In Pakistan, Suzuki Releases The Swift GL “Limited Edition.”

October 14, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News

Pak Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC) has unsurprisingly introduced the Swift GL Limited Edition. Despite its high price, the all-new Swift has quickly gained a sizable portion of the market since its launch in February of this year.

The specifics state that there are just two “improvements” made to the Swift GL Limited Edition above the base GL CVT model. These upgrades include a center armrest in-between the passenger seats and a rear top spoiler.

Other Characteristics Are:

  • 2 airbags
  • Climate Control
  • Anti-lock Braking System
  • Hill Start Assist
  • Vehicle Stability Control
  • USB and Aux Connectivity
  • Sat-Nav
  • Cruise Control
  • Keyless entry
  • Electronic parking brake

The new Swift GL Limited Edition costs Rs. 3,450,000, which is Rs. 30,000 more than the Swift GL CVT basic model. This is a significant premium for the enhancements. In addition, it boasts the same 1.2-liter four-cylinder K12C Dualjet petrol engine with naturally aspirated combustion, which delivers 90 horsepower and 120 Nm of torque to the front wheels with a CVT automatic transmission.

Sources claim that PSMC is continuing to export units, including Swift, despite the recent price increases and production reductions. Its sales will probably increase once a new Limited Edition variation is added.

The Last Lamborghini Aventador Is A Tribute To The Distinctive Miura Roadster

The Last Lamborghini Aventador Is A Tribute To The Distinctive Miura Roadster

October 14, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Automotive News

This Ultimae Roadster was modelled by Bertone’s unique Miura P400 Roadster.

Earlier this year, when the Felicity Ace caught fire, 15 Aventador supercars drowned in the Atlantic. Lamborghini was forced to rebuild every single one of them because they were meant to be the last client vehicles for the company’s flagship Sant’Agata Bolognese model.

Actually, during the catastrophic catastrophe, the Italian exotic carmaker lost roughly 85 vehicles, the most of which were Urus SUVs. The very final Aventador was unveiled in late September.

The Aventador’s epilogue, an Ultimae Roadster created by the Ad Personam customisation division, was only seen on the assembly line at the Italian facility. The last of the species now has a comprehensive photo album online where it is shown adjacent to its source of inspiration.

The droptop V12 vehicle, painted in a custom shade of Azzuro Flake, is modelled after the jaw-droppingly gorgeous Miura Roadster.

At the Brussels Auto Show in April 1968, Bertone showed his one-of, which was never put into production. As the Aventador’s swan song mirrors the livery of its predecessor with Grigio Liqueo and Nero Aldebaran accents for the lower half of the body, the spirit of the Miura P400 Roadster is alive and well in this design.

The inside follows the same theme, paying homage to the late 1960s prototype with Bianco Leda leather upholstery and Nero Aldebaran accents surrounding the headrests. The dashboard, which is covered in Nero Ade Alcantara and has Bianco Leda stitching, boldly displays a Miura logo that is also visible outside, more especially on the side rocker.

The unusual Miura Roadster was purchased by the International Lead and Zinc Research Organization, in case you’re wondering what happened to it. All the replaceable parts were switched out with components composed of zinc or lead by the new owner. In addition, ILZRO provided the inside and outside of the automobile matching green paint jobs.

It was subsequently given the new moniker ZN 75 and utilized for promotional reasons while touring various design centres all over the world. It ultimately went through a couple ownership changes before being fully repaired and displayed at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in 2008, when it was back to its original specifications. In the Lamborghini class, it won second place.

For the winter season, the Punjab School Education Department typically modifies the school hours throughout the whole province of Punjab in the month of October. These hours are in place until April 15 of the following year, or 2023.

It is evident from last year’s notices that starting on October 16, 2022, all schools in Punjab, whether public and private, would have new schedules.

READ MORE: At Jallo, PHA Reopens The Butterfly House

For all Punjabi girls’ schools, the new hours are 8:30 AM to 2:30 PM, and for all Punjabi boys’ schools, the new hours are 8:45 AM to 2:45 PM. For Monday through Thursday and Saturday, use this time. Friday at 12 PM, all schools will be out of session.

The revised times for the insaf afternoon school are 8:30 AM to 12:30 PM for the first shift on Monday through Thursday and Saturday and 1 PM to 5 PM for the second shift schools.

The revised hours for Insaf afternoon schools and double shift schools are 8:30 am to 12:00 pm for the first shift and 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm for the second shift on Friday.

With the existing conditions of the winter season and the pollution issues in Punjab, there may be little change from the department.

Official Notification of Punjab New School Timings 2022

Soon, the formal announcement of the new school hours will be made accessible. Information is supplied about the notification from the previous year. The new notification will be available when School Education Department Punjab will issue it.

Pervez Elahi, the chief minister of Punjab, tweeted about the smog issue there during the winter. The chief minister of Punjab warned the agricultural industry not to burn crop waste in a tweet. Otherwise, they will face strict punishment based on their conduct.

School Winter Break December 2022

Since the new school schedules are revealed in the winter. Holiday announcements will be made in December 2022 and January 2023. Murad Raas said that there will be two parts to the winter break last year. This year, the outcome will be determined by the severity of the cold weather.

The Rupee’s Comeback Is It Only Temporary?

The Rupee’s Comeback Is It Only Temporary?

October 12, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Business News

How the US dollar performs versus other major currencies and how rapidly our external sector indicators improve will largely determine if Finance Minister Ishaq Dar can lower the exchange rate to Rs200 per US dollar, as he has frequently indicated. In relation to the major currencies of the globe, the US dollar seems destined to hold its current strength and maybe even increase it.

There is potential for the external economy to develop. But assuming that sufficient advancement would be made during this fiscal year is overly optimistic. Therefore, we shouldn’t expect the rupee to appreciate in value during this quarter or the following two quarters of this fiscal year in a “sustainable and large” way.

On September 22, the Pakistani rupee saw an all-time low of 239,71 to the US dollar. Since then, it has appreciated significantly, gaining 8.25 percent. On October 7, it came to a close at 219.92 per dollar.

The rupee, which has already increased significantly during the last two weeks ending on October 7, might yet rise further but only little. However, we shouldn’t rule out the likelihood of brief declines in the local currency during this quarter and later.

The current exchange rate increase is not just the result of optimistic feelings sparked by Mr. Ishaq Dar’s homecoming; rather, it has also been influenced by the decreasing dollar index since September 28.

The US dollar index, which gauges the health of the dollar against a basket of the six most important international currencies, has been declining since its peak on September 27. However, that does not imply that the US dollar’s upward trajectory has stopped or reversed. That only reveals the impact of the extraordinary tightening of interest rates by the Central Bank of Europe, the Bank of England, and the uncommon UK and Japanese involvement in the foreign exchange market as the “reverse currency war” rages on.

Central banks from all of the world’s major economies are waging a “war” to defend their own currencies. This conflict was started by the US Federal Reserve. As the Fed has stated it would maintain hiking interest rates to combat the US’s decades-high inflation, it may be anticipated that they will continue to do so.

What does this all signify for the dollar-rupee exchange rate? It follows that the rupee’s relative strength against them will continue to decline, most notably against the reference currency of the USD, as all major world currencies, including the USD, Euro, Japanese Yen, and Chinese Yuan, march forward – at varying rates.

The recent rupee rebound is not just attributable to the optimism sparked by Mr. Ishaq Dar’s reappointment as finance minister. It has also been influenced by the US dollar index’s brief decline that began on September 28.

On September 22, as the US dollar index was still actively setting new records, the rupee plunged to an all-time low against the dollar, falling to 239.71. Later, the “Dar factor” and the falling dollar index supported the rupee’s rebound.

It is well known that Dar insisted on maintaining the artificially high value of the rupee in defiance of the then-leadership of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP). The magnitude of the current account deficits and other pertinent external account statistics from FY14 to FY17 are other items that are available to everyone.

The rupee was maintained in an artificially stable position, as is evident from a close analysis of the balance of payments accounts for those four years. For instance, even though we had a $12.1 billion current account deficit in FY17, the rupee was remarkably steady, losing just 10 paisa to the US dollar annually!

But that was then. Now, times have changed.

Pakistan’s T20 World Cup Challenge Depends On Shaheen’s Fitness

Pakistan’s T20 World Cup Challenge Depends On Shaheen’s Fitness

October 12, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Sport News

At the Twenty20 World Cup in Australia, Pakistan, a former champion, will rely on pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi to be at his destructive best.

After overcoming a right knee injury sustained in the first Test against Sri Lanka in July, the 22-year-old was permitted to join the team on Tuesday.

He missed the tri-series this week in New Zealand, the Twenty20 series against England, and the Asia Cup.

After a lengthy time of rehabilitation in London, the tall left-arm fast bowler will depart for Australia. He will play two warm-up matches in Brisbane the following week to restore his rhythm, the first of which is against England on Monday.

In order to be ready for their eye-popping first encounter against India at the expansive Melbourne Cricket Ground on October 23, which is predicted to draw 90,000 fans, Pakistan will play a last warm-up match against Afghanistan on the following Wednesday.

In the T20 World Cup in Dubai last year, Shaheen demolished India’s top order by removing Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli, finishing with scores of 3-31 as Pakistan cruised to a 10-wicket triumph.

According to captain Babar Azam, “He has healed nicely, and we are certain that he will be at his best come the India game.”

“Shaheen leads our strong fast bowling assault for us.”

Fakhar Zaman, a top-order batsman who made 55 runs unbeaten against Australia in last year’s semi-final, is also making progress after suffering a knee injury.

The nation’s cricket body said on Tuesday that Zaman, one of the three travelling reserves for the T20 World Cup, will accompany Shaheen to Brisbane to finish his recovery.

Since the World Cup last year, Pakistan has defeated Bangladesh and the West Indies in 3-0 T20 series, suffered a lone T20 loss to Australia in Lahore, and advanced to the Asia Cup final in the United Arab Emirates before falling to Sri Lanka.

At home, England won the series 4-3. Prior to Tuesday’s tri-series loss to the Black Caps, Pakistan had won the first two games against Bangladesh and New Zealand.

Azam remarked, “Our squad has done well, therefore I am hopeful about our prospects in the World Cup.” His team is in Group 2, where the top two teams go to the semifinals, along with India, Bangladesh, South Africa, and two qualifiers.

With the rapidly developing Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, and Mohammad Hasnain complementing Shaheen, Pakistan has a strong and diverse bowling assault.

Leg-spinner Shadab Khan, left-armer Mohammad Nawaz, off-spinner Iftikhar Ahmed, and leg-spinner Usman Qadir make up the spin quartet.

Despite having Azam and Mohammad Rizwan at the top of the order, Pakistan’s middle order batting has remained their weak point.

When they scored 203 to defeat England in Karachi last month, the duo established a global record for the biggest chase without losing a wicket thanks to Azam’s unbeaten 110 and Rizwan’s 88-run opening partnership—their second double-century opening stand in T20s.

However, if the combination falters, the team’s batting insufficiency may be made obvious.

Azam acknowledges, “Aside from the positives, we had some worries and I think our middle-order has to step up,” citing the failure to consistently produce results by Iftikhar, Shan Masood, Khushdil Shah, Haider Ali, and Asif Ali despite their being given opportunities.

We sent out several batting and bowling combinations to measure our bench strength. We are also improving our fielding.

The Top Military Brass’s Massive Overhaul Is About To Begin

The Top Military Brass’s Massive Overhaul Is About To Begin

October 12, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Pakistan News

In a dramatic shake-up of the top brass ahead of the change in leadership at the end of next month, the army announced on Tuesday that 12 major generals had been elevated to the rank of lieutenant general.

12 Major Generals Promoted In One Go

According to ISPR, the promoted generals are Major General Inam Haider Malik, Major General Fayyaz Hussain Shah, Major General Nauman Zakria, Major General Mohammad Zafar Iqbal, Major General Ayman Bilal Safdar, Major General Ahsan Gulrez, Major General Syed Aamer Raza, Major General Shahid Imtiaz, Major General Mohammad Munir Afsar, Major General Babar Iftikhar,

It is unusual to see so many people promoted to the position of lieutenant general at once. Although these elevations are typically supposed to be done on the basis of vacancies, the promotions in the Army had been overdue for about a year.

The seats vacated by the retirement of three lieutenant generals in the middle of October 2021, one in July of this year, and five at the end of September would be filled by the 12 newly promoted generals. Lt Gen Majid Ehsan, the former IG Arms, Lt Gen Amir Abbasi, the former QMG, and Lt Gen Hamooduz Zaman Khan, the former Commander of Army Air Defence Command, were among those who had retired a year earlier.

Lt Gen Moazzam Ejaz, the then Engineer in Chief, had retired in July. In contrast, Lt Gen Abdul Aziz, the then commander of the Lahore Corps, Lt Gen Nadeem Zaki Manj, the then commander of the Mangla Corps, Lt Gen Shaheen Mazhar Mehmood, the then IG Training and Evaluation Lt Gen Syed Mohammad Adnan, and Lt Gen Waseem Ashraf, the DG

After Lt. Gen. Sarfraz Ali, who was the corps commander of Balochistan at the time, was killed in a helicopter crash on August 2 while carrying out flood relief operations, the tenth position became vacant.

To replace the anticipated four-star vacancies caused by the approaching retirement of Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Gen Nadeem Raza and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa, two more generals have been promoted in advance of the elevation of two lieutenant generals.

The COAS alone has the authority to promote soldiers at this level. However, it is customary for the chiefs to meet with other top generals informally before making their choices.

The 12 promoted officers would make up a sizable portion of the team that the new commander would take over in November, making the most recent promotions one of Gen. Bajwa’s most important decisions made prior to his departure. The posting of the promoted officers, which GHQ would shortly complete, would now be the focus of all attention. A number of significant posts are presently open.

Immediately following his appointment in 2016, Gen. Bajwa had the chance to elevate seven major generals, which aided in the formation of his own team. Due to the elevation of two officers to four star levels and the resignation of four other officers after being replaced, the seven slots had at that time become vacant.

Gen Inam Haider Malik served as the director general of works and chief engineer, Gen Fayyaz Hussain Shah as the director general of doctrine and evaluation at Training and Evaluation Branch, Gen Ahsan Gulrez as the director general of military training at Training and Evaluation Branch, Gen Mohammad Zafar Iqbal as the officiating commander of the Army Air Defense Command, Gen Syed Aamer Raza as the chairman of HIT, Gen Shahid Imtiaz as the commandant of

A couple of the recently promoted officers had collaborated closely with Gen. Bajwa. These officers include DG ISPR Gen Babar Iftikhar, DG Perspective Planning Cell Gen Ayman Bilal Safdar, and Vice Chief of General Staff-A Gen Nauman Zikriya.

In this experiment, over 20 prominent generals were replaced, but aside from a few, there weren’t many notable shocks.

Rupee Rises Rs1.7 Versus The Dollar In Interbank Trading As The Uptrend Continues

October 5, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Business News

On Wednesday, the rupee extended its gains against the dollar, increasing by almost Rs1.7 in the interbank market at close.

The State Bank of Pakistan reported that the exchange rate of the local currency for the dollar was Rs223.94 (SBP). This is a rise of 0.76 percent from the close of Rs225.64 yesterday.

READ MORE: At Jallo, PHA Reopens The Butterfly House

According to earlier Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP) statistics, the rupee increased by Rs2.04 (0.9%) versus yesterday’s close of Rs225.64 late afternoon. Later, it rose by 30 piastres.

Analysts have mostly linked the rupee’s strengthening to the country’s September import bill decrease and anticipations that the incoming finance minister, Ishaq Dar, will take action to stabilize the present exchange rate.

“The PKR is benefiting from September’s reduced imports. It’s also rumored that the incoming finance minister will act to stabilize the local currency. Chief Executive Officer of the brokerage firm Topline Securities, Mohammed Sohail

Zafar Paracha, general secretary of the Exchange Companies Association of Pakistan (Ecap), cited two more explanations for the rupee’s upward trend: a decrease in the import bill from the previous month and a monthly decrease in the trade deficit of 20 percent.

He said that the rupee was anticipated to continue its gains in the next days as a result of these factors. “Inflation is also dropping, enhancing prospects of no additional restrictive measures in the monetary policy,” he said.

Paracha further connected the strengthening of the rupee with “tight measures” adopted by the government.

In this context, he emphasized in especially the new finance minister’s efforts against hawala/hundi networks. He said that after the event, components that had been “artificially raising” the value of the dollar began to sell hoarded currency.

He said that as a result, a decrease in the demand for dollars on the open market was also noted.

The government has taken a number of steps, including opening an investigation into banks’ involvement in exchange rate manipulation.

On Tuesday, Jameel Ahmad, the governor of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), informed the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Finance and Revenue that inquiries had been opened against eight institutions.

According to Ahmad, the initial part of the investigation focused on Bank Al Habib, Habib Bank Limited, National Bank of Pakistan (NBP), Meezan Bank Limited, United Bank Limited (UBL), Allied Bank Limited (ABL), and Standard Chartered. He omitted to mention the eighth bank, though.

He informed the tribunal that ABL, NBP, and Standard Chartered had received show-cause letters and that the remaining institutions would be under investigation in the ensuing stage.

He had stated, “This is not the appropriate spot where the rupee sits at the present time,” and he had added that he was aware that certain speculators were playing this game and that they need to cease right once.

The tech giant’s expanding bet on the South Asian country despite New Delhi’s push for domestic production is seen in Apple Inc.’s iPhone exports from India

Which have surpassed $1 billion in five months since April, according to a report by Bloomberg News on Tuesday.

According to the article, which cited sources, the export shipments of iPhones manufactured in India, primarily to Europe and the Middle East, are expected to reach $2.5 billion in the 12 months leading up to March 2023, nearly doubling from the year leading up to March 2022.

Earlier this year, Apple began producing the iPhone 13 in India, and the corporation only last week revealed its intentions to produce the most recent iPhone 14.

Since 2017, the tech giant has began producing iPhones in India.

According to Bloomberg, gadgets exported from India between April and August this year include the iPhone 11, 12, and 13 versions.

In addition to moving some iPhone manufacture from China to India, the second-largest smartphone market in the world, Apple is also intending to produce iPad tablets there, according to the report.

As contract manufacturers for American companies attempt to diversify production away from China amid Covid-related lockdowns and brewing tensions between Washington and Beijing, India and nations like Mexico and Vietnam are becoming more and more significant.

A request for comment from Reuters was not immediately answered by Apple.

Musk Prepared To Acquire Twitter For The Original Price

October 5, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Tech News

WASHINGTON: Two persons familiar with the situation said on Tuesday that billionaire Elon Musk wants to proceed with his initial $44 billion bid to take Twitter Inc. private, bringing an end to the contentious legal dispute that was ready to go to trial.

The settlement puts the richest person in the world in command of one of the most powerful media outlets and puts an end to months of contentious litigation that hurt Twitter’s reputation and fueled Musk’s reputation for acting erratically.

Musk, the CEO of electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla Inc., will take over a firm he first committed to purchasing in April but quickly changed his mind about.

Before trading was again suspended, Twitter shares increased 12.7 percent to $47.93, while Tesla shares increased by around 1%.

According to an earlier story from Bloomberg, Musk proposed the idea in a letter to Twitter.

The information comes ahead of a highly anticipated courtroom confrontation between Musk and Twitter on October 17, when the social media firm was expected to ask the judge to require Musk to consummate the acquisition at $54.20 per share.

Musk agreed to purchase Twitter in April for $44 billion, or $54.20 per share, but claimed shortly after that a considerably greater percentage of accounts were bots than Twitter’s estimate of fewer than 5% of users.

At Jallo, PHA Reopens The Butterfly House

At Jallo, PHA Reopens The Butterfly House

October 5, 2022 / By Zunair Tahir / Pakistan News

The butterfly house at Jallo Park’s botanical garden was reopened to the public on Monday by the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA), who also launched a number of initiatives aimed at introducing stunning butterflies of all types, breeding them, and fostering their growth.

After the government refurbished the house, it was reopened. Lockdowns related to Covid-19 caused the plant to close in 2020.

The creation of the butterfly house in 2016 marked the beginning of Pakistan’s practise of housing a variety of the most exquisite butterflies.

A group of youngsters from Gujranwala visited the home on Monday and enjoyed witnessing butterflies of different sorts, according to a PHA official source who spoke to Dawn.

The PHA collected a wide variety of butterfly species in 2016, some of which were imported. The PHA collaborated with the departments to complete a significant tree-planting operation in order to create a favourable natural environment before releasing the butterflies inside the residence.

The house has a briefing area as well, where guests can learn more about the various species, their reproduction, growth, etc. The height of the ceiling and roof of the home makes it difficult to regulate temperature in inclement weather (winter and summer). However, the PHA installed chillers and other temperature-controlling machinery. However, the equipment malfunctioned, and later, the government shut down the plant as a result of lockdowns related to Covid.

By maintaining the roof, dome, and chillers, according to officials, PHA Director General Zeeshan Javed rendered the residence functional.

The Lahore Division Administration and the PHA claim that thousands of saplings were planted during a special campaign after the city’s Shining and Green Campaign.

“All portions of Lahore’s abandoned parks will be completely restored with tree planting over the next four weeks. Additionally, it was requested that the PHA director general provide a performance study, according to Lahore Commissioner Amir Jan. He suggested that the six and a half kilometre long area around The Mall, including Empress Road, be made more attractive by the PHA.

At a 500 kV grid station called New Multan, the National Transmission and Despatch Company (NTDC) has added a 250-MVA transformer to the existing 160 MVA (220/132 kV) transformer.

A representative stated that the transformer had been powered up just a few days prior.

According to the NTDC, a thorough strategy for gradually removing system limits was created to address system overload, particularly during the summer.

“The addition of the transformer would increase the grid station’s capability for loading and relieve pressure on Multan Electric Power Company customers. At the same grid station, a second transformer has been upgraded, the representative stated.

He said that the company’s industrial, rural, and urban customers will gain from the introduction of new transformers.
