Porsche Is Investing Heavily On Electric Vehicle Batteries

Porsche intends to expand its electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing with more efficient batteries. Group 14 Technologies, a US-based firm known for its revolutionary contributions to lithium-silicon battery technology, has received $100 million in a series C fundraising round from the German automotive giant. Group 14 is actively working on worldwide plans to manufacture anode materials for lithium-ion batteries.

The business plans to use the funding to develop high-quality, commercially accessible battery cells. These cells are thought to have uses in small-scale manufacturing, motorsports, and high-performance cars.

The anodes, according to Group 14, can store 50% more energy than traditional electric car batteries. A joint venture is anticipated to begin mass manufacturing in 2024. Porsche isn’t the only company that has invested in Group 14, with a total of $400 million invested in the battery producer.

For a long time, the electric vehicle industry has relied primarily on Li-ion batteries. The price increase from Proton Saga is similar to those from Kia and Changan. Nonetheless, the Saga is Pakistan’s cheapest sedan, with the potential to become one of the country’s best-selling vehicles.

Hyundai Elantra 1.6L Is Set To Debut In Pakistan This Month

By the end of April 2022, Hyundai Nishat Motors Private Limited (HNMPL) plans to debut the Hyundai Elantra 1.6L model in Pakistan. New Hyundai Elantra model will be released before Eid-ul-Fitr, although the business has yet to declare a specific date.

Hyundai will launch a 1.6L Elantra version, according to our sources. In March 2021, Hyundai debuted the Elantra in Pakistan. It’s a mid-size car that competes with the Toyota Corolla Grande and Honda Civic in the C category. Elantra had a favorable reaction for a newcomer and quickly became a favorite among many. Hyundai Elantra sales surged by 186 percent from January to February 2022.

Pakistan Is Now Proton’s Largest Export Market

Proton is steadily extending its global presence, with Pakistan being its most important export market. According to Paul Tan, a famous Malaysian news site, the manufacturer exported 794 units to foreign markets in March 2021, with 690 of those going to Pakistan.

What is Causing Pakistan’s Automobile Costs to Rise?

In March 2022, Proton sold a total of 13,028 units (in Malaysia and other countries), a 41 percent increase over the previous month, with the Saga being the best-selling model with 6,422 units. The X70 SUV was the second best seller, with 2,320 units sold in a month.

Proton has a huge market share in Malaysia, but it isn’t quite as successful in Pakistan. Slow sales, delayed local manufacture, extended delivery periods, and a resulting drop in demand are some of the causes behind this.

Proton only sold 1,233 cars in Pakistan in 2021, according to data compiled by AutoJournal.pk. Only 181 of these units were locally produced, with 1,052 being CBUs.
