“From Friday, May 27, 2022, the government has decided to hike the costs of Petrol, High-Speed Diesel, Kerosene Oil, and Light Diesel Oil by Rs. 30 per liter. At 12 a.m., the new pricing will take effect. “The new price of petrol will be Rs. 179.86 per liter, and the new price of diesel will be Rs. 174.15 per liter,” the Finance Minister tweeted.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, according to the Finance Minister, made this difficult decision in the national interest. He stated that imposing such a burden on the general population is a difficult decision for the government to make.

Miftah stated that the decision was made in order to resurrect the International Monetary Fund’s $6 billion bailout package (IMF).

The rise comes only one day after the government and the IMF failed to reach a deal on a financial bailout due to the former’s unwillingness to reverse fuel and power subsidies, causing budget uncertainty for fiscal year 2022-23.

According to a news statement from the Finance Division, sustaining current petroleum product prices at current subsidized rates is continually growing the government’s twin deficit while also creating significant dangers to the energy supply chain.

Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) and refineries are having trouble acquiring international bank confirmation for LCs/SBLCs, local banks’ unwillingness to open LCs, and importers’ issues securing insurance coverage for particularly high-priced cargoes, according to the statement.

“The government has decided to adjust the present petroleum product pricing in order to rationalize petroleum product costs.” Prices for petroleum goods have been raised in part to make them affordable, according to the statement.

With a Rs. 30 per liter hike across the board, the new price of fuel will be Rs. 179.86 per liter, up from Rs. 149.86 per liter previously. High-speed diesel will now cost Rs. 174.15 per liter, up from Rs. 144.15 per liter previously. According to the Finance Division, the new price of kerosene will be Rs. 155.56 per liter, up from Rs. 125.56, and the new price of light diesel oil would be Rs. 148.31 per liter, up from Rs. 118.31 per liter.

Azadi March PTI Workers Clash With Police Near Batti Chowk

May 25, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Pakistan News

LAHORE: Police used tear gas to disperse PTI workers at Batti Chowk in Lahore after removing obstacles erected to obstruct roadways ahead of the party’s planned “Azadi March” to Islamabad.

The PTI’s Lahore chapter has requested that its members congregate at Batti Chowk today, from where they will proceed for Islamabad.

The police fired tear gas shells to clear the scene after the party workers gathered at the crossroads and battled with them after they removed barricades.

Meanwhile, former federal minister Hammad Azhar confirmed his arrival at Batti Chowk via social media.

According to Geo News, all access and departure routes into and out of Lahore have been barred to prevent PTI activists from marching, while searches on the homes of party officials have resulted in the arrests of Senator Ijaz Chauhdry and Mehmoodur Rasheed.

When a police party raided a local PTI leader’s home in the province capital, guns were seized, according to Lahore Police.

A Cop Dies In Raid PML-N Govt Decides To Stop PTI’s Long March

May 24, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Pakistan News

ISLAMABAD: The PML-N administration has opted to halt Imran Khan’s Azadi March in Islamabad, despite mounting pressure from the PTI for early elections and the government’s determination to stay put.

  • PM Shehbaz Sharif presided over a meeting of the PML-political N’s committee.
  • “Such actions are equivalent to wrecking the economy,” says Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
  • The meeting will discuss the political environment and possible responses to the PTI’s lengthy march.

The decision was made during a meeting of the PML-political N’s committee, which was chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, only hours after a cop was killed during a raid on the home of a PTI politician.

With security increased in the federal capital and a crackdown on PTI members around the nation Friday night, all eyes were on PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s lengthy march to Islamabad, which was planned earlier as part of the party’s anti-government campaign calling for early elections.

Today’s gathering focused on discussions about the country’s current political situation and strategies for dealing with the PTI’s protracted march.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah briefed reporters on the current state of law and order, as well as steps to guarantee peace and security.

According to Geo News, which cited sources, it was decided that the “public’s security” must be assured.

During his presentation to the gathering, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was quoted as stating, “Such measures are akin to wrecking the economy.”

The prime minister went on to say that the state’s authority would not be jeopardized at any cost, and that any criminal activity will be stopped.

In the event of any aggressive or offensive behavior, the meeting voted to take legal action.

In a news conference to be held shortly, the interior minister will advise the media on the strategy to disrupt the march.

All chief secretaries, inspectors general, and other key officials would be videotaped in, and district and provincial administrations will be given instructions on how to prevent the PTI from marching on the federal capital.

Azadi March will begin as scheduled: Qureshi, Shah Mehmood

As news of the existing government’s announcement of a ban on the PTI’s long march arrived, PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi declared at a press conference in Peshawar that the freedom to march is a fundamental, constitutional, and legal right.

He claims that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari led a march, but that the government did nothing to stop it. Maulana Fazlur Rehman recently organised a sit-in in Peshawar that was not even prevented, he stated.
“I want to be clear that we will not stop and that our march will go as planned,” Qureshi stated.

“Regardless of what happens, PTI personnel must complete the long march,” Qureshi stated.

Imran Khan Announces Islamabad Long March Will Begin On May 25

Imran Khan Announces Islamabad Long March Will Begin On May 25

May 23, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Pakistan News

Imran Khan, the former prime minister of Pakistan and the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, has stated that a Long March on Islamabad will take place on May 25.

He urged people from all walks of life to join the march.

He went on to say that the whole country, including young, students, women, businesspeople, ex-servicemen, and people from all walks of life, were invited to join the Azadi March to defend Pakistan.

  • Imran Khan has told the military to keep its vow of “neutrality.”
  • According to him, he will lead a lengthy march from Peshawar to Islamabad.
  • Demands election dates and the dissolution of assemblies.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan made the statement at a news conference in Peshawar on Sunday, following the conclusion of a meeting of the PTI’s core committee.

PTI chairman Imran Khan said he will arrive in Islamabad on May 25 and meet with his fans and workers at 3 p.m. on the Srinagar Highway. Several PTI leaders surrounded the former prime minister, including Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Mahmood Khan.

He declared at the start of the news conference that every field of business, agriculture, and information technology had progressed during his administration, but that his government had been overthrown by a foreign plot.

He went on to say that the country was on the right track until a US-backed plot to destabilize his administration was planned with the cooperation of the former Opposition.

Imran insisted that the plan was not against him, but against Pakistan, and that his administration was overthrown at a time when the country was making tremendous progress in terms of industrial and agricultural expansion, as well as a record-breaking increase in GDP (GDP).

The previous opposition was considered to be extremely experienced and capable in governing the country, but the entire nation observed their condition and ineptitude in administering the country for one month, according to the former prime minister.

Despite their experience, he added, the rupee was devaluing, the stock market was falling, and inflation was rising.

He stated that they were capable and experienced in looting the country and committing corruption.

He claimed that the PML-N and its partners merely came to power to settle their corruption charges and safeguard their looted funds.

Addressing the young, he stated that Pakistan could not flourish and thrive until the rule of law was implemented.

At the conclusion of the news conference, he urged law enforcement agencies and the bureaucracy not to obstruct the long march by arresting PTI employees, warning that they would be held accountable for their conduct.

He said that the PTI was planning a lengthy march on Islamabad since it was an insult to Pakistan’s 220 million people that a US Undersecretary threatened Pakistan’s ambassador to dismiss Imran’s administration or face harsh times. He asserted that Imran Khan went to Russia against the US’s orders and was conducting his own foreign policy.
