall, including Empress Road, be made more attractive by the PHA.

At a 500 kV grid station called New Multan, the National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) has added a 250-MVA transformer to the existing 160 MVA (220/132 kV) transformer.

A representative stated that the transformer had been powered up just a few days prior.

According to the NTDC, a thorough strategy for gradually removing system limits was created to address system overload, particularly during the summer.

“The addition of the transformer would increase the grid station’s capability for loading and relieve pressure on Multan Electric Power Company customers. At the same grid station, a second transformer has been upgraded, the representative stated.

He said that the company’s industrial, rural, and urban customers will gain from the introduction of new transformers.

Hamilton Could Have Piercings, But Mercedes Will Pay A $24,500 Fine

October 3, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News

Lewis Hamilton will be permitted to continue wearing his nose stud at the Singapore Grand Prix due to medical need, but his team was fined $24,500 on Sunday for failing to alert the stewards.

The governing body of Formula One, the FIA, imposed the fine after Mercedes submitted a self-scrutineering form claiming that the British driver had adhered to rules by taking out all jewelry and body piercings.

“In recent times, Hamilton had the piercing removed before the match. Without asking Hamilton, the team thought he had already followed or would follow the same process for this event “the FIA stewards concluded in their decision.

“The stewards agree that the declaration’s mistake in this instance was not made on purpose or deliberately. In light of these facts, we impose a 25,000 euro punishment on the squad.”

According to seven-time world champion Hamilton, who removed the stud because to an infection, he was advised to do so by medical professionals.

Hamilton remarked, “I’ve worn my jewelry and nose stud for years and obviously there was all that hubbub at the beginning of the year.

It wasn’t able to come loose because it was soldered in at the time. They granted me an exemption for many races so I could come up with a solution, stated Hamilton.

I tried inserting and removing it. Because of that, it became infected. My nose was pretty uncomfortable, and I developed a blood blister. I told them all of this before I was qualified.

The physicians asked me to keep it in after I put it back in because it had begun to mend during the previous two weeks.

After qualifying third-fastest for Sunday’s race at the Marina Bay circuit, Hamilton was asked to go to the stewards’ room.

The stewards issued a statement stating that “broadcast footage revealed Hamilton wearing an item of jewellery in the form of a body piercing (nose stud) throughout the session.”

The team presented records from a medical professional that supported Hamilton’s statement. Hamilton “said that he had been instructed by his physicians not to remove it for the time being.

We decided to stop taking action in light of the mitigating circumstances.

Despite the regulation prohibiting drivers from wearing jewelry existing for decades, Hamilton claimed it was “all a little ludicrous” that it became a problem this season.

He replied, “One of the finest defences I ever heard was about heat and how metal transfers heat in a fire.

Hamilton said, “But our zip is metal, our helmet buckle is metal, and we have cables with aluminum metal in them.

“It’s absurd that we have to discuss something so trivial. Everything is a bit goofy. I’m hoping they’ll be reasonable.

The stewards’ first responsibility should be to keep us safe. However, this is not a safety concern.

Last year, the business started using social media to promote the GS3 subcompact crossover SUV. However, the business has been inactive on social media as well since May 2022.

We made an attempt to get in touch with Ahmad to ask him about this news and are currently waiting for a response.
